OK, OK, I give up!!! I'll change the wheels!! You guys crack me up!! I "may" even drop the rear a little bit more... Thanks for all the input!!

Thanks!! I really fought with this thing to get the "mild custom" look that I wanted in the interior. The taillights are made from translucent red sheet plastic with a small piece of BMF trim around the edges. I don't want them to stand out too much. This is intended to be a very mild custom. No, I'm not going to do any more to the stance. This model HATES me!! I've been struggling with it off-and-on for about a year now!! At this point I just want to get it done!! I must admit that I'm not much of a lowrider fan. The only time I like 'em really low is when they have a monster motor and meats to match!! I'm more of a Pro-Street/Pro-Stock/Pro-Touring kind of guy these days. I am impressed with the paint work on a lot of the lowriders, but professionally I was a bodyman, not a painter. Thanks, again,

You crack me up, Tito!! Thanks for the compliments!! I'm trying to get it done, but it's fighting me all the way!! Take a look at the pics again, I took a lot of the chrome trim off of this one. All that's left chrome are the window openings, some side moldings and the rear roof vent. The rest is gone!! Keep the faith and say a little prayer for this one!! It hates me so much that I may have to get rid of it when it's done!! Regards,

Boy, I've been away from racing too long!!! That looks like some of my Sci-Fi stuff!! Maybe I need to get away from building hotrods for a while and get back to sports cars and race cars...
-
Ajulia, Thats's looking pretty wild!!! I see that you're going for the mailbox slot sized rear window!! This makes my 41 Plymouth hotrod look tame!! Keep on keepin' on, my friend!!

This is one I've been struggling off-and-on with for a long time. I finally figured out what I wanted to do with the interior regarding the seats. The "custom" front seats that come in the kit are at best "interesting", but look nothing like the stock rear seats. To fix that, I cut out the rear seat openings and replaced them with bucket seats from a '94 Corvette ZR1. This pic shows how it looks now with just the base coat of Testors Fabric Tan. I still need to "weather" and detail it a bit to make it look more realistic. Here's couple of shots of the body. I made the hood scoop match the raised portion on the back of the roof near the rear window. When done, the hood will tilt forward. I'll be using the custom bar grille that came in the kit. The tires and wheels are from a 94 Camaro. Here you can see the reshaped taillight openings and the new rear roll pan with the half-round exhaust cut-outs. I used the Z-11 409 from the AMT 62 Bel-Air Super Stock kit instead of the 409 that came in the kit. As you can see, there's still a lot of details to add. Well, I hope that someday this one gets off of the workbench and under glass. The paint still needs to be polished, and if my LHS ever gets me my order of BMF, I'll probably have to use about 1/2 of a sheet of it just to get this one finished. Until then I'll keep messing with it between my other projects... Comment and suggestions are certainly welcome on this one... Regards,

Nice job there. Marty!! The only thing that you might try is a very thin pin stripe between the black and red...maybe an orange... I'd try it with pin striping tape first. If you really like it then you can mask it off and paint it, or just leave the tape on it... What do you think??? (Yes, I was bored...waiting for paint to dry on my 58 Impala...) Regards,

Very nice weathering job!! Not overstated...just right to go with the "X-Gasser - For Sale" sign in the window. Nice touch!! This is the kind of car that would make me cringe when I was a bodyman. The only thing I hated fixing more than fiberglass was RUST!!

I really like the color!! With that car, all your diorama needs is a Christmas tree for staging the lanes!! -
Nice work so far, Matt!! You just can't beat the Testors (and Tamiya) lacquer spray paint for quick, easy and great looking results!! Thanks for the catch, Dave!!

I'll second that!! I'm glad that we don't all like, build and post the same thing. How boring would that be?! I like looking at all of the different builds "On the Workbench" and "Under Glass". If I think that someone has done a good job building a model, even if it's something that I would never consider building myself, I'll compliment them for their workmanship, their craftsmanship or for the vision of their design. They did the work, they deserve the accolades!! Enzo, I love sports cars!! I built only sports car models for the longest time. Like Raul Julia said in the movie "Gumball Rally", "whatsa behind me isa no matta". How could he have said anything else? He was driving one of the world's most beautiful and fastest cars!! Like everyone else, my preference in what I want to build has changed over time. Some day I'll probably kick myself for giving away most of my unbuilt sports car models to friends that still build them. So, please keep building and posting sports cars. They're beautiful to look at and admire. I only wish that I could afford one of them... -
WOW!! I really like the design!! I have a diecast of one of Grumpy's 68 Camaros that this would look GREAT sitting next to!!
-
Now that's a very nice and extremely clean build!!! The paint and all of the detail work looks GREAT!!
-
John, What scale is the model? I remember some 1:16th scale Bugattis from long ago... Looks pretty nice so far!!
-
That is too cool, Bill!! I can't wait to see it at the NNL West!!
-
Then I'm sure we've met. I've spent many hours at D&J. I was surprised to see that Al quit after all the years he was there. See you at the NNL!!
-
Jeff, I'm sorry to hear that you've temporarily lost your motivation for modeling. Honestly, that's a loss for all of us on this forum. Your workmanship motivates us all to do better by seeing what's possible is small scale modeling. The details on the flathead are amazing!! It would be a shame if you don't finish it. Regards,

I agree fully with Harry. I really like the format of this forum "On the workbench" and the "Under Glass" categories. There may be fewer comments here than on other forums, but the comments are from and to a person with a name, not some nebulous “handleâ€. In that, they seem to be more personal and meaningful. -
WOW!!! If they didn't look so evenly spaced and well done I'd probably prescribe some sort of therapy for you!!
-
That's too funny, Cal!! The last time I took the "I'm going to finish this one no matter what it takes" attitude I ended up giving the model away to a friend when it was finally done because the only good thing that I could say about it was that "I FINISHED IT!!" Thanks for the chuckle!!

Nice work so far, Jay!! Those wheels and calipers look great!!
