Better is all relative to model kits. Tamiya kits are generally engineered much better, but there isn't a Tamiya kit that exists in the same scale with anywhere close to the part counts of some of the EMS kits. The Johan kits has nowhere near the fit and finish or the fine detail as the EMS kits. As much as I love the Johan MB 500s, I got a whole stack of the Special Roadster and a hand full of Limos, there is a lot to be desired. There are many fall downs, inaccuracies, and pit falls with those kits. I still like trying to build them though.

I got all kinds of half started abortions laying around. I am afraid to even count them up but I am sure it's double what's been finished. I actually haven't worked on anything in a year. I have gone months without even opening the door to the hobby room. I have been busy with 1:1 cars, my Porsche, RC helicopters, building a resin casting station, just got a new Photo Etching set up, giving that a try again, was building stick & tissue planes for a while. Plus a jillion other things going on. I always say I am not going to start something new until I finish at least on started kit up and well that hasn't gone well... at all. I either don't get anything done or end up starting something new anyway.

I think its going to be 10 11 maybe 12 laps for audi +2 for Toyota. Of course that's what the manufactures are hoping for with a Hybrid on top when it's all said and done. Audi also admitedly has pit box space issues with four cars. They all don't fit and are a little cramped up Rain could change that. They say the E-tron is not as good in the rain as the Ultra, and from Q3 it looked like the Audis struggled a little in cooler damper conditions (while it was not raining it was cool with high humidity with a high due point so the track surface was cool and damp). In other news. Audi is loosing some of it's drivers to the Porsche LMP1 program and there is a new mid engine 911 GT car in the works which is going to be Porsche's new top of the line super car above the 911. Honda also expressed serious interest in coming to Le Mans with an LMP1 car. 2014 is shaping up to be a banger year with maybe as many as 5 manufacturers in LMP1. -

+1 maybe for you. There is a good chance of rain which tosses everything out the window. The Toyos have a 2+ lap fuel advantage. Peugeot only had 1 lap and they didn't always take it.... it was a 13 second margine at the end of 24. And the other classes are very competitive. The Toyotas have had historically bad reliablity, but Audi also expressed concerns about their own reliablity. These are basically new cars for this year, not last years cars at all. And it's the first time since the TDI have shown up that a Gasoline powered car has even come close to Audis pace. It could be an Audi blowout but I wouldn't bet money on that. -

Yeah, kind of sucks no Peugeot Audi mega battle, but Toyota has been running respectable times. #8 Toyota however caught fire in Free Practice. Q1 is tonight in France, later this afternoon today. Now, Audi has expressed some concerns about reliablity of there R18s and are running new technology on 2 of their 4 cars so there is a bit of a unknown in the Audi camp. Also there is a chance of rain both Sat and Sun, which may change everything. In dry running the E-Quattro is very strong but they say it may have trouble in the rain vs. the Ultras and Toyotas. Hard to say what is going to happen. If we knew we wouldn't have to run the race at all. LMP2 and the GT classes are very very close and might prove to have the closest racing. -
Bench Rage! Have you ever lost it?

x3, she has threatened but hasn't even actually gone through with it. If she ever did, I'd be all done. Otherwise, no bench rage here. I just walk away and do something else. -

Best opening scene from a movie ever!
CAL replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is the entire film. On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a a professional Formula 1 racer drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris, France. The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets. Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. -
Anyone here play guitar?
CAL replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, but that was about 500 years ago.... Had a 65 LP Sunburst mostly all jacked up, had the wrong nut... made the action too high and ###### buzzing humbukers - they were good, just not installed correctly. Never really liked the muddiness of a LP, but there was never anything else I got along with either. I broke a finger in 1988 and that was pretty much the end of that. -
yeah, they are kind of morons over at HL. When you are in Denver, Colpar Hobbies, is one of the best hobby stores in the country.

I don't think open wheel has anything to do with it. There has not been a death in Formula 1 since Ratzenberger and Aryton Senna during the 1994 San Marino GP weekend, and before that you'd have go all the way back to 1986 when Elio de Angelis was killed during a test session. Indy car, you only have to go back to 2006. It is still sad to hear when ever a driver loses his life.

Yeah, they said that they didn't prove anything only suggested that it's possible and that it would take years to prove one way or another. IIRC there is an annotation on E=MC2 that could potentially make it invalid, but that would require some special set of circumstances not yet known to us.

I am sure his wife wasn't happy that he used a large amount of the house's HAVAC and plumbing to build it. LOL I like all the people standing around looking at it... clearly they don't know just what to make of it. -
