This is one I bought at a flea market. I stripped the blue paint off of it and found that the body was heavily crazed from whatever primer and paint the previous owner used. This paint is Craftsmart metallic brown thinned with and sprayed through my airbrush over Tamiya light grey primer, with 2 coats of Testors Aztec clear. I will likely give it a couple more coats of clear yet.

I started painting this with Spaz Stix red and although I really liked the color, it was getting so thick that I was losing detail. So into the superclean it went! My second attempt was using Testors Aztec red pearl with Aztec clear topcoat.

Does anyone know of a place in Canada to get this done?

Interesting options... I am leaning towards scratch building one. If I do make one from sheet styrene, would I just make a butt-joint using regular testors model cement?

How can I tell the difference?

Thanks for the offer! I will be able to come up with something, once I put my mind to it.

Nice job on that downdraft paint booth!

The Corvette, '64 chevy, Ferrari and Porsche are all complete. The 56 Ford p/u may be complete?? The '39 chevy is missing one front shock. The '65 Chevelle "parts" car is missing the engine, tires, clock and one muffler. I am heading back to the flea market today to see if I can scrounge up some more parts. The guy I bought them from said he had 2300 models in his lifetime, and is thinning them out!

It does look like a nice Kit! I am missing the air cleaner and one hub cap/wheel from the '61 impala. The Ferrari is complete. I haven't checked the rest yet.

I got a tip from a customer about another flea market where I scored these for $15. I will have to go through the instructions and take inventory of what is missing. I also got a box full of chrome parts. The windshield frame on the Porsche is kind of melted, so I am not sure if I can fix that?

I went to a local flea market today and bought these three pre-owned models for $25. They seem to be fairly complete. The Mercedes is missing the windshield and the A pillars are broken and missing. There is no instruction sheet for the Ford Pickup. There was another seller there that had an AMT Silhouette with no instruction sheet that I wanted, but she wanted $60. for it, so I passed thankfully!

How easy does it come out ? If I have to drill it out, I may as well scrape paint.

What kind of a treatment did you give those heads? It almost looks like mirror tiles...or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Thanks again for the compliments. I was at Michaels today and found this cheap craft paper to use as a back drop. What a difference from the towel! I may have to start working on a diorama.

Nice tip Casey! None of these are through holes though, so I guess I am stuck with scraping. Maybe I will do a test to see how the regular testors cement sticks through paint. Or maybe I'll just brush it.

I want to spray paint the engine of a model. There are a dozen little spots where the manifolds, distributor, etc. are to be attached. Does anyone have a trick for masking these areas, or do you just scrape the paint off later. I looked at some microscale liquid mask at the LHS today, but it said not to use acrylic paints over it. Is there a better brand available? Thanks, Greg.

How do I get a quote or slogan to appear at the bottom of all my posts automatically? Thanks.

How many builds do you have going at the same time? I have only ever worked on one model at a time, but I am going to start another so that I will have something to do while glue and paint are drying. I imagine some of you must have multiples?

Congrats. I was expecting to see a 500th anniversary model??

I too am amazed at the details like the window and the missing battery caps. I am surprised to see the rad cap still there! Nice Job!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I have stripped all the red paint off with super clean and most of the white primer is off. I am going to soak it again and/or try alcohol. I have bought some Tamiya fine grey primer that I will use this time. I am reluctant to use the spaz stix paint again unless I can thin it down some. I will have to do a little experimenting I guess. BTW Steve, that Galaxie is BEAUTIFUL!

Nicely done Dan. Where did you get the Willys pickup? I want one! I sent you a PM.
