Matt, I'm truly sorry to hear about your difficulties, but I'm equally proud to hear that you're sticking with your hobbies!! Keep the faith and let all of us know if there's anything that we can do to help. Regards, -
Tools You Can't Live Without

Hey Bill, If you want, I can bring my Dremel Stylus to the NNL West next month for you to check it out. Once you try it you'll never use anything else!! It's really that good!! -
I finally got the Pegasus 22" Chrome T wheels for my '58 Impala. (Thanks, Rollin, for all your help with figuring out what wheels to order). I had to narrow them a bit to get them to fit into the wheel wells. Here's how it looks now: Overall, I like the way they look in the rear, but I can't decide if I want to lower the front suspension a bit or put a set of smaller diameter Chrome Ts up front. I may lower the rear a bit, too. I really like the lowered look and stance of Randy's '58 Pontiac that I borrowed a picture of for comparison. Thanks, Randy!! If you missed the prior post, here's how it looked before the guys talked me into changing the wheels: So, guys, what do you think??? Smaller wheels in the front? Lower the whole thing? Thanks,
-
Yep, Jonathan nailed it!! The stance is awesome!! PE and machined parts are always a nice addition! I really like what you did under the rear part of the chassis!!
-
Now there's a man that knows how to make a Ford go FAST!!! I really like the stance, too!!
-
Eric, That's one mean looking Camaro! The exhaust came out really nice!! The clamps are a nice touch!! You didn't tell me that it had a BIG hole in the hood!! Nothing like a supercharger to make things exciting!! BTW: If you go back and edit you're initial post, you can fix the "71" to read "79". Keep 'em coming, my young friend!! Regards,

That's too funny!! Where I work, (in the semiconductor industry), we use toxic and corrosive chemicals and gasses in the demo labs for processing wafers. In the restroom, you can always tell who the equipment maintenance and lab technicians are…they’re the ones who wash their hands BEFORE they take care of business! -

Andy, I was the same way with my old, pre-historic Dremel tool. I only used it for heavy duty grinding and shaping. It was just too big, bulky and unwieldy with that monster cord hanging off of the back. The Stylus is light-years ahead of those older monstrosities for ease of use, even on the smallest of detailed features. It's amazingly light, fits well in your hand and easy to use for any type of grinding, shaping or engraving. I literally use it every time I’m building a model. -
Thanks, guys!! Brendan, Did you use the Tamiya PE kit with yours?
-
That is just too freakin cool, Mike!! I love the push-bar in the back!! That's a very nice touch!!
-
I just picked up the Tamiya Ferrari FFX, and the PE kit that goes with it, today at the LHS. I was pretty surprised when I did a search for FXX on the forum that it came back with no posts. Any helpful hints or pitfalls to avoid with this kit will be gratefully appreciated!! Thanks,

That's too funny!! No, I certainly don't expect, or even hope, that MCM regularly features prebuilt diecast models. I see those reviews on the Diecast Zone, which is a good place for them. It's thier focus. At the same time, I do feel that it's good to occasionally let the folks who do read MCM know what's going on in the diecast world. FMs are OK, I have a few of them, but I'll put any DM up against an FM for fit, finish and detail any day. Thanks again,
-
Like your favorite old rock band, it's always good to see greatness a second, third, fourth...time around!! Greatness never gets old!!
-
I agree!! Those builds look excellent!! What a nice collection!!
-
That is really coming along nicely, Harry!! Now I just have to keep myself from buying one!! I'm really trying hard, for space purposes, to keep my collection to 1/24th & 1/25th scale. Keep up the posts,
-
Well, Bill, if you liked those two, which I had already seen the reviews of in the Diecast Zone and they're great, then you should take a look at some of their new Street Rod, Pro-Street, Pro-Stock offerings. I show them to my modeler friends and they're blown away by the fit, finish and detail of every one of them. Like I said earlier in the post, I wish the DM folks would sell parts. Here's what I mean: Regards,

For me, it's the Dremel Stylus!! This is the slickest, best shaped and easiest to use little powerhouse I've ever had!! If you do any type of customizing, this thing is a MUST HAVE!! Regards, -
Wooooooohooooooo!!!!!!!!
Raul_Perez replied to Ken's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I fully agree, Ken!! After "grokking" mine, I had to put it all back in the box and set it aside because I just haven't figured out how I want to build it! Maybe I should buy a few more, just start building one and see which way it goes!! -
I just got the flyer for the new Caddy in the mail yesterday!! It's amazing!! The driving lights that turn with the steering exemplify the level and attention to detail that the DM folks put into every one of their models. And the working latch on the golf club door is nothing short of scale excellence! Unfortunately, I’m trying to keep my ever growing collection to 1/24th scale. I am just out of room!! With the exception of DM 1/16th scale 55 Chevy Pro-Street, that I just couldn’t return after seeing how nice it is, I simply had to draw the line somewhere! Please post some pics when you get the Caddy. From what I understand, they're shipping them now.

Same here!! The 69, (even though I had a '67), is my favorite body style of all the Camaros!!
-
Yes, I was surprised to see a multi-page article on brand new, right from the box, Danbury Mint diecast cars!! As the very proud owner of somewhere between 75 and 80 DM models, (ranging from early Ford Model T's to some of their latest and best Pro-Stock and Pro-Street offerings), I was pleased to see the DM folks getting their duly deserved accolades from MCM! Yes, they truly are precision designed and crafted models with features that will amaze and impress even the most discerning of model builders. Here's a few of the DM Streetrod, Pro-Street and Pro-Stock models in my collection (Except for the White '68 Camaro on the right and the Ford GT behind it): For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to see these models up close and personal, Bill did a great job describing just how awesome they truly are. I only wish that the good folks at DM would setup a website to sell some of the parts that they use. So, thanks Bill and Gregg for including some of the best models I've ever seen built in 1/24th scale in this month's copy of MCM! Regards,
-
Dirk, That looks pretty good for a first try at that kit!! I've built several of them and can tell you that it tkes a "bit" of work to get the back-end of the truck down without "Z"ing the frame. Keep up the good work and the posts!

Harry, Nice work on the '49 Mercs in the December issue of MCM!! I really wish that I had the knowledge, skills and abilities to draw like that!! I would take a class in it, but between work, family, model cars/WWII dioramas/Sci-Fi dioramas, guitars...I just don't have time for another hobby... Keep up the great work!! -
Neal, Your doirama is coming along nicely!! Those things are so much fun to build!! Here's a couple of rustbucket photos that I found on eBay that I had posted for Jonathan. It's a great place to get reference photos if you need more inspiration for your diorama. Keep up the great work and the posts,
