    993 AD CAR

I know it's been a while but I have been working on it.
  2. looks like an modified "G" body.
  3. Looks good, and I would like to have one, and a Peugeot and a EXP Speed 8, which was probably the prettiest car that ever graced Le Mans, but at $200 a pop I don't even bother looking any more.
  4. that is weird must be how you have it set up.
  5. My Diasio D962R lasted 26 days before Nick cracked and I gave it up.
  6. I kind of agree. On ebay, when I do find a kit I want I figure out this is the MAX i will spend on it. X Dollars on Y kit. Usually retail or less. If I am out bid or snipped oh well. However, there was a time where it seemed like I was being snipped or out bid buy the same guy over and over and over again and was starting to crack. It was a little strange; too, the guy had won like 900 auctions in the last 6 months. That must be all he does is sit on Ebay all day long. I don't even bother on anything where I see his name as a bidder. I just pass. Needless to say, but I will any way. Is those extra 5, 10 or 15 minutes would not have made a difference. Except once, where it was just a computer freeze with 4 seconds to go and I missed out when my bid didn't go through in time. In the end, I feel I won because he ended up spending $50.00 + shipping on the same kit that I ended up with for $8.50 just a few weeks later. Only once did I go above my originally set top price, but I still feel I got a a great deal on a Mattle Vac U Form for $70.00. A lot of them were, have and are going for a lot more than that. Otherwise, I haven't felt like I have, or feel bad about missing out on a auction. Eventually it seems that everything I have been looking for has come around for a fair or better price. It just might take some time. The only thing I have never ever seen anywhere and have been looking for is a Monogram Diablo VT. Otherwise, eventually I have been able to snag virtually everything I was really looking for at an reasonable price. I also found a lot of steels at times that I snag up too. I have got a number of kits under 10 bucks (many well under $15 with shipping), good kits, which you can't even go to the LHS and get them for that kind of money. Most of them were OOP and or discontinued to boot. So I do not see a huge benefit for this. I would also have to say, I feel I was only screwed once on Ebay. The item wasn't described well and it ended up being a collection of JUNK with an outrageous ship and handling fee attached for what was supposed to be 6 complete but 4 of them started kits, but ended up with 1 new untouched kit and the remnants of 5 other piles of junk. It took me two weeks just to go through all the parts that were all crammed into one box. 3 of those were missing parts and 1 damaged beyond repair. 1 was, I supposed rebuildable, but wasn’t worth the trouble – as it wasn’t any good new.
  7. Well for what it is worth it was powered by Merc or perhaps a Porsche engine. 1990 Isdera Imperator I thought it might had been a Isdera they have used that periscope mirror on a couple other of their cars like the Commendatore.
  8. It's not a C-111 It has a very Pininfarina look to it.
  9. It was in the same vain. Yeah, but is he entertaining? I hope it is good, but I fear it's not.
  10. I concur, that the AMT kit ins't a good one to start with. At least that is what I remember of it from a great many years ago. I do know about the Revell kit but I suspect it is far superior.
  11. We all know how the Hindenburg ended in disaster.
  12. I have been thinking about this for a few days now and I have come to this conclusion. The show, Fifth Gear, is like to be a total failure. Not withstanding, the copy is never as good as the original. The title alone is troublesome, why fifth gear? What about all the three, four, and six speed cars? In any event, I have heard this Adam, and I must say nowhere near as charismatic as Jeremy, not that he is overly charismatic himself. However the English do have a way with words. I don’t know these other blokes from Adam, but there is a certain dynamic that really works well on Top Gear, the pattern for Fifth Gear. That is the nice thing about Top Gear is you don’t need to be a racing car driver (Cpt. Slow). Need I say more? They would probably better off with just some regular guy, or girl for that matter, that no one knows or has heard of with a passion for cars, which is all you really need. Moreover, they (TG) have it absolutely right. It isn’t about the car, how fast, how good, how technically advanced it is. It is about how it makes you feel when you are driving it, and then being able to pour that out onto the screen. Not to mention it already has had a troubled start. The pilot was supposed be shown in March, and it is now June and not a single frame has been shot. I know NBC said that they wouldn’t censor the honest opinions of the host, but I just don’t see that happening on Network TV. I suspect that Network TV is just to stiff and structured to pull off a good Top Gear (TG) clone, which isn’t that polished. However, that is the beauty of TG like all good British TV it is a little rough around the edges, but that is what gives it’s immense charm. Then there is the show itself, which I can see it being hampered by all kind of other technicalities, safety issues (which apparently are virtually nonexistent in the UK) and practicalities. And whom are they going to be bashing! In an overly pretentious PC social climate I am not sure that they will even be allowed to bash themselves or each other – another quality of the show that works very well. I do hope I am wrong – I think in a lot of ways Supercars Exposed was trying to live in the shadows of Top Gear, but it was dreadfully boring by and large. I, too, will give it a chance, but that is my prediction. I would have loved to been a fly on the wall when Clarkson and the NBC guys were discussing the development. Top Gear is extremely entertaining for far to many reasons to list here and now, so Fifth Gear has a very high benchmark, which may be unreachable by Network TV. Will it have the charismatic magic of TG, or will their diamond turn to dust? I wonder how many times that they (NBC excs) said, "Oh no, We can't do that."?
  13. Somehow it reminds me of Dr. Ludwig Dürr's Deutsche Luftschiff Zeppelin #129 - das Hindenburg.
  14. Being on a TAFC team in the early 90's I have been to a lot of these events and seen some bad crashes with a few drivers who were killed - largely by fire, but honestly I have never seen anything quite like this one. It is the worst one I have seen. It is just astonishing. A lot of stuff had gone terribly wrong there, and it was the perfect storm - they say the car landed almost off the track property. You will be sorely missed Scott Kalitta.
  15. Hey that is a pretty nice Tiger kit. I have the mid and early production kits... However, have you seen the new DML Tiger? Phenomenal.
  16. That is terrible news. He was a well liked driver by all. My god man, just seen the video, literally exploded in a big mushroom cloud at the end of the track. Unbelievable.
  17. sorry to say the 1970 Shadow AVS Mark 1 Chevrolet didn't win a Can Am championship any years.
  18. they pop up on ebay everyone once in a while from reasonable money.
  19. The AVS didn't win a championship though.
  20. Top Gear has already done Car Hockey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddKWLjAyYVo...feature=related
  21. Then it has to be a Shadow DN4A which is the only other car barring the Lola T70 to have won one year. And it only won because the competition was banned, mainly Porsche 917/30KL which IIRC won every race the year before.
  22. No! it IS a go kart with a SBC in it. Otherwise known as black death on wheels. Looks dangerous.
  23. Exactly right on the ###### Lizards! Yeah, but they say it wasn't a very good car to drive, and really wasn't fixed to the F50 came out. Everyone shoud drive a Porsche 997 Turbo Especailly in LA and other metro areas. They say it is so efficiant that what comes out the tailpipe in these polluted cities is actaully cleaner than the air going in. So see, it's really a green car, too. Nevertheless, I have a growing fondness for the Ferraris, they do build some nice looking cars that are just amazing now days. The last Ferrari I was in still had rope for interior door handles, thinly padded plastic seats and couldn't hear yourself think. It was pretty much ######. I am quite partial, however, to the 550, well both actually Porsche's and Ferrari's 550. I know the 575 is supposed to be a bit better, and looks almost the same, but I still like the 550 better. And some of Ferraris earlier cars are just so ###### sexy. Nothing in the world looks or sounds like a P330
  24. Yeah, I don't know about that. Yes it has changed and become commerical, big dollars, lots on the line, and very competitive, but did you ever hear any of the drives at Le Mans say that they would rather be doing anything else. I can promise if it wasn't fun it wouldn't be Le Mans, hard work, long hours, yes, but ... well I guess the cultured shocked University team from China wasn't having such a good time... besides have pooh for a car and being homesick they didn't speak any French or much English, but other than that everyone was have a more or less good, except maybe Team Flying Lizards, time and wouldn't trade the experience for anything. But even the Chinese didn't complain that we heard of, okay they didn't speak any English... and had a pooh car. However, long gone are the days of the 962 that dominated everything for a decade. So that's a bummer. Porsche needs a "new" 962! But I am digressing now.
  25. that's just annoying... two laps in that thing I'd get out and have to kill someone.
