  1. LH was DQed for him and Mclaren giving misleading information to stewards during the initial investigation. Radio transmissions make it clear that LH was following team ordered to let Trulli by. Trulli was promoted back to 3rd.
  2. Here is a link to it. http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/2000...0-06-18-003.jpg
  3. I agree. Scratch building is taking some basic materials and making something from more or less nothing. I.E. a plastic tube is just a plastic tube, however, with some rod, and strips, and some creativity it can be a starter assembly. Kit bashing is taking existing kit parts and adding or rearranging them in another order.
  4. No he didn't It's a perfectly fine circus.
  5. I was considering the 905, Bentely Blower, and the ultimate sports car in history 956/962.
  6. never any 16 cyl. It was always a flat 12, basically it was two 911 flat six engines put together. 1970 car had the 4.5l version. BTW it's the 40th Anniversary of the legendary 917
  7. I have it narrowed down to one of these.
  8. They are kind of stupid looking.
  9. Not quite as impressive sounding. You could really hear a difference last night during practice.
  10. Its an old car on the sale block.
  11. Some teams didn't ask. They just read the rule book. Some teams help develope the rules and were involved. LH I think is going to start pretty far back. The Ferraris might even be midfield.
  12. Donno but they are just sticking out there begging to get knocked off. The Brawn car has two things going for: Much further development than any one else. They started this car last year. The other thing is the controversial rear diffuser which has a lot more volume to it than anyone else. Two other teams with possibly illegal diffuser also very fast out of the box. It is interesting to note that the teams with the "Diffuser" cars didn't have any input or even attended the tech meetings where the new rules were hammered out. So clearly if they found a loop-hole in the rules and quite possibly in violation of the "Spirit of the rules". Ether everyone is going to start developing the diffuser or the will get banned. Either way it seems with the drastical rule changes things are off killter. Notwithstanding, the silver bullets have become silver slugs.
  13. Practice doesn't mean much, it's how qualifying shakes out that will tell more.
  14. All those bars held on the body with fiberglass strips.
  15. Well it's finally that time of year again to kick off the F1 season. Should prove interesting. The McLaren car is not up to speed and has been at the bottom of the time sheets for the last month and a half of testing, allowing LH to get out of his contract from a performance clause - if the car is not up to speed. LH announced last night he was entertaining discussions with any other team that might want to pick him up - including Ferrari. Kimi R. was pretty much told that if had another year like last it was going to be his last year in F1. So his seat is on the line opening up a seat. I don't know if I could stand to continue supporting Ferrari if LH steps in. No more Honda, it was sold to Braun Racing and is blindingly fast, but controversial - possibly having an loophole legal diffuser. Ferrari is in good form and is right where they want to be coming into the first race according to the team. They had good test sessions and were always around the top of the sheets. No real surpise there. Practice 1 is in about ten hours. I am not sure if it's going to be on, but Practic 2, Qualifying and the Race will all be live on speed.
  16. I was just there.... man awfully tempting, I just spent a $1000 on RC helis so I don't think it would go over well.
  17. There is a trans kit for it. Check Strada Sports.com http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page8.html
  18. Yeah, the Charger went 2 laps before melting a pistion. The Torino did 88
  19. There was a Torino that actually made it to LeMans, but DNFed, likewise the Camero, and the Dodge Charger. They had a NASCAR class for a year maybe two. There was even a Hemi Cuda that came but failed to qualify.
  20. The Cert sticker has the event, class, date, I will have to look at one again to tell you all the specifics. Yes, required on all the cars, I will try to get a date when this started. Must have been late 1980s early 90s they started standardizing the number more, but for a long time before that the number had to be on a white background.
  21. I think they will do a pretty good job on it. They, Trumpeter, had got so much heat from particularly the aircraft guys that the actually had to retool a couple kits so they'd sell. Now they have kind of learned their lesson on putting out less than resonably accurate kits. At least ones with gross errors.
  22. What about the ROHR car? Although it didn't run Le Mans. The glow in the dark STP car was kind of cool. I think the original Mobile scheme was pretty cool too. The test car was pretty cool too.
  23. That is what I thought at first. Burned down IIRC coming into Arnage, and another car stop and burned in the exact same location.
