  1. Beautiful build. What color is that? It could just be my eyes or a glare, but it looks like there’s a hint of orange in it.
  2. Great paint scheme. Beautiful build.
  3. There’s alot to love about this build. Stunning detail work and well researched to boot.
  4. Gorgeous build and excellent photos. That color combo is spot on and just screams early 70s.
  5. That is vivid!! Beauty of a build, Jim.
  6. Thanks. Let me apologize. The wood I used was actually walnut with an oak stain applied to it. I ordered a bed kit online but didn’t like the wood that was included. Fortunately, I stumbled across the walnut at Hobby Town USA. It had much more pronounced grain than the bass wood in the bed kit. I considered sectioning it then decided that that was beyond my skill level so I did some math and laid out where to glue down the rails after I gave it 4 good coats of semi-transparent stain/wash. After the rails were in place I gave it 6 good coats of gloss polycrylic, sanding with 4000 grit between the last three coats and wet sanding after the last. Then I glued it down to the existing bed with a 5 minute epoxy. The underside is a tri-color dry brushing technique to simulate wood grain on the polystyrene.
  7. Started this kit thinking it would get me all the way thru summer, but as it turned out, it was quite an easy build. I wanted to make it as stock as possible. I added a real walnut bed, plug wires and kept the grille chrome (I felt like it needed just a little “pop”) and used the California mirrors because I like the way they look on older trucks. I also used medical tape on the seat to simulate cloth. The paint is Model Masters Big Bad Blue with Wimbleton White accents and Testor’s semi-gloss clear. Thanks for looking!
  8. Great looking Dodge! I’ve gotta land myself one of those kits.
  9. Looks great! Always remember, one man’s shelf of doom may be another’s trophy case. Sometimes I enjoy it when the kit puts up a little bit of a fight.
  10. That blue is something special!
  11. A pair of beauties if ya ask me. That engine detail is fantastic!
  12. On my way home from a round of golf and almost dropped a deuce when I saw this winged warrior just casually sitting in a parking lot along the road.
  13. I love everything about it. Beautiful, classic build.
  14. I also have one in the stash, however, after seeing yours I’m gonna go throw it in the trash. JK. Seriously, that is a stunner!! In case no one else mentioned the paint job......just.....Wow.
  15. Not sure how plentiful HobbyTown USAs are in the rest of the country, but I drive past 2 HobbyLobbys and 3 Michaels to get to to the HTown in my area. They have 4x the model selection of Michaels IMO.
  16. Man alive, that is one clean, clinical, razor-sharp build. Pure artistry!
  17. Really nice looking Charger.
  18. Wow. That is one clean wagon. I love the finish on the chrome and the flawless paint job.
  19. Great job! Man that thing looks tough in purple. I built the same kit a few months back. Thought it was one of the more precise fitting kits I’ve ever built. Looks like you had a lot more success with that wrap-over decal on the nose than I did. I failed in epic fashion TWICE. I too hate the black outline on the windows. The hate factor is only compounded by the fact that the windows are waifer thin and flush mounted from the exterior.
  20. A stately beast from an underrated, bygone era. Very nicely done!
  21. Very crisply detailed. Really great representation of a classy design. I agree with others above, that color is perfect for the car.

    58 Edsel

Beautifully built Edsel. Perfect color choice too.
  23. Very nicely done.
