  1. Yeah...you've just got to love those external push rods!! A detail model builder's dream!! Too cool!! Later,
  2. That's a nice clean build, James! It's too bad that those bumpers are so big, but they had to be there to meet the safety standards... Thanks for sharing!
  3. Looking good, Alyn!! Yeah...we all know about starting yet another project before the one(s) on the bench are done... Later,
  4. OK...everybody sing along..."She's real fine my..."
  5. Yeah...the '67 Camaro SS 350 sticker claimed 295 HP...but they've changed how they measure HP over the years...
  6. Yeah...with all of the cool engines shown and listed, I think that many of the engine designers were/are really artists at heart. How else can you explain the sheer beauty of some of these designs?
  7. Oh yeah...the 572...That's what I needed under the hood of my old Camaro the day a Monte Carlo with a 454 made me feel like I left the line with my emergency brake on... Way too cool for basic but serious HP!! Later,
  8. I had a '67 SS Camaro with a 350. '67 was their first year...what a sweet runner...
  9. Yeah...those are also some fine looking motors!! I thought this thread would get some interesting and really cool responses...
  10. For the 30s and 40s, my favorite is the venerable flathead because it can be built so many ways but always looks cool! For the 50's and 60's I'd have to say the 409 and the HEMI - with either one of them, you know what it is just by looking at the valve covers. For the 70s and 80s I'd have to give the nod to the Boss 351 Cleveland engine. Again for the really cool valve covers. For the 90s, I really like the Lotus designed, Mercury Marine built (LT5) ZR-1 because it is so distinctive looking. Sure, it's not fully domestic, but they came in Vettes. Then there's a whole list of exotic engines (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus...). So, what's your favorite engine and why?
  11. Yeah...I've been in there a few times. There were some interesting and funny conversations going on, mostly about who's car was faster... Last night there was a lot of talk about what people had built and were building.
  12. A friend of mine bought the Torino Cobra with a 429 when they first came out...What a fast car!! Nice build!! Later,
  13. WOW!!! That's really GREEN! The finish looks GREAT!! Later,
  14. Looking good, Bernard!! I really like the stance!! Later,
  15. That's simple, Curt. It's the same answer to the question "why does it have a speedometer instead of a tach?" It's a HEMI. You don't need to lift the hood...unless you want to show your friends what's under there... I like this thread!! Later,
  16. I really like the way you make a complete model out of each subassembly...awesome attention to detail!! Keep it up...you're almost there!! Later,
  17. The detail work is awesome, Darin!! I'll keep following this one until you're done!! Thanks for sharing,
  18. Yeah, Bill...you've got to fix those rear wheels. This one is looking too good to leave them the way they are... Hang in there, you know you can save it!! Like our friend Curt always tells me, "model building is nothing more than a series of fixing mistakes". Later,
  19. It looks like you're off to a good start!! The slideshow feature is pretty cool, too!! Thanks for sharing,
  20. I've cut back to just this one...
  21. Peter, I too like the old art deco styled concept cars. They are awesome, and I like your design. Another one of my favorites was the Buick LeSabre from '51. Franklin Mint released a 1:24th scale diecast of it several years ago but I never found one for a reasonable price. For $10, count me in! My only problem, like some of the other guys, is fitting it into the "cue". I've already got 2 builds on my bench that I've been working on for months... Later,
  22. You don't need a tach, old HEMIs are bullet-proof!! He put in a speedometer for testing on the days when the track clock and timer wasn't working. That's the story and I'm sticking to it... Later,
