Very sharply contrasting colors work well when they're proportionally balanced, like your bike. It should look really good!! Regards,

Well Joe, your wife has good taste in models! That's one of the best kits Revell has issued in the last several years for "buildability", and it looks great when it's done. I don't know what it is...it doesn't matter if I go to the LHS, a swap meet or even to visit an old friend, those pesky little boxes just seem to follow me home. They must know that I have more of their kind waiting in the garage!

Neal, The hood scoop looks fine. If you have a spare hood to work with, you might try rounding off the lower front peak a little bit. That might tone down the "stepped" look of the hood a bit. I have a few spare hoods if you need something to try it on. With that many Vette mods to the front of the truck, you're going to need to do something to the bed to balance it out. I've seen a couple of guys use the taillights from the 58 vintage Vette on the Cameo bed. They looked pretty cool. If you have the December '07 issue of Scale Auto, there's a picture in there of a pretty wild Cameo Vette under the picture of mine. I've also done a Vette-like mod to a stepside bed with a single Vette taillight on each fender (I wanted to put two on each fender, but there just wasn't enough room): Keep going!! You're on a roll!!

What kind of music.....

Though I play guitar, I like total silence when I'm building. Any background noise is just a distraction for me...but, then I'd have something to blame the next time I glue my fingers to the paint. -

Thanks for sharing, Ismael! -
Thanks for the information, Joe!! I'll probably do that, too. Like you, I've got more kits than I'll ever have enough time to build...and I keep buying more! How can that be? Regards,

That's too much freakin resin for me to finish in anything less than a year!! My build will be straight from the box with a few PE bits thrown in as necessary. The Sergeant likes monster trucks, Studes and muscle cars from the 60s and 70s. I'll send you an email with his address.

Hey, some of those 1/12th scale cars look familiar! Nice builds, Curt!

Like I said, Clay, careful what you wish for. Good people always stand ready and willing to help other good people in need. That's part of what makes this country so great! And...my young friend, you're not getting anything for free...your getting what you deserve for the service you provide to all of us every day.
-
By the way, my wife really liked the part about tying someone's legs around a tree...
-
You're very welcome, my young friend. It's the least that I can do for someone who's willing to put their life on the line for our GREAT country. I certainly didn't want a public "thank you" for the kits, but now that it's out there I'd like to see anyone else who can easily afford to donate a couple of spare kits to find someone in the service and send them a little "thank you" gift. They certainly deserve our support for their sacrifice. In closing, I don't know how many Marines it takes to tie someone to a tree with their own legs, but I know of at least one that stands ready…and I’m sure he has plenty of friends.
-
No problem. Join the Marines and we'll talk. I support our troops.

Bernard, I really like the build so far! It looks like you're putting a lot of thought and energy into making it look correct for the period. I thought that the blower in Revell's parts-pack Chevy engine is a Potvin. Not that they're always right, but the instructions on the back of the packaging even calls it a Potvin manifold assembly. I have several of them and they look just like the pics of Potvin blowers that I've found on the internet. For the cowl steering, I'd make my own from Aluminum tubing. I've made a few of them for some of the vintage dragsters I've built. Keep up the good work,

I agree, the Tamiya tape is excellent stuff. The other material that I use for taping whenever I want a perfect, fine line is burnished BMF cut with a new #11. It never creeps once it's put in place.

Sergeant, what happened to the other two?
-
Now there’s the attitude of a Marine, baby!! “Do or die, there is no tryâ€!! Like I once told an executive at a supplier company, "to me, 'try' means that you're prepared to fail, and that is not acceptable...TRY NOT, MUST DO". He never forgot what I told him. Realistically, the biggest problem with sending a built model is in packaging it well enough to get it where it needs to go without being damaged along the way. It would really be a shame to see just how many of the finished models would show up at the winner’s door damaged and in drastic need of repair. So with that, I'll support sending a new kit to the winner. If he wants my model, he's welcome to come pick it up. Regards,

OK, I'm going to build the Revell '64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt. No picks yet, unless you want to see a picture of the box. I still have to finish my 43 Willys gasser pickup and my '58 Impala street machine for the NNL West BEFORE I even start on the T-Bolt.

What's left to say? That is truly a beautiful representation of scale modeling at its finest! The wiring work and all of the details on the chassis are magnificant!! The only thing missing is the flashlight under the seat. (Remember, at the end of the day, these things still had wiring by Lucas).
-
Andy, That's going to look really cool sitting next to your Model A Roadster!! I'm pretty sure that you've broken through the modeler's block...now get on with it, Son, and get those cars finished!!
-
Very nice, Andy!! The Pegasus Big-n-Littles look perfect on that car!!
-
Very nice, Brian!! It's all downhill from here!!

I'll second that! -
Is that the Italian god of all things paint, "Testamaya de Lacquer"?

That is really cool, James!! Thanks for sharing,

Very nice work, James!! I really like the weathering on the exhaust!! That adds the "well driven" look to the overall "well taken care" appearance of the car. Thanks for sharing,
