Oh Bernard, I hope that you didn't really change the design because of my comment!! I was just joking!! That element of danger is part of the charm of real rat rods!! Oh well, at least you didn't cover the entire driveshaft... Later,

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, Scott!! We'll miss you (and your Vette) at the NNL, but you made the right choice. 50 years together is definately something to celebrate!! We'll catch you and the finished Vette next year!! Thanks, Mike!! It took a while to get all of the lines on the truck sorted out, to my liking AND look like it was made to compliment the show car. Once that was done, the mods to the trailer came pretty easily. So why does everyone think that I can't top this when we've got guys on the forum like CB and Tree Hugger Dave to continually inspire us with their wild designs? You guys are too funny!! Later, -
1940's hotrod 1929 Ford Roadster ****UPDATED 7-18-09!****
Raul_Perez replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Dennis, That is looking really cool!! I also like hotrods from that era. Here's a couple of pics from a similar build that I did several years ago, but in mine I used the flathead engine from the AMT '34 Ford. Keep up the GREAT work and thanks for sharing, -
Yeah boy...like getting a necktie stuck in a paper shredder, don't let a loose cuff from your shirt sleeve get to close to that spinning U-joint or they'll be calling you One-Armed Willy. And, while what's left of your arm is spinning around the driveshaft, beating you senseless while you try to get everything stopped, you might reconsider your design intent on the next build! Later,

John, It must be that oxygen poor environment out there on Mars that's giving you so much trouble with outgassing. Without the correct atmospheric pressure to keep all of those nasty little microscopic atoms of gas from wanting to escape the top later of your paint, you'll be popping air bubbles in Skwirly's topcoat like a teenager with a bad case of acne for a long time to come! On the lighter side, it looks like old Skwirly is finally starting to see things your way!! Later,

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, John!! Like I said, Bernard has been a great help throughout the entire build. Doing the artwork for the decal was the icing on the cake!! Thanks, George!! I appreciate the recognition and have to say that I'm also inspired by many of the builders on this site. But honestly, there wasn't all that much planning that went into the set. Due to space constraints, I didn't think of building a hauler and a trailer until after I bought one for Clay. Once I saw how nice it was I decided to buy and build one for myself. If you follow the thread from the start, there were several changes made to the truck as it evolved from raw plastic to a painted model, and there are still a few things I'd like to change if it wasn't already painted... Very cool Willys!! The spun parts really add to a nice build!! Later,

55 Chevy Stormy Monday - Rear Suspension
Raul_Perez replied to Dave Mikrut's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking good, Dave!! I really like the 1:1 car and the model will make a really cool mini-me version!! Later, -
That's coming along very nicely!! I'd make the hood tilt forward just like you have it. Later,

Jerry Cardinal's El Matador!
Raul_Perez replied to jbwelda's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, Jerry nailed it on this one!! The chassis alone is a work of art, all made from brass with fully functional steering and suspension. The engine and transmission, also brass, completes the awesome chassis. Then there's the body and the interior!! I'll have to get Jerry to post some pics for you all to see. Well Bernard, I only got one photo of it today, but I know that Jerry has a whole lot more to share. For now, here's the one I shot today. Enjoy and I'll work with Jerry to get some in process and final pics posted next week. Later, -
Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, Dale!! Yeah, that's one thing I really like about this hobby...there are so many diverse areas of interest, experience and creativity all shared in one common place. Yep!! That's the one!! Thanks again, Bernard!! It makes the trailer POP and helps tie the whole set together!! Later, -
Dale, Your creations are just too cool!! The body styling and colors are awesome!! Thanks for sharing,

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man

Thanks, Marty! Thanks, Clay!! I can hardly wait to see yours done with that nasty Stude salt flat racer sitting proudly on the trailer!! Take care, -
Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, John!! Our friend Bernard (GBK1) made the logo for me, I think from a picture he found on my Fotki site. Bernard was also a GREAT help and source of inspiration when I built the Raptor, so it was only fitting that he helped with the hauler and the trailer. Later, -

Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks, guys!! I'll try to post a couple of better pics tomorrow afternoon. The black background makes the cream color on the center stripe almost look white. I'll have to try a white background or shoot it outside if we get a bit of sun tomorrow. Later, -
Raptor Hauler - A Big Truck for a Big Man
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here are a couple of mockup pics before I finish this build over the President's Day holiday. The truck is polished and is almost ready for final assembly. The trailer still needs to be polished, I still need to narrow the tires and wheels so that they fit into the fenders better and I still need to BMF the ramps. This angle shows the mirrors on the truck a bit better. They came from a late model Mustang. Well, here's to getting this one finished and moving on to the next project!! Later, -
Very nice build!! I really like the back end!! Thanks for sharing,

You're a building machine!! Where did all of these models come from?! If you keep going at this pace we'll have to hold the NNL West at your house next year!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,
-
And, at half-off, how could you go wrong!!
-
Very cool idea and beautifully executed!! The wood finish with the red paint makes a perfect combination!! Thanks for sharing,
-
Man-oh-man...you've been busy!! What's the matter, the girls haven't been busy with after-school activities lately? I don't recall you ever building that many cars this fast!! I think I finish about one model for each ten that you build!! You can also bring this one next week when we get together for lunch!! Later,
-
Yeah...me too!! I think I have one of those kits out in the garage somewhere...maybe I'll have to go find it and see what happens next! Later,
-
Oh yeah!! That's looking like a pretty fine build there my old friend!! Bring it with you when you come over for lunch next week and I might just have to take it off of your hands!! Later,
