  1. I really wasn't happy with the paint finish on the Revell Golf GTi, so it's been sitting in the stripper, the door panel lines have been re-scribed, and now it's back in primer, hopefully round 2 with the basecoat will get done next week.
  2. This illustration show everything made of mild steel, the door frames were metal with the outer door skins made of Duraplast and screwed on, the front wings, rear wings were stuck on and a few screws holding them in place, the door panel was simply stuck on, and used to pop off in a heavy collision.
  3. If you get the Revell Trabant 60th anniversary kit, you get a set of decals to replicate one of the Trabant safari cars
  4. A little more airbrushing done on the Golf GTi, side panels clearcoated where they are body colour, they can be masked once it's dry to paint the door cards black, interior parts painted in Revell Tank grey #78, thinned with lacquer thinners.
  5. More airbrushing done on the Land Rover, interior body colour parts clearcoated so it can be masked up to paint the rubber matting, engine painted using Testors intermediate blue enamel, and front grille painted using Tamiya silver leaf.
  6. Last month I was just going to book a flight to Budapest to do some photography, then everything went on lockdown, hopefully I'll make that trip as soon as things get back to normality.
  7. MCW makes the Sunset Coral, just sent Mike a message to see if he can mix the Silver grey metallic, if so I'll be painting it like this
  8. I ordered this one at the beginning of the week, it arrived earlier today, not that I needed another Trabant, but I really only wanted it for the 3D puzzle of the Berlin Wall
  9. Did i really need another Edsel ?? of course not, but I'm a sucker for a good offer, I think I need to get one on the bench very soon.....
  10. Revell Germany only, here's one in your neck of the woods https://www.ebay.com/c/665229057
  11. What he said, if it's anything like the 68 Chevelle to build, it's going to be a cracking kit.....
  12. They released a Monte Carlo rally version, which is pretty hard to find, but I'm hoping they release more Mini kits in the future.
  13. A little more airbrushes done over the last few days, gloss black on the chassis and other parts, Alclad semi gloss aluminium used for the aluminium parts and Testors enamel used for the steel coloured parts.
  14. Absolutely superb scratch building skills.....
  15. Something I don't have the luxury of, sadly the bricks and mortar stores have pretty much closed down, there's still a few good one's, but sadly not around where I live, didn't even find any down in London.
  16. I use allsorts Tom, wooden cocktail sticks, small crocodile clips on bamboo sticks, wooden ice lolly sticks, 2 inch spring clamps, infact anything i can hold parts with while i do the airbrushing, always placed on the part that won't be seen once the parts have been fitted.
  17. Managed to get all the parts that needed to be painted satin black airbrushed today
  18. Satin black parts all airbrushed, those Land Rover seats oozes 1970's black vinyl
  19. I'd really like to get hold of the Revell Golf Rabbit kit that wasn't available this side of the pond, when i was working at VW, we had a MK1 Rabbit in this colour, much nicer interior with a padded dashboard and air conditioning, I borrowed that car as much as I could.
  20. Still too cold in the painting room to get any clearcoat applied, so decided to get the wheels painted for the Golf GTi, VW L091 is the correct colour for VW wheels until 1993, the actual year i stopped working for Volkswagen
  21. We must have crossed swords, that's the year i arrived in Solihull from Spain, I was living with an Aunt just by the Land Rover factory.
  22. To be honest Don, I haven't actually been into Solihull town centre for a very long time, but Marks & Spenser have not long closed down their store there,Costa coffee has been downgraded into a smaller store, and we've finally got a Burger King, Beatties has been renamed House of Fraser.
  23. Superb build, I'm thinking I need to add one of these to my stash....
  24. Superb build....
  25. Vauxhall's first in-house estate car was the 1957 Victor, before that they were all sent off to be converted by Martin Walters or Grosvenor.
