  1. David, after so many years this model was made, I'm not sure which kit T-bird was. I think though, that I used all parts but the body in this Ford Galaxie, also the 27 decals. McDonalds? Jimmy Spencer? But as said, not quite sure. The chassis for De Tomaso is taken and made shorter from 90's Chevy Impala police kit, interior tub too but it's mostly scratch. I often mix parts and make my own. Wheels from a Mopar etc. Rear axle from E-type Jag. >Ismo<
  2. Thanks David, if you have the time and interest, you can find the building topic from this Finnish Car Modelling Association site by clicking this link http://www.fcma.fi/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10168 Lots of discussion in finnish but some good photos too. Please, have a look. In the photo above you can see some original red T-bird plastic behind the rear wheel. >Ismo<
  3. Thanks everybody! Today's task was to make the bumpers. I took the earlier shown bumper frame off, it was too thick. Now there is only those narrow one piece bumpers instead, made of parts trees. Also the thin window posts are glued, but them being so thin I'm sure they will brake and dissappear many times while messing around.
  4. Thanks Brizio! I've seen one too, only once and immideatly had to start building a model of that. It happened several years ago. Now I will try to make this model a bit better. I got the front end done (under the bumper which doesn't exist yet) and the rear bumper is getting there. The bumper corners are too roundish, but they will be fixed. The exhaust tips are there too.
  5. A bit better I think. Still have to modify the rear section of the side behind the rear wheel and in front too. They are too bulky as was the side skirt before I cut it off and made this new version. It curves more beneath of the body. The whole car looked too heavy. I think those special order bumpers that the Finnish owned Longchamp had will come off too and I put more narrow ones instead. We'll see if that happens later.
  6. Some progress here, base coat to show where to fix even more. And then I cut half of the side away. Same thing will happen to the drivers side later.
  7. Yes everything else but the ring of the steering wheel is scratch built. De Tomaso used many parts from Ford when making Longchamps.
  8. I built this De Tomaso some years ago using the body of a Nascar Thunderbird as a start. There was a real Longchamp in Finland at that time and it inspired me to build this model. The model is mostly scratch built, and time (and me) has done some damage to it. The paint has lost it's gloss (didn't shine much when new either, now sanded) , there are cracks and some parts have come off. The windows don't fit too well and that kind of stuff. The hood has lost the right shape also (almost fixed now). I'm taking it to parts, and try to fix these problems to get it look better. Then my De Tomaso Longchamp can take it's place in the front row on my shell again.
  9. Very cool looking "Escape Van" you have there. The interior looks very functional. If I may give some suggestion, the side and rear doors should have some kind of handle to help getting them closed from the inside of your Van. Also big rear view door mirrors wouldn't hurt the looks of this OffRoad Beast. But it's your build and a very fine one.
  10. Go Wherever! This Toyota Hilux is Aoshima 1:24. It's got a lot of self made parts (Eveegreen plastic and bits of parts trees). The camper, all tubing, coilover suspension, tow bar and some of the frame are all self made. V8 is from parts box, the dash is Nascar part. The license plate KES-15 reads as summer vacation in short in finnish language, as Kesis.
  11. Thanks Atin and Alex! The basic campers and caravans are indeed white, but for example my 1:1 T@b 320 caravan is metallic gray. So that in mind I decided to give some wheel silver paint to this camper. Maybe some stripes or graffic wouldn't hurt, as Alex suggested. All we need is the camper's windows, and the extra lights are missing the lenses still. The tail lights too, and it's good to go Under Glass. Edit. This Hilux Camper is now Under Glass with new photos. Thanks!
  12. Now my Toyota has brush painted body and Molotow chrome for the tubes. Now I wonder, if the camper should have some colour too. Maybe aluminium light silver?
  13. Even more tubes in the front and a new roll cage in the cabin.
  14. Okay Mattias, sounds like something to go for. And then ofcourse you should make a model of your 1:1 Datsun camper. My project got the exhaust, side rails, tow bar, dash, seats and some minor extras too. The step bar in the back is moveable/ tilts, so it doesn't hit any rocks while offroading.
  15. Yeah we need two of them, one for you and one for me. Today I put the frames to the windows and found the grill and bumper that were lost. Some extra lights will be added for night time travelling.
  16. Hello! This time I will build something for a man/ woman who wants to travel in his/ her own way. Under the hood a V8 gives the power, the 4wd gives the grip. Scratch built frame, suspension and the camper.
  17. Thanks everybody! The twin supercharger setup is all made by me by cutting and gluing and shaping. There's 18 pieces per charger plus tubing etc. I started building this Olds many months ago, but it stalled. Now it just needed interior finishing and painting the body.
  18. Thanks! I forgot to mention, that I opened the front grill and made some changes to the spoiler too.
  19. This time no body changes, but the engine got a pair of scratch built blowers and a new exhaust system. Tamiya dark gray metal paint and clear coat. The wheels and tires from parts box, as the brakes too. Stock interior brush painted, the shifter is now more race style.
  20. Hello! Just a little teaser this time. Olds with twin blower set up. Scratch built parts. Not painted yet.
  21. Hey thanks everyone! I was a little worried about the hight of the roof when converted it to 4 door. But perhaps it turned out just ok with relatively small amount of work. No cutting the pillars and making them longer at all.
  22. Started as a 2 door kit (AMT 421SD) that I converted to 4 door sedan. The story can be seen Under construction - section.
  23. and now my Pontiac Catalina can go Under the Glass, as it's as ready as it ever will be. Problems with windows and difficult to get the body sit well on the chsssis. The main target is achived though, a 4 door big Pontiac taxi.
  24. Thanks Tom, that's a fine photo. I just found a photo of a finnish classic car magazine, that introduces 6 old taxis. It says Mercury Comet was one popular American vehicle used in taxi business in the '60ties in Finland. This is the cover of that issue
  25. Almost done. I've been fighting with the rear window and it's still missing. I got the taxometer installed on the dash, the mudflaps are there too. Two speakers at the back shelf. The extra beam lights are also done with the lense covers. Maybe some "Hella" text could be written on them? On those years the first letter on the license plate told, in which region of Finland a car is registered. The letter L puts this taxi to Lapland, the north part of my country. A and B to the capitol city Helsinki etc. Nowadays there is no meaning with those plates. The L-cars were considered to be less rusty, as no salt was used in Lapland to prevent the roads being slippery in the winter time. Oh those good old times.
