Sorry, Not in my book

The methamphetamine problem has gotten out of hand. -
Greetings. Great to see younger folks getting into the hobby. I think it’s important for us older heads to foster the interest of the generations behind us. As an aside; do you have any family from Virginia? My great grandmother shares your last name. Anyways, happy building.

You had me at suicide doors. I’ll be following intently.

The kit was molded in kind of a Georgia Pollen Yellow and the body was in great shape so I went straight on the raw plastic with 3 coats of Tamiya Pearl Yellow. I violated my own always-use-primer rule because I wanted to se what Pearl Yellow over pasty yellow would look like. It turned out more of a sunflower yellow than lemon yellow than I thought, but I liked the uniqueness of it so I decided to keep it that way. Thanks for looking.

Really nice! I love those old 330s and Polaras.

Holy smokes! Those are all stunning. But that Willys, trailer, trike ensemble is out of this world. Consider your skills admired, good sir.

Dang, not an i undotted or a t uncrossed. That lil hot rod is razor sharp! Beautiful, crisp detail and craftsmanship.

Really slick and classy looking AMG.

Jeez Louise that color couldn’t be anymore perfect for a Road Runner! Top notch build all the way around.

Just a few pics of what I’ve managed to get under glass in the past 6 months after 25+ years away from the hobby. I’m still knocking the rust off, honing old skills and refining some new (to me) tricks and techniques. All are certainly flawed, but the builds sure were fun. I’ll post in order of completion. Panther Pink ‘71 ‘Cuda 1974 Road Runner ’09 Challenger SRT8 ’69 Charger General Lee ’67 Hemi Charger I’m particularly proud of The General. That kit cursed me as a kid. As I recall there were three failed attempt to build it. Turns out it wasn’t just operator error because this kit was an absolute dumpster fire. This time around I was determined not to let it beat me. Let me know what ya think and thanks for looking.

Allow myself to introduce....... myself

Thanks, Ace. I got a chance to browse the site a bit. Very cool stuff. I’m definitely gonna try to make a meeting to check things out in person. -

One wagon build I’ve always thought would be really cool is the Wagon Queen Family Truckster from National Lampoon’s Vacation. Only instead of one build it would actually be 3 or 4 builds of the same car in the different stages of disintegration as the movie progressed. One of which, of course, would have to have the empty dog collar leashed to the rear bumper. Thanks for the warm welcome, dm and everyone else. Live long and Mopar. -
Flat-out gorgeous build!! Laying out that piping on the interior so laser-straight must have taken hours.

Best: 1994 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4, V-6, 5 spd. Bought it in 2003 for $1200. Currently has 302,000 miles, no leaks, knocks or pings and in 4 low it’ll climb a tree. Other than a starter, alternator and distributor no mechanical issues ever. Favorite: My first. 1971 Dodge 2wd shortbed. 318 bored over, 4bbl on a high-rise edelbrock intake, Purple racing cam, 727 torque flite, Hurst ratchet shifter, Plymouth posi-trac rear end, dual pipes on headers with Thrush glass packs and the icing on the cake; an authentic Road Runner “beep beep” horn. Metallic charcoal gray, red pinstripe and a red leather bench seat that my mom re-upholstered herself for my 17th birthday.

I’m Chris. I’m a former U.S. Marine who was born and raised in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Currently, I live and work in Atlanta. I got back into this hobby that I loved as a kid after 25 years away about six months ago and everytime I sit down at the bench I wonder why I waited so long to pick it back up. My heart is with American muscle cars although from time to time I will sprinkle in a supercar or hot rod as a pallet cleanser. I love old Fairlanes, Impalas, GTOs, Galaxies, Cyclones, Cougars and 4-4-2s, etc; but Mopar is ingrained in my DNA. For my money there are no cars sexier than 2nd gen Chargers or E-body Barracudas. Anywho, I’ve been perusing the forum for a couple weeks and decided it was time to make an introduction. I’ve really been digging “On The Workbench.” The amount of effort, work and craftsmanship I’ve seen you fine folks put into builds, restorations and reclamations is astonishing and inspiring. I’m focusing on box-stock-ish builds until I feel I’ve knocked off all the rust but I already have a couple ideas for some kit-bashed putty-bombs. I look forward to conversing with and learning from all of you and will be posting some photos soon.
