Superb build..... -
Seat decals applied, I'll let them dry out before giving them a coat of K Colors semi matt clear coat
-
Not yet, but I'll post on here when it is with price etc....
-
Not exactly sure which part is warped, but the floorpan and engine bay didn't want to sit flush together, glue, clamps and elastic bands was the only way to get everything fitted together.

You can usually find either the Revell Germany or Airfix version of Ebay pretty cheaply, there the Aoshima kit reboxed, obviously if you want the Ro-Style Wheels you need the later Aoshima kit
-
Now I know how Revell got so many colour call outs wrong on their latest Land Rover kit, when they can't even get them right on a German car, not only does the fuel injection metering head and air hose look like it's been drawn by a five year old, they tell you to paint it aluminium and steel, good job I used to work for the Volkswagen Audi Group.....

There were plenty of hobby stores in Hong Kong when I was there last year selling them, but I'd already bought a few other hobby products, and enamel paints aren't allowed in hand luggage, I've heard good things about Tamiya enamel paint, I'm looking forward to giving them a try, I'll probably end up buying more of them.

Stunning build, I built one a few years ago, one of AMT's better kits....
-
Superb build, I'm wishing I hadn't sold mine a few years ago....

And a very nice first car, I thought I was lucky when I received my first car as a 16th birthday present, a 1969 Hillman Imp in Polar white with a black vinyl interior with a whopping 875c.c engine

Yes, I'm aware of that, but that is much further down the line, I've just ordered some gold BMF to do the other gold trim parts, first time I've used the gold BMF, hopefully it's as good to use as the regular chrome.
-
I did a lot of work on the hood and bootlid before primer and paint, running a scalpel blade around the underside of both and the lip around the opening got them sitting as flush as I could get them
-
Nearly forgot to do the chrome trim on the rocker panel, it's amazing just how much chrome there is on a 57 Bel Air
-
One side finished, had to touch up the Stainless steel trim, I'd airbrushed it using Rustoleum Stainless enamel, but it didn't like being masked, turned out ok though, so a little more, no a lot more still to do.....
-
Both really, as it gives two edges to cut up to, I've found it more useful when cutting around items like wheel arch trim, but as you also mentioned it does protect the paintwork from any accidental damage from the scalpel blade

I don't think there is a retailer over here that stocks Scale Finishes or MCW paints, I get my paint direct from Mike at MCW https://mcwfinishes.com/ I've only ever tried Scale Finishes once and hated there enamel paint as it never dried and got stripped, I believe their lacquer paint is base coat, I much prefer to use acrylic lacquer, no need for any clear coat, just polishes up after it's dried up. The magazine I write for is Scale Modelling Now, it's an online magazine only, and well worth the £15 a year subscription, obviously I don't have to pay as I've been writing for the magazine for over 10 years. https://www.scalemodellingnow.com/

Although I've still got work to do on other models, for some reason I felt like doing some Bare Metal foil, so got the 57 Bel Air off the backburner, only managed to get two trim pieces done as I've been busy with other things today

Welcome aboard Nigel....

Taking a break from the workbench
GeeBee replied to Hotrod 97's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had to do that at the beginning of the year when we moved down to London, I didn't want to work from a small desk and not have all my tools to hand, so I left everything back in our home back in Solihull, we're planning on moving back down to London very soon, so my modelling might have to take a back seat while I get back to my photography work. Your modelling will be waiting for you when the times right..... -
Welcome aboard Mike....
