  1. It's a Volkswagen. We have a few running around the neighborhood. Although it kind of doesn't quite seem like a Lamborghini with out the "lamborghini" doors.
  2. It's a maricle. I didn't think you could get more the 105bhp from one. I owned Audis when they were junk and never got over it. My 5000 was a horrible pig of a car, it was the first time I had seen an engine and transmission actually friction weld itself together at the clutch. There was nothing good about it. It didn't drive nice, it didn't go particularly well, it didn't have a good mant. record, it wasn't that nice inside, and sure wasn't anything to look at, and was miserable to work on. About the only thing worse to work on was BMW. Great fun to drive. BMW were 100% fun to drive 0% fun to work on. My sisters A4 isn't too bad, though, it's an A4 Sport factory lowered 5spd 1.8T. eats tires like no tomorrow though. What I want to see is a V8 twin turbo A4 (RS4). That would be a screeming machine. They have wedged a V8 in one but they say there is no room left for anything else. Plus they say nobody could afford the insurance on it.
  3. It was an RX8. I have some really good 787 sounds I just don't know how to get them somewhere so you can here them. Photobucket wont except the file. Nick can you get 500bhp from a 5cyl Audi without it breaking in half?
  4. There are just a few cars in the world that have such a unique and awesome sound. The Mazda 787B is one of them. Also noted as the loudest car ever to at race LeMans. They like to be charged... They prefer to be turbo-charged over supercharged but the turbos tend to cook the engines, which run a little on the hot side to begin with. Someone did a Mazdaspeed 8 prototype with a 3 rotor cosmo engine and turbos. 800+ bhp.
  5. And it is still the only Japanese manufacture to win overall.
  6. Like I said, if you are going to do it you might as well do it right, and total a brand new one. I am telling you, it was the car. It self-distructed.
  7. Complete and running would definately help. It does have some history. It's not a terribly strong history though. Maybe 40-50K if it was complete, original, running and had a stronger history, maybe it would bring that much. If it wasn't going to be a lot of trouble and money finding all the bits and restoring it someone would have by now. Buying it is one thing restoring would probably be another small fortune. Apparently the engine and moon tank is worth more to the guy selling than the rest of it. Seems odd to seperate and keep the motor and sell off the body it unless there is something wrong with the car - like it's not worth much would be my guess.
  8. Yeah, and it was a young one too. only 36 miles on it. I know, I kind of wished they run together. GO BRUMOS! You can do it.
  9. I wonder what the reserve is. It would be worth more as a unmolested Corvette. The only thing it does have going for it is a little bit of history. I don't think it will go a lot higher than what it is. I know that there is 2 days left and most of the action happens at the end, but it's only gone up $300 in 4 days and still hasn't met the reserve. I suspect the guy selling think it's worth a whole lot more than it really is worth. But I could be wrong.
  10. I didn't kill the engine. I killed the car. Go ya ###### lizards.
  11. I guess I kind have to agree. All my started but unfinished projects, probably 15-20 have been overly complicated, lacking tools, experience, or ability, or have gotten long in the tooth. I still try to push on every model, I just don't try and to it ALL on every kit I touch. Rather, try a little at a time. Eventually I will get to those mamoth projects.
  12. any number of things. Sometimes. Limited run stuff is distroyed by good faith or contract that there is X number of copies and that is it, "Here is the master cut in half to prove it." Some are sold to a new caster and they may cast what is there or try to improve it a little. (it happened a lot with aircraft masters and molds. Most of the resin casters are garage kit makers and don't have a lot of overhead or owe a lot to venders, so auctions, and sezing assets is very rare. I think most just say they are going OB because the effort put in is much larger than any income or revenue it generates. Furthermore, there is a whole lot of scabs that will make second rate copies and sell them for a less, screwing the guy how did the originals. It is very hard to protect yourself from these guys. The whole Figure industry nearly vanished becuase there were so many illegal copies being made and sold for a lot less. Anyway, the masters and mold that are sold, traded, or distroyed are probably in someones garage somewhere collecting dust.
  13. That is interesting.. That is what I want to know. Powder or paint?
  14. Yeah well, I am still battling away with the Starliner, or it's battling with me. I am not real sure any more. Making progress slowly, it's been a long time since a kit has been giving me this much trouble. Not so much the kit itself but a lot of things that just didn't go well, worked before and not now, survived a cat attack a number of little troublesome problems to many to list. I did get the chassis done, the motor done and installed .. . Back vacuum formed glass which ended up being a lot of trouble, and turned out so-so. I finally gave up on trying to BMF hose clamps on the firewall end of the heater hoses. They are molded together and there just isn't much room to wrap a BMF strip around them I got one done in about 10 tries and while doing the second it got knocked off. The rear bumper fits like ######. The grill pushed the fenders out, making a gap around the core support. It's like the body is shrinking I have the windshield, vacuum formed, and hopefully it wont be as much trouble, and some chrome bits to put on the body and I am calling it done. It came real close to getting mashed up... again... Quite franly, it's getting to the point where I don't want to see it on the bench any longer. I think I will be building a Ferrari next.
  15. Sometimes they get sold off and or change hands. Molds don't last a long time some most of them probably are tossed. It's the masters that the important part. You can always make a new mold from a master.
  16. It's expensive, and pearl is outragous but you can buy just plan metel flake and pearls at your local body paint supply. It's like $90-$150 for a little bottle of pearl tint but that would be a lifetime supply. Obvously metel flake is less expensive until you get into the micro flakes.
  17. Okay here is a hard one. Year make model/class and powerplant.
  18. Looks like a pair of 944 PCA club racers.
  19. Oh yeah that was another mercury prototype
  20. Not too bad, I had to clean up some dirt off it, glue a few bits back on and reclear it. It's okay now. I might finish today/tonight.
  21. The original Cougar 406
  22. Well I'll be dipped, weird and ugly grill too. EEEKKS Actaully Kia's aren't too bad, but that is hidious.
  23. Kia, it's not Kia. Opuris???? What the heck is that? They have an Optima, and it's not an Amanti.
  24. I think it's Chinese, Brilliance or something. They have about 50 car companies that make clones of everything. They have been and continue to be sued left and right for cloning everything from Jeep, down to the Jeep badges, to Mercedes, BMW, and Smart Cars. On top of that they are junk, and typically fail miserably in crash test, even the big Mercedes like sedans fail. And just think the wave of new Chinese junk is nearly upon us.
