Did a little tweaking with the bonnet hinges, and at least there's no gap on the leading edge of the bonnet, so that's the best it's going to get and I can live with it now ...the next one I'll build I'm going to hold the bonnet in with masking tape while fixing the headlamp rings in place, as I think they need to come up just a little.
-
It doesn't seem to be catching on anything at the front, the hinges are held in place by the dashboard panel, before the dash went in the bonnet lined up and fitted perfectly, I might try tweeking the bonnet hinge to see if I can get it to sit down better
-
Rear end finished, not a lot to do to get the build finished now, door handles, mirrors, windows, after the rubber seals have been airbrushed on them, then a couple of wiper arms, and it will be ready to pop into the showcase.

If you have 37 minutes to spare, this is a much better film ...

Happy Birthday Mark, hope you have a great day ..... -
Got the front end finished today, sadly the bonnet doesn't line up perfectly, but watching the video on Youtube of them building the Trabant, I think I didn't put as much pressure on the panels as they did at the factory

Do you or don't you?

I usually airbrush all the wheel arches and around the sills, but the rest (as they are never going to be seen) get's left in bare styrene -
Back in the late 80's I was on a bus from Valkenburg to Amsterdam, and a Porsche 911 Targa cop car passed us, and yes the roof panels were off, I have seen the Golf Cabriolet's used by the German police, strange but true, as far as I can remember Dutch police cars were white and red, not white and green like the German police cars

GeeBee replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks for the heads up about the shipping, just changed mine, and as the Yen is pretty low against the Pound, I've added another one to the order, pretty silly just ordering the one at those prices -

Not too far until this one's finished Shay, been doing a bit of work airbrushing the lamps in various clear paints, got the front fog lamps finished, the reflectors were done using chrome BMF, the lenses were done using Tamiya clear yellow

Superb build, what's not to like ? ....

Well after a few attempts to get the paint right, I repainted the one side with some paint I had left in a jar, it got a good stir, and the finish was brilliant, but once all the masking was taken off, the paint had a slightly darker shade to it, anyway after thinking long and hard, I decided to take the paint off and start with a black canvas, the stripper I was using took off the gloss coat, but thankfully didn't touch the lacquer primer, so I'm now ready to start all over again ....

Been cracking on with this one, the dash, interior and boot interior was all dry fitted first, once happy with everything, they were taken apart and fixed together using 5 minute epoxy, it's starting to look like a Trabant now, I can almost smell the 2 stroke fumes .... Rear lamps airbrushed using Tamiya clear orange and red acrylic
