  1. Hey great build up. I have that one waiting on deck. Very cool.
  2. As we have reached a philosophical point here, I feel obliged to comment here. Look what was in the body of your message. Do you take this mind-set to work with you? In your personal life? I doubt it. So why would you adopt this philosophy in your hobby. Would you enjoy it less if the model took you a few more weeks to build than it currently does?
  3. Like the one in the lil Coffin kit?
  4. Merc, I've heard the Revell 41 Willys chassis/engine mates up with the Revell 40 Coupe very well. It might suppply most of what ya need to bring this one to life.
  5. Smart man Clay. The job market is totally hosed right now. I got out after 10 years back in '01 and I've regretted it on several occasions. Take care and thanks for your service.
  6. Pure awesomeness!
  7. Thanks for all the input guys. I'm thinking hard about a box stock build, because at contests it's one of theose catagories I've never got an entry for. I hate yellow, so was leaning towards Inca Gold. Which should look groovy with the red tinted glass. However from what I've seen the engine does look really out of scale - too small. However if I'm going to change the engine, I'll likely start replacing all the other lil things that bother me, like those funky front seats, so again I'm leaning more towards a box stock build. Was this based upon a real car? A Google search has revealed only the kit, some die-casts and the like.
  8. Looks like a great traditional rod. Perfect color.
  9. *raises hand*
  10. Wow. Peter. Amazing work. I'd love to see a larger wheel opening in the front though.
  11. I recently got a huge of box of kits and diecasts from my uncle. The diecasts were in seriously bad shape so I parted them out. I'm not sure which one they came from. So...................I've no idea.
  12. One would wonder if you are going to go through all that work to build something 1:4 scale, how much more work would it have really been to make it 1:1? Awesome work though.
  13. Thanks Dave!
  14. Will says thanks very much for kind words.

    49 Merc.

    Fanastic work. Very authentic.
  16. Here's a father-son project................ sorta. Last year I inherited about 30 kits. I was so jazzed and wanted to dive right in on em. The problem? My old projects that were on the shelf silently berating my lack of stick-to-it-iveness. The answer? Give the old projects to my 17 year old son Will! Brilliant! Yep and it worked out great. Here he's taken a Revell 32 3-window that I had painted three times before settling on the suede blue and then left to sit. He did some very unusual foil work and turned it into something very original. Pretty cool huh?
  17. Holy Shnikes! I am in awe. That is some awesome work. I love the Buick side trim. Fantastic.
  18. *checks the kit supplied steelies* Holy ###### he's right! Hmm............It's a custom. Yeah, that's the ticket! The salt technique is fairly straight forward. After primer and a light blue color coat, I applied rust colored acrylics with a make-up sponge. When dry, I sprayed the body down with water and applied kosher salt. It sticks to the water and adheres to the body. A lil extra was added in particular areas. When dry, I shot the final green. After a couple days, I knocked all the salt off and used a stiff tooth brush and some rubbing alcohol to feather out the edges of the paint breaks and reveal more color from beneath. This is my first shot at it. DamnCranky is the real master at this. Look up some of his threads to get more info.
  19. Thanks guys.
  20. Some updates on the 37 Chev. I've made with some washes at the panel joints and on the engine to get the lived in look. I used a matte clear on chrome to get the faded look, and I think it goes well with the look of the car. Very pleased how it's coming out. Next to channel the interior bucket so the chassis sits a bit higher up into the car. You know what, I need a name for this one. Something cool for the license plate. Any ideas?
  21. Marlboro? Where's that? I'm missing something.
  22. There is a contest at the SE Streetrod Nats, Oct 8-10 weekend. At the State fairgrounds in Tampa. I still need to find out more info oe this, but ill pass on the info when I do.

Fantastic work. I don't particularly care for the cowl ind. hood, but you can't deny the workmanship.
