This is just a " best guess" for my un-built , still in box stash. At my last count, about 300 or so automotive kits. As far as model trains go, probably 200. Everything else, ( planes, ships, tanks, figures, ) around 50. And the built kits scattered all over my shop, ... 80 ???

Spray paint cans , paintbrushes and airbrushes were never invented... You have to paint everything with your fingers.

Originally, I'm from Dilly Or. ( I grew up on my grandparents 800 acre farm between Gaston and Dilly. Right beside hiway 47 . ) When we " went to town " it was usually a day trip to Forest Grove, or Cornelius, or Hillsboro . Moved to Portland in 1980. Moved to Winnamucca NV. In 2010. Moved to Douglas Az. In 2016. We now live within eyesight of the US. Mexico border. I figure when the world goes completely sideways, it's only a short walk to a different country.

I entered an out of the box contest many, many years ago. You could paint it any color you wanted, but other than that. You could only use what came in the box. I chose an MPC Dodge truck. I used what was in the box,... including the box! I stretched the sprue to make hoses, plug wires and an antenna I used the box to make a camper for the bed of the truck. They tried to disqualify me, but I pointed out that I only used what came with the kit. Their rules. I came in third, only because I wouldn't shut up about it .

I remember paint bottles with printed 35 cents on the top. That was 1976. ( I still have a bottle of Testors metal flake Blue . Still usable after what, 47 years ? ) All hail Testors !

I don't know about that. I have been watching quite a few episodes of "Ancient Aliens" and it all seems plausible to me. But , then again, I have had a prolonged exposure to paint and glue ...
