If you could only choose ONE photo of any of your builds, wich would it be?
Raul_Perez replied to JAFFA's topic in Model Cars
I remember this build!! It is way too cool!! -
Very clean build!!

Thanks for the kind words. The NNL West is March 7th. Here's the link: http://www.nnlwest.org/index.html See you there!! Later,

You are a wild and crazy guy!!!

Sure...go ahead and blame me, my old friend...I can take it....

I'd have to say that my two favorites are the BRUT funny car, (because it's so well done), and the Salt licker, (because you were able to stuff a Potvin supercharger under the hood without extending the body)!! I can hardly wait to see what, (and how many), you'll finish in '09!! Later,

Geez, Dan...it looks like you "leaned" on this one a bit too hard!! Speaking as a retired bodyman, that looks pretty well done!! Later, -
Unfortunately, I gave away all of my really early, (pre-teen), builds when I was a young teenager. I restarted building again in my early 20s, but gave away or sold all of those builds as well. The earliest model that I still have is a Jag roadster that I built as a race car about 25 years ago. I did a fair amount of work in flairing the wheel openings and integrating the lower front spoiler into the body. For whatever reason, (that I no longer remember), I chose to put a turbocharged 289 SBF engine under the hood. This shot shows how big the front flairs really are and how the spoiler was blended into them. Later,

I'm really sorry to hear about your potential loss. These are really tough times for many good people. On a brighter note, this is my favorite of your builds; I suspect because I tend to personally like the more custom and creative side of this hobby. Thanks for sharing and I wish you and your family all the best in '09. Later,

Curt, my old friend; I think that you could hold your own model show with as much as you build in a year!! I don't know how you do it, especially with as much time as you spend with your girls and all of their own hobbies and activities!! You must have some sort of time machine that you haven't shown me!! So, spend the hour finding your favorite pics of each of your builds and get busy posting!! If you want to limit it to 10 builds, stick with the ones that you built for yourself!! Later,

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, CB!! Yeah, the spine is one of those controversial "love it", "hate it" features that I added to the show car and carried over to the hauler. I like it, too. Thanks!! I'm actually "almost" happy enough with the paint as it is, but I will sand out the little bit of orange peel that's there and polish it to match the finish of the show car. Later, -
Boy, oh boy...another set of award winners that I'd be hard pressed to find a favorite in!! I sure am glad that I'm not a judge at any of the model contests that you guys back east attend. I'd run out of the room screaming, (all the while pulling out my hair), if I had to pick a winner!! There are just too many GREAT builds to narrow it down to one favorite!! Thanks for sharing your builds, Randy!! Next year you can join in by sharing the blame for getting the remaining builders to post their year's accomplishments!! Later,

Raul_Perez replied to JAFFA's topic in Model Cars
OK...up to now I've only commented on pics in this post from other builders that I really liked, but I'll go ahead and tip my hand to my favorite build, and the ONE picture of it that I like the best. It's my '57 Chevy Z06 Pickup. For more reasons than I care to list, (or that you'll be interested in reading ), this is undoubtedly my favorite of my builds. Later, -
It's all good!! Life would be way too boring if we all built the same old model!!

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, Mark!! Now that the truck is cleared, I'm a bit more motivated to get the stripes and paint finished on the trailer and get this one finished!! Later, -
Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, Dave!! It'll be a long while before I take on a project this big, (in size), again. If it wasn't for a good friend of mine giving me a new display case that he no longer has room for I'd have my work cut out for myself just to find room for it when its done! That's why I got away from building the larger scale models several years ago. Thanks, Clay!! I'm hoping that this is inspiration for you to finish your hauler and trailer, too! Later, -
Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
No, for now I've decided to only put the decals on the trailer. I'm going to print and clearcoat the decals tonight so that I can apply them to the trailer tomorrow, including the smaller decal that I thought of using on the back of the bed in case I change my mind. The gauge faces were especially easy on this one...I used the decal from the kit. On other builds, I found pictures of gauge clusters on eBay; photo reduced them; then printed and glued them in place. Later, -
No...I can't pick a favorite...they all look excellent!! Keep up the GREAT work into '09!!

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks!! This kind of build certainly takes a lot of time and a lot of room on the bench!! Thanks!! I'm glad to see that some people like it, too. It's interesting how custom builds, like various forms of art, can polarize people's opinion on any given piece of work. Later, -
With this being my first full year to the MCM forum, I don't recall if everyone posted their year's worth of builds at the beginning of '08 or not, so I don't know if this is an MCM tradition or just something that got started this year. After seeing a few others post their collection of builds for the year, I was initially a bit reluctant to do the same. Then after another day went by and more of you were posting your builds for the year I thought "why not?", and did the same. Over the past few days, many more of you have posted your builds for the year. Some of you also appeared to do so with initial reluctance, (based on the title of your post). After seeing so many of you following along with this theme I've got to say that I think it's a GREAT idea. To me it's been like looking through the yearend Model Contest issue of MCM where all of the builds for the year are highlighted!! So, if this is an MCM tradition then GREAT, I'll support it again next year. If it's not then I think that we should make it a tradition starting with this year. Later,

You are a wild and crazy guy!! Your builds are always inspiring!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Yes, I'd loose the flower thingy on the front...

You should be able to use Windex or an ammonia based cleaner on a cloth or paper towel to remove the adhesive from the BMF. Don't use Isopropyl Alchol (IPA)!! It will remove your paint... Later,

60's styled 2005 "RETRO-VETTE" COUPE
Raul_Perez replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I always did like that hood design, and you integrated it perfectly into the build!! Don't stop now...eager eyes are watching your progress!! Later, -
This one is my favorite!! It just looks too cool with the modern wheels!! Later,
