we may be saying goodbye to Mercury
CAL replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah, the writing was on the wall when 6 months ago the last stand-alone Mercury dealer closed. Chrysler is figure out the same thing and was said to axe 50% of their model line-up acrossed the board in the next 12 months. -
Briscoe made a rookie mistake, but he isn't no rookie. He is denying any and all responsibility for the incident saying, "our cars have brakes, and there was plenty of room to get around me."
-
It does slow a bit. More limited to the evening hours. Spending all day in the hobby room almost never happens during the summer, too much other activity going on. Like you we have a house with a lot of unfinished projects going on, but I still try to get a least a few hours in a week.

It was indeed the Pontiac equivalent of a Chevette.
-
Yup, one of several historic races this weekend. Indy 500 Monaco F1 24 hrs of Nurburgring Rolex at Limerock

Driver of the day, though, was Adrian Sutil: new car, started 18th and finds himself in 4th racing the Ferraris of Massa and Kimi and gets taken out by him (Kimi) in the closing laps. They sould have let Danica rip his head off, he completely deserved it. Milka, looks good but can't drive as well as Danica, she put herself out of the race. She might of had some help, but in the end it was brain failure that put herself out. If she just would have, released the brakes, collected the car back up she wouldn’t have spun, punctured the tire and got stuck in the grass. Sarah Fisher made her own bed to sleep in.

I feel for her. She got clobbered by some moron coming out of the pits.

It was a good race. It's MONACO! Look at first like Massa was going to run away with it but that all changed.

awesome ###### lizard.

tough break for Massa, for what I think is his World Champion year. Who knows what happened to Kimi. Good job Kubica, it was a nail biter of a race, but Hamilton came out on top, even after clipping the wall early on. Lots of action as always at Monaco, especailly in the rain. It's still a three horse race between Ferrari, Mclaren, and BMW and their drivers. Although Heikki Kovalainen is probably out of the runing, trailing 19 points behind 3rd place Massa. Monoco results 1. Hamilton 2. Kubica 3. Massa Driver World Championship 1. Hamilton 38 2. Raikkonen 35 3. Massa 34 Constructors Championship 1. Ferrari 69 2. Mclaren 53 3. BMW 52

Porsche Porsche BMW Well, good job BMW you made the podium.
-
I was watching live timing from the website. I wonder what it would be like to see it as a spectator. I see BMW is edging up there. Who else is up for the Monaco GP?
-
Well that is not exactly true. He is trying for a night race so it would be televised live at a reasonable hour in Europe. Furthermore, at 76, he said it's not about the money anymore. How much does one need? He already surpased the Queen in wealth. 1996 he was making 1 million dollars a week. Not that I agree with his tactics and politics.

are you amusing yourself Any ###### lizards to contend with?
-
No, it's not a ###### Lizard. You can always play.

Just my imagination, or are there more "old" Beetles
CAL replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Haven't noticed it either, but they made 21,529,464 of the darn things. I am sure at least some of them are still running around. -
Well you could be right about the T-1000, it is a Toyotie, but I don't think that is one.
-
It's actually Mazda B series that is a Ford Ranger.
-
Well the dark convertable ... looks like the Bentley wings of a Bentley S series convertable.
-
Czech Republic is a little Spanish.

You are welcome, and thank you That is how we all learn. In any event, it was the daughter of Emil Jellinek who had Daimler DMG* build him a special lightweight car for the Nice-Magagnon-Nice rally, without a name Emil enter the car under is daughter's name Mercedes (Spanish for Grace). The car won and the name stuck. However it wasn't until several years later when Benz merged with Daimler that Mercedes-Benz was born. The interesting part is Mercedes had no real connection with Benz originally and were fearsome competitors on the racetrack. *Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschat

I did, you were close and I am impressed. Many think it was Karl's name, and it's an obscure triva fact.
-
Bernie Ecclestone wants a US GP, but probably not at Indy. Bernie wanted what amounted to several million in improvments to the track at Indy and Tony George told him to pound sand. There has also been interest in Vegas.
-
Wrong. It was a daughter, but not one of Benz's or his designers.
