Purrrrrdy !!!!! While the color, at least in these pics, isn't quite right as Cascade Green it looks very nice on this car. You've also done some nice detailing on this build. I'd be proud to have this model on my Corvette shelf. robw

The Foose Thunderbird Speedster ! I'm going to like this one! robw

A very interesting concept and the blend of classic & modern is going to work well together. I'd vote against the rear spoiler I think that it disrupts what should be a smooth line aft of the cockpit. I'd also like to see a smooth transition from the Callaway piece to where it joins the rear body piece. robw

Since my LHS is 140 miles away I haven't been there for over a month but I did get an order from Model Express at the beginning of the week which consisted of some MCG photo etch, a Fujimi Ferrari 348 kit and the Revell '49. Hey, I wanted to find out what all the hoople over this kit is about but I can't imagine me having a lot of desire to build it. I've also got an order to Strada sports (decals & PE) just about ready to be sent. robw

Corvette Kit Info Request.....
robertw replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Len, Did a check through a number of kits from the C2 & C3 era and they all have the chassis/floorboards as one unit. As Ismael suggested the best relacement would be the Revell '67 kits but you might also look at the Revell '68/'69 Vette. While it would also require the removal of floor boards and spare tire carrier it has nice detail. For a stand alone chassis I think your only option would be the GS kits. I have a couple of the recommended pieces in my spares box so if you go with one of them let me know and I should be able to help. Rob W -
How about some Re-Introductions?
robertw replied to Steve H.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm "the other Corvette Guy" although I lurk on the forum a lot more then I post. My modelling interests include Corvettes, European sports cars and Canadian aircraft in 1/72 & 1/144 scales. I started modelling as a child and still have one of the first models I ever built, an Aurora Triplane. It was given to my grandparents, thus surviving the inevitable destruction that comes with childhood toys. I do have the remains of a few cars from the early '60's, the era that often saw thread, corduroy and cardboard being used to modify models. I keep them hidden in dark places. A few from those mid '60s builds are still good enough to keep at the back of the shelf, that old AMT Kandy Lacquer holds its shine forever. After high school I fell into the clutches of aircraft folk and built nothing else for many years only returning to cars around 1990. That was about the same time as the pangs of my 'mid life crisis' started telling me to buy the car that I had dreamed about since my teens, a Vette. That was achieved just a few years later and my '88 Red on Red coupe, now with just over 50,000 miles on the odometer, is still my pride and joy. I've also been building Vettes, trying to collect at least one of every 25/24 kit ever released (still have a ways to go) and preparing a list of every Corvette kit and promo ever produced (almost done that project) ever since. Spent 32 years working in the educational field as a teacher and in-school administrator but retired a year ago to dedicate myself to building models. For some reason I don't seem to be getting any more built now then when I was working, I'll have to see what I can do about that. The online message boards while very informative can absorb a lot of time if you let them and I've certainly enjoyed reading everyone's biographies no matter how long or short. Rob Wheeler -
My concept Trans Am based on the Kevin Morgan design

I hope this turns out as well as it's looking now. robw -
My very first car was a '54 Stude in a pale green. One of the only two cars that I now regret saying goodbye too. Good job. rob w

Love that color and it looks good on that model. It also looks like a well done construction job. I have that kit is my stash but I guess I'll have to think of a different color. Rob W

That's going to be a nice color for the Miura. I've been thinking of doing an F430 in that same color. Rob W

Over the last month (most recent time last weekend) I've been in several Hobby Lobbies in North and South Dakota and saw no sign of an AMT kit sell off. Shelves were full of both AMT & Revell. Even saw the Revell C-6 Corvette coupe for $29.95. I assumed that was a labelling mistake and as would be expected I passed on it. Robert W

Check out your local Radio Shack or what ever it's called now. In the electronics area you can find a spool of thin very flexible silver solder for only a few bucks. Comes in handy for many things, valve stems being one of them. rob w

A car that has always looked like an upside down bathtub now looks like one from the top as well. Install a black plastic liner in the new bed and add a Campus Friend figure. A neat build of an unusual model. Well done. Rob W

A beautiful build of one of modelling history's great classic kits. I very much appreciate your continuing build notes. When I build mine I know I won't put the amount of work into it that you've done but your frequent posting on this kit have taught me a lot about this model. Thanks. Rob W

Interesting choice for a color but I think it's going to look sharp. I just picked this kit up a week ago while on a trip but haven't even opened the box yet. I have to many kits on the go at the moment so will set this one aside for the future. I look forward to seeing yours finished and hearing about any problems you had. rob w

The speed at which you build is amazing but I am appreciating all these strange little micro cars. Rob Wheeler

This is so very cool. I'd love to build one...but I don't think it would look good behind a sports car. Rob Wheeler

This one has my admiration. Well done. Rob Wheeler

A sportscar with a red interior will always get my thumbs up. Nice job. Rob Wheeler

-56 Vette VS. -59 Oldsmobile 98
robertw replied to JAFFA's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The 56/57 Corvette is probably the great classic North American roadster. It's looks are timeless so I'm not suprised that it has taken on and defeated all it's opponents so far. Rob Wheeler -
And I considered building a model in a weekend to be somewhat of a miracle. It takes me 5 hours just to open the box and look at the parts. Rob Wheeler

The Convertiplane will of course be done in 1963 Sebring Silver which of course will make it Corvette related., LOL
