Pay attention to what you're doing. Hamilton had a bad pit stop lost all his lead and two position, he was watching the safety car with a train of cars going by, and lost his cool. To be perfectly honest, Alonso is what made Hamilton last year. Massa has a real good chance at World Champ, it is nice to see BMW up there though proving you don't need to win every race. You just need to be consistantly up in the points paying positions.

Practice. Painting a model is pretty much same concept. I am sure you will get a bunch of different answers, but here are mine I mostly use an airbrush even for small items. Regular brushes I have a good selection of quality natrual hair "art" house brushes from 3/4 inch to a #1 and a lot of good quality gold synthetic brushes down to 10/0. Tamiya spray paints are good. I also use Testors enamels, but they take a long time to cure, and some acrylics - but not particularly fond of acrylics. 600 is about as corse of sand paper I ever use. I do use a lot of standard and fine micro mesh down to 12000 grit. I like Testors Pro Red putty. Stay away from Squadron putties. Sometimes for radical filling I will use Milliput - white. Future floor wax brings depth and the high gloss. My tool box is a collection of 15 years of modeling. We don't expect you to go out and get everything tomorrow. Building and asking questions on techniques and tools is the "right" way. HTH -
I was right, just came down. Hamilton will get a 10 grid positon penalty for the race in Fance. I kind of figure that was what it was going to be. Hamiltion, "...I have no argument with the stewards." Kubica, "I stopped at the exit because the light was still red. Kimi stopped beside me, and then I heard the noise when Hamilton crashed into his car. I have to be grateful to Lewis (Hamilton) as he chose Kimi and not myself." Kimi, "There's not much I can say. My race was ruined by Hamilton's mistake. Obviously, anyone can make mistakes, as I did two weeks ago in Monaco, but it's one thing to make a mistake at two hundred (miles) per hour but another to hit a car stopped at a red light."

They need to do something. I would say that is out of the bounds of an "accident" and sure looks like stupidity followed by an intentional action, and then was a rotten sport about it afterwards. I think it will be a 10 grid position in the next race. I don't think they will assess any points, but he needs a stern warning of some sort. He did aim for the Ferrari of Kimi, but he looked so stunned after hitting him I doubt that he even knew what he was doing. I am sure, however, that was the last thing he wanted at this track, to get jumped by a Ferrari in the pits.

Wow, what a race, and a Historic win for BMW. BMW 1 and 2. A first for them. BMW's Kubica wins, a first for BMW, Kubica and a Polish driver. DC gets a Podium finish in 3rd. Massa splits the 4th and 6th place Toyotas with a 5th, keeping his World Championship drive alive. He made a brilliant pass in the hairpin that brought the crowd and team to their feet. If it wasn't for the pit debacle he (Massa) would have been on the podium with BMW. A real stupid move by the Wonder Boy Hamilton puts himself and Kimi out of the race. I am sure a penalty is in the pipe for Hamilton who rammed into the back of Kimi who was stopped at the red light at the end of pit lane. He then had a little tantrum with a camera man and blew off Kimi's comment, "Didn't you see the light," complete. Hamilton deserves a penalty next race. How severe it will be... Time will tell. But what a stupid stupid stupid move by Hamilton, who might have had this race in the bank. Clearly not a world champion driver, yet. On a side note, it hasn't been a good weekend for the Hamilton's, His father, Anthony, wrecked a borrowed Porsche Carrera GT over the week, too. So no points for Mclaren Mercedes, but Massa salvages some for Ferrari. This race changes everything. Drivers Championship 1. Kubica 42 pts 2. Hamilton 38 pts 3. Massa 38 pts 4. Raikkonen 35 pts 5. Hiedfeld 28 pts Constructors Championship 1. Ferrari 73 pts 2. BMW 70 pts 3. Mclaren 53 pts

Need ideas for a nice home-built spray booth
CAL replied to abedooley's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Here is mine. I thought about doing a down draft but for simplicity built it as an updraft, with a venturi design. IIRC I am just using an 350CFM fan and it pulls just fine. A huge difference is notice without running the fan, which I mistakenly done once. So I know it works. I couldn't find one I really liked so I built it, all the electrical, compressor, fan wiring, and venting is in the top. It is all self contained with the air plumbed right in the booth. "DAYLIGHT" bulbs and storage under. I been very happy with it, and don't think I would change a whole lot of anything. -
That's what happens when you give morons more power than they can handle and do stupid things with it.

My tv schedule is showing 960 mins 16 hours of coverage. About the same as last year, and TNN or another channel picked up most of the rest. -
That is one of the funniest response I have heard yet.

I agree, a bench is fluid and it doesn't hurt anyone to start a new thread on the topic now and again. mine is actually blue, but they are self-healing mats and are made for cutting on. I found it particularly nice for PE. And in my case I have a real nice bench top so it was protection. It is now covered with a piece of homosote, so, in any event, they are not much money. I feel it was a worthwhile investment. Yup, a lot of those plastic "shoeboxes" have figure kits in them. A couple of spare parts boxes, abortions, and WIPs, and a couple of boxes of spare PE, and resin bits. I like to have a primary kit in progress, a couple of long term and involved ones going and a few others to tinker with. So I have a 5 or 6 or so on the bench and a dozen or so that have been started and reboxed for a later date. But I have a pretty good inventory of unbuilt unstarted kits as well. there is more but that is all the pix I have handy at the moment. My other modeling subjects and mediums is 3D CGIs.

Provisional grid for the 2008
CAL replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was a large number of cars registered for the race. 88 cars for 55 places. 21 of the 27 who automatically are invited confirmed. The other have not for various reasons. Penske was invited and declined to focus on their ALMS title chase. The Maserati MC12s first and second in the FIA GT1 Championship do not comply with the ACO regulations. 1st in LM P2 in the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours (Lola B05/40-Zytek). Bill Binnie, the team owner, has been obliged to withdraw for personal reasons. 1st in LM GT1 in the 2007 Le Mans Series with a Saleen S7R the team, which has since been renamed Oreca-Courage, has announced that it will change categories, and will send in an entry form in the LM P1 category. -

Risi killed one of their cars already. The official 24 Hueres du Mans web site. I am not seeing Penske or any of the Accuras on the current entry list. -

Didn't see any times posted for them. There are some RS Spyders, and I am pretty sure I saw them on the entry list. -
I designed and built it myself, it probably cost $200 to build. Thanks it's many years of collecting, upgrading, and expanding. There are still some things I would like to have: a small machine shop including a mill and lathe, a vacuum and chamber for resin, and a separate dark room for PE, which I have done in the bathroom. It is just a pain to set it everything up temporarily. So my resin casting and PE is on a limited scale. I recently picked up a Mattel Vac u form, which is a cool little machine. But it all pretty much overkill for the few models I produce nowdays. You don't have to spend a ton of money on a compressor, I just have a little tankless compressor in the booth overhead, which is plenty. And it is out of the way.
