Wayyyyyy back in 1995, a fellow modeler was lamenting about his lack of spare parts. He hadn't been building for very long ( about 2 years, and not a lot of models) I told him I had some spare parts I could give him, and told him to bring his dad's pickup. I gave him 1 ( one) Box of parts .... it was a refrigerator box 6 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot ( these measurements are a best guess, you all know how big a fridge is. ) I never even noticed them missing.

What would a car modelers Hades be like:

All part numbers are the same.. " take B-34, and attach to B-34." " put sub assembly aside ". " now take part B-34 and attach to B-34. Attach assembly beneath part B-34 and with a twisting motion break part B-34 free of subassembly." "You should now have a spare part B-34 " -

I do remember a model railroad company actually doing the block of wood kits. Just a picture of what you were supposed to build, no instructions whatsoever. I attempted one once, but as a 10 year old using Grandpa's band saw to rip individual planks from the block, I gave up on the passenger car it was "supposed" to be and managed just a flatcar.... and it wasn't pretty either. -

Plastic injection molding machines were never invented. Model manufacturers give you a box ( with incredible artwork on the top ) but inside is a block of wood. The instructions say " take block of wood, ...make look like car". -
Nice ! I like the one and only gauge mounted right where it should be.

This is just my average weekend schedule. Mon through Fri I have to work for " the man" , then come home and catch up on all the farm chores. ( stuff is constantly breaking, and the pigs escape every few days so I have gotten very good at catching the proverbial " greased pig".) I hope to put " the man" in my rear view mirror within the next 2 or 3 years.

So far this morning, I started the fire in our woodstove, switched the power from our solar battery's to the generator, let the inside dogs out to do their business, and took all my medication ( to be repeated later tonight.) Now I'm preparing to go out and feed our zoo ( pigs, goats, ducks, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats) this will take around 2 hours. Later today, fix whatever is wrong with our tractor ( I suspect the fuel line is cracked) , finish putting up the back wall of the new turkey pen, cut/chop more wood for later tonight, and help SWMBO with the new kitchen countertops. If I'm lucky, I should be working on models by 4pm. ( today's project is 6 ho scale boxcars I got for Christmas . ) In bed by 8:30pm. Rinse, Repeat,

I need some gas tank ideas
Little Timmy replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know some older pick-ups had the tank behind the seats, at the rear of the cab . Just put a fill spout next to the driver's door. -
Both. Yea, I L O V E opening a "rare/vintage/ never to be produced again kit. ... and then spilling paint all over it ...

Too many?
Little Timmy replied to TopherMcGinnis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is just a " best guess" for my un-built , still in box stash. At my last count, about 300 or so automotive kits. As far as model trains go, probably 200. Everything else, ( planes, ships, tanks, figures, ) around 50. And the built kits scattered all over my shop, ... 80 ??? -

Spray paint cans , paintbrushes and airbrushes were never invented... You have to paint everything with your fingers. -
Originally, I'm from Dilly Or. ( I grew up on my grandparents 800 acre farm between Gaston and Dilly. Right beside hiway 47 . ) When we " went to town " it was usually a day trip to Forest Grove, or Cornelius, or Hillsboro . Moved to Portland in 1980. Moved to Winnamucca NV. In 2010. Moved to Douglas Az. In 2016. We now live within eyesight of the US. Mexico border. I figure when the world goes completely sideways, it's only a short walk to a different country.

I'm not trying to throw a wrench into the discussion, but I thought that AMT started out as SMP ? Somebody let me know if I'm remembering stuff wrong. -

Your hobby store thinks that Palmer kits are the most accurate, so that's all they stock. -

It looks like it's suprised to be here. Anyone else see a resemblance to the Chevron talking cars ? -
Life in prison would go by quickly, if they would let me have some kits, and an X-acto blade.
