  1. These days I'm a staff Engineer responsible for developing the business processes and training material for our Engineering groups. Before that I spent about 20 years in various aspects of corporate and supplier quality management in the semiconductor business. It's not very exciting or automotive related, but it pays well. But, before that...I was a professional bodyman for 10 years and did side jobs for another 20 years after that up until about 3 years ago... Now I keep my bodyman skills sharp by carving on plastic models.
  2. Well...some are in my garage, some are in my model room, some are still at the hobby shop, some have been given to friends to finish and some I just can't remember where they got off to... It really sucks getting old and suffering from advanced stages of CRS (Can't Remember "Stuff")!
  3. Rollin, I forgot to mention in my prior post...thanks for the great tip on the air filters!! BTW, my LHS still hasn't got the Pegasus wheels I ordered that you helped me with for my 58 Impala. Hopefully I'll get them this week so I can get that beast finished... Thanks for sharing!!

    C6 Z06

Hmmm....I wonder which Toyota I can fit a Z06 chassis under?
  5. I can't remember how old I was, or which kit it was, but I do remember that Moses thought it was pretty cool! I do remember one of my early builds being a Corvair that I built for a neighbor...
  6. Come on, Bill...tell us what you really think...
  7. Bob, Welcome to the forum!! Are you using the 409 based 427 Z-11 engine from the AMT '62 Impala kit? If so, I have some great reference photos that I can email to you. Regards,
  8. Those wheels look great!! Where are they from?
  9. Yep, I agree with Andy...lots of attitude in the stance!!
  10. Meeting? Meeting? What meeting? You guys on the east coast are have way too much fun without me!! But seriously, Marcos, that is one excellent build!! The details are amazing!! In total, it's an excellent display of workmanship and craftsmanship!! I have got to get some of those carburetor kits. They look amazingly real, even when you know they're 1:25th scale!! How difficult were they to assemble? Thanks for sharing,
  11. Well, Lyle, I guess that I fit into the "older guy" crowd, too. I never got use to "sick" meaning that it was well liked until I started watching American Chopper, so I'll just say that it's way too cool!! I can't tell from the pics...did you make or buy machined pulleys for that one? Regards,
  12. Rollin, Even though it's not my style, I sure can appreciate all of the work that you put into that paint job!! The reflections in the paint and the crispness of the lines show how well it's finished!! Keep up the great work!! Regards,
  13. Very nice builds, John!! I like the black one best!!
  14. That is a really cool piece of plastic, Hans! Unlike the '49 Merc that I just finished, you'll be able to see ALL of the interior detail in that one when it's finished!
  15. Nice prep work, Ismael! I'll have to remember that "more ripples than a surf beach" line for the next time I have to describe to my LHS why I'm returning a kit! Keep up the good work and the posts,
  16. Every time I see the picture of that body it reminds me of an SF3D piece that I have in my collection, except it's not painted bright, shiny red. Since I haven't kept up on F1 cars in a long time, I'll be really interested to see how this one looks when it's done. Thanks for sharing,
  17. I like the color choices, Tom! Other than the obvious changes on the side, are there any differences from the Revell kit on the front or rear? Regards,
  18. Very well said, Jonathan!! I "visit" the other site, and occasionally I will post something, but this site is "home"...and I like it just the way it is. Not to poke at Gregg when he's down, but I have about as much hope of receiving the December issue of MCM as I do the remainder of my subscription to Plastic Fanatic. It's just part of dealing with a publisher that's a lot more "real" and "personable"... So Gregg, as long as this site continues to feel like a place that I want to be, home, I'll continue to hang out here and forgive the occasionally late magazine. Much thanks,
  19. Nice work!! Those brass leaf springs look really good!!
  20. I agree with Ron, nice work on both models!! The weathering on the '64 looks really good, not over-done. The beer cans and the ripped seats are nice touches!!
  21. Yep, Happy Birthday, Virgil!! Did you get any new models?
  22. Very nice!! I like that you left the holes in the body panels for the moldings!! To me that screams "hurry the 'F' up and get that thing painted...I wanna go racin'!!".
  23. Nice work on the gas tank!! The whole thing is coming along nicely!!
  24. No, Dave, I'm not a closet fan...I just appreciate a great looking paint job and build, no matter what the subject matter is... These days I'm too old to even watch something that fast on TV! But it does make me wish that the weather was good enough to ride my GoldWing! So keep 'em comin'!!
  25. Looking good, Eric!! That is a true rat, and the suicide shifter makes it all the more dangerous!! Are you going to finish off the seams on the chop or leave it unfinished? If you're going to leave it unfinished, check out the work that Virgil did on his Frankenstein rat last year: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...&hl=frankie He did a great job of replicating the weld lines and gives some tips on how it was done. Keep up the good work,
