I Took A Break From The Forum...

Thanks for the notice, Billy, and if this connection gets any slower, we'll never be able to notice that you're gone, either... -
April 20th Get Together
Raul_Perez replied to m408's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No problem, Aaron! I'm sure that this is only the first of several Milt NNLs! We'll catch up with you next time, -
Anthony, I would really like to learn more about the clear you're using. 1) What is it thinned with or is it "ready to use"? 2) Does it have a catalyst? 3) If not, does it come in a can? Thanks,
-
No problem, young Padawan...would you like for me to send you a full color, pictorial illustration and tutorial on how it's done? You know I'm only here to help you. No pics yet from me, either...you also know that anything I'm thinking of building is still wrapped tightly in cellophane!

Very nice, Michael!! I know how much work goes into making that chassis pan look that good!
-
Very nice base, Virgil!! I like it a lot!! The car's pretty cool, too!! I remember it from quite a while back...
-
Oh yeah...that rear view shot just screams out "I'm nasty...don't F*** with me!!" Thanks for sharing,
-
Looking good, Brian!! Are you coming to Milt's NNL this Sunday? If so, please bring these with you!

Hey Anthony, next time you're in town stop by and I'll teach you how to make your paint jobs shine! Seriously, you should post a step-by-step tutorial on how you get your paint that nice. The finish and luster is amazing!! I'm sure that a lot of people here, me included, would really like to see how you do your paint jobs (including all of the materials that you use). Later,
-
Yep, those are the ones. He sells them through SMBC. I'll probably never use anything else. They're that nice.

When Did "nnl" Events Become Contests?

Thanks for the chuckle, Lyle!! It's true, reality makes a better read than anything someone can makeup. That was GREAT!! -
Yeah...what do you need??
-
I'll join in on this one! I need to build a ratrod for the 2009 NNL West. The theme is going to be rats and cats.

I Took A Break From The Forum...

Well I tried and would have noticed if my browser didn't timeout and disconnect from the forum repeatedly! Honestly!! Next time I'll send a carrier pigeon...it might be quicker! -
You guys are too funny!!

I don't want them either. They few that I get are given away to the local scout troop to reuse for their Pinewood Derby race! Nick, Yes, I too would rather have my friends tell me what they do or don't like about a particular build than to get a trophy that no one will ever see. That's how well all work together to improve our skills. One of my friends criticized the ###### out of a custom model I built last year, telling me everything that he thought was wrong about it. I laughed and agreed with him because everything he pointed out as being wrong were features that I didn’t like either. Then we talked about how to do it better next time. Jonathan, Yes!! That's one of the things I like best about THIS hobby and THIS forum...the sharing of ideas, opinions, skills and parts!! If we all had the same ideas, opinions, skills and parts there wouldn't be a need or desire to even log on to a forum because we'd all know what each other was thinking and we'd all have the same skills and kits in our collections. So thanks for continually sharing your ideas, opinions, skills and most of all, your parts...now what have you got that I need??
-
Yeah...the T-Bolt I'm bringing/building has one on it and I'll bring some packaged ones for everyone to see.

Milt, I agree that the thread about the "low rider old guys vs. young guys" got out of hand. For that, Kevin “EvilOne†apologized. But I don’t feel that the “Is it or isn’t it an NNL?†topic has gone down the same path. Sure there are a wide range of opinions, but that’s often the case with almost any topic. As long as the guys don’t start slamming each other for their opinion then it’s all good, constructive discussion meant to improve the hobby. The little get together we’ve put together for this weekend is pretty much as pure of an NNL event as anyone could ever want. It’ll be a bunch of guys getting together to do a little “show and tell†of their latest projects and to share some hints and tips. All egos get left at the door and no one goes home with a trophy of any kind. We’ll even call this one Milt’s NNL. I can’t wait to see you and the rest of the guys on Sunday. Regards,
-
I think it's a mistake. Have you seen the new pre-wired resin distributors from SMBC? They look a lot more realistic than the DM ones with the PE top piece.

I Took A Break From The Forum...
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A couple of you misunderstood the "tongue-in-cheek†approach I took in letting Gregg know just how slow the forum has been responding. No, I really didn’t take a break…how could I ever leave all of the fun we’re having? -
Rollin, I really like the two-tone Silverado! The colors are awesome!!

When Did "nnl" Events Become Contests?

Yeah, Harry...you're more than welcome to attend the NNL West as well, BUT only if you bring a large collection of your art work to put on display and share with us! -
When Did "nnl" Events Become Contests?
Raul_Perez replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting point, Rob. Yes, I was very competitive when I was younger...I had to have the fastest, best looking car and motorcycle...blah, blah, blah... Now that I'm a lot older, I don't mind driving a 4dr sedan that I bought from my mother-in-law for $5; cruising around on my Goldwing while watching the pocket-rockets zoom past me; and spending more time sharing what I've learned about model building with you guys here on the forum than trying to prove that I can build a better model by beating someone else at a "contest". -
Maybe that's because between the time that I posted a note saying that I was going to take a break and the time that I returned, they were still waiting for the first post to open that said I was leaving and just jumped ahead to the one that said I was back! Seriously, Gregg, we know that you're working on the problem and we appreciate your efforts, but I'm surprised how many times my browser has been completely timing-out recently while waiting for a post to open on the forum. Thanks for your continued support in making this the best model forum on the web,
