Found something I didn't know they made.
CAL replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Typically, due to the nature of there design a DHOC tend (the I valves and E valves oppossed), not always, but tend to be hemispherical (or semi-hemispherical) in nature. Often called “Kidney Beans.†Correct it doesn't have anything to do with plug placement; however, most of the time they are centered somewhere near the middle of the "dome." It is not a new concept, It's been around for a over 100 years. And it was Ford who is considered to have the American V8 Hemi with their AM Ardun Flathead head. It was just Chrysler who trademarked the name Hemi. The huge down side to the Hemi for racing is it does have a limited mechanical compression ratio (12:1) compared to other designs (like a Heart Shape which easily can go above 15:1 natrually asperated). It is why they need to be compressor (Turbo or Supercharged) motors to get the full benifit from them. Incidentally, the “new†modern Hemi, isn’t really a hemi but more of a Polyspherical or semi-hemi also called a Pinched hemi. Porsche was probably the most prolific in using the Hemi head, though 1963-1999 in their 911 Boxer engine. -
Boy that sure is an ugly trud...

almost done with the motor. Added plug wires, scratch built coil, intercooler piping, oil filler, belts, added AC lines, and an oil line.

Looks good. Ha! Compared to the AMT kit? The AMT Kit has a number of serious issues, and I can tell just from the pictures here there is miles of seperation between the two.
-
It may have used some Vdub parts but it did start life as a Marathon delivery van; however, it did not originally roll off the assembly line as a Scriocco.

It is in the B&S museum in Millwaukee.

most DOHC are hemis, but most Hemis are not DOHCs. -
Let me see what I can come up with.

Hey now we need some "Those ###### Lizards" shirts lol That's funny.
-
yeah I pretty much adopting it. ###### Lizards.

Cable Program not included networks. Sponge Bob Square Pants was a close second, third, forth and fifth ... That oughta tell ya something. They still get more viewers world wide for the 24 hours of Le Mans than a whole season of NASCAR. Sorry I still don't get it, NASCAR.

Me too. ###### Lizards

The Briggs and Straton Hybird? It wasn't anything close to a Scirocco. It was a Marathon C-360 delevery van.
-
Trying to be cleaver and change the color Ummm lets see now could it be a '76?
-
I thought it might of been a Scirocco. Yeah wierd is right. They took Dr Porsche's Lohner-Porsche 100 year-old concept and modernized it into a $300,000.00 Briggs and Stratton Hybird concept car.

I am thinking German, maybe first gen Rabbit/Golf, maybe a Scrocco or Cab. I can't think of anything else that square where the tail light is amber and dosen't wrap around corner... but the it's real dark on my screen can't see much of the pic.

Yeah, looks awesome. I just want to get started on one myself. Sometimes there is intrest without comments.

What To Do, What To Do.......
CAL replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd jump off a bridge, but there aren't any high enough around here. I just keep a few for spare parts, but otherwise toss em. The aircraft ones with real nice art work I keep, but flatten them out. -
Well did ya hear the guy yesterday say "Mazdar"? Whats up with that.

I guess it depends on how you say it... americanese Austin British English asstin

2007 they campained 9 DBR9s at Du Mans 2006 they campained a full season of Petit Le Mans AMLS DBR9s 2005 DBR9 and a 550 at Du Mans The also did all the specs for BMS Scuderia Ferrari 550 and 575s for FIA GT and GTS wants to compete in F1 and have anounced a 200 acre $300M motorsport facility to house their future F1 program called The Fulcrum. I think they may have back out of that deal though; they were supposed to be an F1 participant this year. 2005 involvement in a V8 Supercar Ford team, and owns 51% of Ford Performance Vehicles and 49% of FPV Australia trough another buyout of GSR. They also do or did WRC Subarus and is where they got their start. Their first car as a 1997 WRC Impreza. They own a slue of motorsport companies. Tickford Glenn Seton Racing Managed the former BAR F1 Team Prodrive USA Prodrive Thailand Prodrive Austrialia Prodrive China They kind of know what they are doing.

Isn't that the truth... Lacquer "crazing" is actually "Lacquer Checking" and is most commonly caused by a bad base or primer, second common cause is radical climate changes over time. Enamels are somewhat difficult to work with because of there long gas out and drying times; however, I still get better finishes from Enamels than Acrylics. I aslo seem to have a lot more post work (sanding and polishing) acrylics than enamels. There are enamel work arounds, too, like dryers. Again if you are just starting out and want to keep it inexpensive and easy the Tamiya system is a pretty good system. A polishing kit does go a long way. Micro mesh and a some Novus and the old standards rubbing and polishing compounds. It is a lot more labor intensive than a good finish to start with, but you can correct a lot of paint problems this way. FWIW the Cobra below is Tamiya spray (primer and color) with several coats of Future airbrushed over that.

Spray paint as in spray cans. Yes. It is different, the concept is the same, but with an airbrush you have a lot more control over how much paint is layed down. Spray cans tend to be to heavy (in terms of volume of paint); however, Tamiya sprays work out pretty well if you are not going to invest in an airbrush, compressor, and booth right away. If you don't want to make a big investment right away I would recommend Tamiya sprays. There are several good airbrushes. I used a Badger 200 and 150 for the last 15 years, but have switched to an Iwata, which IMHO is a better brush. How you paint and lay down color depends on lots of factors: type of paint, color and primer(color), tanslucents, metalics and or solid colors. Future floor wax over coat gives you that smooth glass like look without a lot of work. This can be applied a number of different ways including dipping the whole part in Future, brushing, or airbrushing. However, the best results come from airbrushing. You just need to kind of jump in and decide how much investment you want to make and what colors you want to use for more specific direction.

Only if there is a factory car Prodrive is a English constructor, and is really the only ones with success in a Ferrari other than the factory. I don't think Prodrive will have a Ferrari entry this year. They have a P2 car and been campaining Austins and Fords of late.
