  1. that was my thinking on this kit Dave, I put my pre order just after they were announced at last years German toy fair, even though the price of the kit wasn't listed, when they became available, I got an email telling me the price of just over £63 !.! Naturally I cancelled my order, their Renault 4 kits were listed at £40, although I never paid more than £35 for mine, luckily over the weekend I got a cracking offer from a hobby shop I've been using for quite a few years, £36.99 each, worked out cheaper than getting them from HLJ or Lucky Model in Japan, so I managed to get 2 at that price.
  2. Just been going through some of my reference material for the DS, apparently the smoother brushed C pillar trim panels were only fitted to the Pallas version of the DS,
  3. It's around $6.70 a gallon over here !!
  4. If you check the times of each post, you'll see my post was actually posted close on a hour and a half earlier ...
  5. Looking forward to watching this build, as I have a few on there way to me, for years I've been a great fan of the DS I've never drove one, although I have driven the slightly later DX, beautiful ride ...
  6. The Early Cars had the panel done in brushed Aluminium, later cars had a slightly rippled effect, still aluminium though, I'll have to dig into my reference material to find the exact date they were changed, I have also seen a few of the early version painted in the same colour as the roof panel,
  7. Superb build, I wish I hadn't seen it now, as I think I need to add one of these to my stash ...
  8. Welcome back ...
  9. Superb build, and very realistic weathering, Love it ...
  10. Getting the Windows fitted, this is the only part of a build that gives me a few headaches, you can have the best paint finish, but get the glass wrong, with scratches or glue marks and it sticks out like a carrot in an omelet ...
  11. Couldn't hold out any longer, so I've bought two of these, the good news is that I got them at trade price of £36.99 each,
  12. Yes, it should be finished in the week, not a great deal to do on it now, did a little work in the hobby room this morning, masked up all the window glass, and airbrushed vht Matt black, I really like this paint as it airbrushed really nice and dried a real good black that replicates the rubber seal better than anything else I've tried over the years, another thing I always were when handling the clear parts after they have been polished is some white cotton gloves, luckily I still have a few pairs left over from my darkroom days, they stop any grease and finger prints getting on the clear parts, the front & rear screens have now been fitted, using a few small drops of clear 5 minute epoxy
  13. Windows polished ready to be masked so the rubber seal can be airbrushed, before doing any masking and airbrushing, I always do a test fit first, also fitted the little radio aerial, which had been airbrushed in Alclad and the base hand brushed in flat black
  14. Well this has been on the bench for just over a year now, don't think they took that long to build a real one though, having health problems, family bereavement and loosing my Mojo didn't help matters
  15. Simply Stunning ...
  16. A few interesting re-releases, the Transit van and Lamborghini Miura are the older Esci models,
  17. Front & Rear Bumpers fitted
  18. It's getting nearer to being finished ... Paintwork has passed quality control It now has a name
  19. Now the lenses have all been airbrushed, it's time to start fixing them in place, the chrome trim around the front indicator lenses was done with BMF
  20. Thanks Charlie, I'll get this one finished very soon, done a little today, now I just need to mask up all the windows to airbrush the rubber seal in matt black, then all the small parts like the door handles, window wipers and mirrors can be fixed in place, The rear fog lamp housings were given the BMF treatment indside to replicate the reflector, then the lenses on both the front and rear bumpers were fixed into place using Tamiya clear acrylic, it makes great glue for clear parts, after all, have you tried to remove the lid of this if any of it has gotten onto the thread and dried with the lid in place ?, and of course, when it dries, it dried perfectly clear
  21. Mine's in the small bedroom at the front of the house, yes it could be a spare bedroom, but then people would have an excuse to come and stay, and I'd rather build models,
  22. Welcome Aboard
  23. I've already got two of these in the stash, but I picked this one up for £25.00
  24. I noticed a post about this on Facebook this morning, definitely my kind of subject, and just as I said I wasn't going to buy anymore models for a while, I'm sure I can sneak a few more in without being seen .... http://www.hasegawa-model.co.jp/product/hc21/
