  1. Now there's a man that builds gassers!! You've got some pretty nice looking gassers in your collection!
  2. Nothing beats a small car with a HUGE engine and meats to match!!
  3. Careful what you wish for, my young friend...I am a strong supporter of our troops (which I believe that you are currently a part of). You never know what kind of mysterious model-box-shaped packages could arrive in the mail. There are several other members on this forum that have also received packages from me...and always to their delight!
  4. You're probably right...a SOHC would really look at home and fill up that huge engine bay on an old truck. I like building both engines. I guess it all would come down to what the theme of the truck is..."Mighty Muscle" or "Modern Muscle". Thanks for the ideas,
  5. Clay, Unless the steps are a feature that you want to standout, repaint them the color of the truck. If you have the tools to cut the tape to whatever width you want, I'd try adding just a few pinstripes on the bed. That would tie the back of the model to the front and give you the contrast you're looking for. Remember, just a little says a lot in small scale. Try not to go overboard with the stripes. Also remember that we never learn anything new without trying different things. Some will work well, some will suck, but in the end you will learn something new about modeling. That's why I've got a "few" boxes of started projects back in the garage that may never see the light of day again. Good luck,
  6. Dirk, That's not fair!! I haven't even looked through my pile of kits to figure out what I want to build and you're already headed for the finish line!! I guess I better get started!
  7. Or at all!! His models are only average at best...he just does a really good job touching them up in Photo Shop!! Did I say that?!
  8. Very nice, Harry!! I have the full color fold-out flyer from DM for this one. It's a beauty!! Did you see that they also just released a limited edition '32 Caddy in 1/24th scale? It doesn't have as much detail as the 1/12th scale, but it's a beauty in it's own right. Thanks for sharing,
  9. Michael, Do you really think that I can't tell the difference between a low resolution photo of the real car and a model? Great detail work in the engine bay!! All of the work on the generator, the PS pump and the wiring is excellent!! What did you use for heater hose? I can see some printing, but the image isn't clear enough to make out what it says. The interior looks great, too!! Is that BMF trim work on the seats? Thanks for sharing,
  10. Looking good, Zoli! I really like your background for photography!!
  11. Clay, If you have a clean sheet of glass and a straight-edge you can cut the stripe tape to any width you need. I've done it several times to get the size I want. I'd pass on the green. To many colors can make it too busy looking. Regards,
  12. I'm sold!! I'll order a few sets today!! Thanks, Marcos!
  13. Very nice build of a really cool car!!
  14. Rollin, I REALLY like that color on that car. It fits really well!!
  15. Given the two choices, I'd go with the baby moons!! It's interesting how much the wheels set the tone and period of the build!
  16. You might try a light layer of clear, first. That way if anything bleeds under the tape it'll more than likely just be a little bit of clear that will easily be covered with a final coat od clear after the stripes are done. Good luck,
  17. Sure, I'll give it a try... I'm sure that I've got something that I can finish in two months...
  18. Clay, I'm glad that you liked the suggestion. I don't know how well Future would work...I don't use it. Maybe someone else on the board can help you there...
  19. Clay, You might try something like an orange pinstripe to highlight the colors you're using. What do you think? You should be able to find orange pinstriping tape at the local auto store. 1/16" would work well. You would probably have to clear over it to keep in in place on the curves. Regards,
  20. Well, I'm old enough to remember when the move to 15" wheels was a big thing...
  21. I hope so...but it won't get finished until after I finish the 43 Willys gasser pickup...
  22. No Eric, I'm not retired...the difference is that my kids are now in college, so I have a little bit more time than you to spend on modeling, but not much.
  23. I just use super glue and plastic strips for major shaping and fills, then I use body putty and primer for the minor stuff. It looks like you cut the body to match the oval shape of the inserts, then glued them in. I took a slightly different approach when I built mine. I cut a rectangular section out of the truck body, at the bottom of the door, just above the rocker panel, then 0.150" below the belt line and then even with the back edge of the door. Then I cut a matching piece from the Vette 0.75" tall by 2.775" wide. That way the curvature from the Vette side blended in well with the truck door because all of the bodywork was done away from the actual insert. The picture below shows roughly where the truck body was cut. The bottom of the 0.75" line actually starts at the bottom edge of the door. I drew it higher on the model so it would show up in the picture. You can also see in the picture where the door line from the Vette fits relative to the truck door. Though still a little rough, what you have looks like it's coming along nicely. I'd probably give it a light coat of primer to see how it looks and finish off the rest of the bodywork with putty and primer. Feel free to send me a PM if you need more help. Regards,
  24. OK, Walt...time to move this thread over to "On the workbench"!!
