Thank you very much, Dann. This "holiday or weekend camper combo" is starting to get ready, so I'll put some new photos Under Glass.
-
Now the interior is painted and the engine is sitting under the hood. The suspension is also installed. The towing gear is done and I moved the axle further back under the camper.
-
Such a ambotious project you have going on, and it's looking very promising so far. Thumps up you can get every Cobra done. I will be following you project as many others do too.
-
You may got that right. I take my photos with my phone and the lense somewhat twists objects. The axle could be further back, like those U-Haul trailers you have in the USA. I think I measured it to be excact in the middle of the camper, but it looks in the photo too far in front. I'm not too happy about the whole suspension either. It may be changed somehow, if I get an idea. Dann you are too kind!

Thanks Dann I'm excited too. This Citroen combo is so fun to build. Today Citroen got same paint as the camper did. I will paint them as they were in good condition, but the paint can be matte. The body modifications and painting were made by the nuclear professor himself. Just because he could.

Hey Mike, I'm glad to here you like this build. Today I didnt't get much done, but the twin windshield frame and the dash. I added some green putty where needed.
-
Oh yeah thanks David, this is so fun project for me. This is the camping gear storage. Or there might be a wine cooler and an oven to bake crispy baguettes for breakfast. Anyway the rear area is now done, and I can focus putting the rest of the car together. I must say, this Revell kit has a lot of parts. One could imagine, that a Citroen 2CV is a very complicated vehicle.
-
Thanks again, Dann. I'm glad you like my scratch builds. I enjoy cutting and gluing self made pieces much more than ordering stuff elsewhere. Citroen was cut in half and glued back 12 mm shorter. The back seat doesn't fit there anymore, so something has to be done.

Thanks Dann!!! Today the camper got the roof installed and the second wheel is done also. I brushed Humbrol paint on it, and I want it to look used and sun burned(the camper I mean, not the wheel...) It should be straight and clean, but have a home made look on it. Like the owner has manufactured it himself after a 40 years of working period as a scientist in a french nuclear power plant. The towing Citroen lost her roof. I will try to make the body shorter, but it's quite tricky to figure out where to cut the chassis. This Revell kit has lots of parts, and the chassis is very detailed too. I don't want to delete any important parts.

What a great build. Many wonderful tips too, like the hood hinges. Never thought of that. And that interior head liner, so simple but so perfect.

Revell 1:24 Citroen 2CV Charleston. That's my new project, while my other piece of work (De Tomaso Longchamp) is waiting to be finished. This poor Citroen will suffer some major surgery and a light camper will follow it. Evergreen plastic rules!

1975 De Tomaso Longchamp (fixing things)

Thanks Dann for what you said, and Phil thanks for that great article. It tells the Longchamps' story quite well and the fact how rare these cars are. Worth of an effort to make a model of it, right? My project is nearly finished, it just needs some tiding to do and the door mirrors to be chromed. -
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE (Special Edition)
Reuhkapelti2 replied to Bills72sj's topic in Model Cars
Very good looking Challenger, both your model and the original one. One of the best I've seen. The only thing is missing is the rear view mirror on the driver side door? Oh and the other side too, right? Other than that, excellent job indeed.- 30 replies

Ok thanks for that photo, now it is cristal clear to me. Very cool detail on a vehicle, I think.
-
Okay you are getting on. Are you sure you want those A-pillars to be brownish too like the rest of the roof? Just a humble question...

Very good work and such a hot looking Porsche, both of them 1:1 and 1:24. Very tidy decals also you've made.

1975 De Tomaso Longchamp (fixing things)
Reuhkapelti2 replied to Reuhkapelti2's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Mike! Today I got the windshield and the rear window cut and placed. Not perfect, but those windows are the best ones I've done so far in my model car body conversions. No glue, just small bits of plastic to give support inside the window frame. I'm also trying to fix the front blincker problem with plastic pieces and some putty. Those corners were shaped quite wrong earlier, and now I'm struggling to get them somehow to look better. I should have done this before painting the body, but I thought they would do fine. Let's see how it goes. Got the Longchamp brochure today, that I bought from ebay. It presents the GTS version with the wheel opening flares etc. Oh what a car, I'd take one immediatly into my garage. Only 420 were made, all versions inclueded. -
I have never had much interest of show cars, but looking at your precise build I must admire your skills. Coming along nicely, keep up the good work and those sharp photos.

1975 De Tomaso Longchamp (fixing things)
Reuhkapelti2 replied to Reuhkapelti2's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Dann! Today I got the grill and the bumpers chromed and the little grills (louvers) installed and painted black. I needed to make the interior tub higher so it reaches to the side windows. Next thing to do is to fight with the new windows and make new front blinckers. -
1975 De Tomaso Longchamp (fixing things)
Reuhkapelti2 replied to Reuhkapelti2's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Woooah not the easiest nose job. I made the whole grill new, because the earlier one was a bit too narrow for this body. Total 15 pieces in one grill! The front fenders tend to go wider where they should be more straight, but that's something I can't fix anymore. Therefore the front blinckers will be slightly out of 1:1 shape. Maybe it's no big deal. -
Well that's as simple kit as it can be. You gonna build it box stock or make all kind of extras to it? My friend drives rally with Scoda Favorit (other cars too). What a cool litle racer.

1975 De Tomaso Longchamp (fixing things)
Reuhkapelti2 replied to Reuhkapelti2's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Today I mixed matte white, brown and a drop of yellow paint and got the interior change its colour from dark red wine to this light cream tone. The head lights are going to be four round ones instead of two big rectangle shape lences as earlier was. -

Reuhkapelti2 replied to Reuhkapelti2's topic in WIP: Model Cars
My "De Tomato" got some paint. First it was Tamiya red, but the tone was too orange, so I sprayed two coats of Motip red and now I think it's red enough. The interior has to be painted in different colour too. That red wine tone doesn't match at all with that bright red body. -

Found it, the T-bird kit that gave the body for this De Tomaso and the rest of it was used to build that Galaxie as vintage Nascar. -
I'm really waiting to see this 4 door sedan done and ready to be seen painted and finished. There's something special in 4 door models that has made me to do several this kind of conversions too. Some good, some less good but anyhow, good luck to you on this project. Looking very sharp this far.
