For that matter I would like to see GTP cars again, but I guess everything has to progress. Sometimes it just not in the best direction. I am sure it will eventually get sorted out. Accura claims they are going to build a LMP1 car. I did hear a rumor that Porsche was also looking at a new LMP1 car, but I also heard from a more reliable source that Porsche wasn't going to that until there was more competition. They didn't want to race against Audi because that was essentially racing themselves. The second thing that would have to happen is they would have to do something about tightening up the gas vs. diesel cars. I am pretty sure Porsche wouldn't build a diesel LMP1 car. So if Accura gets an LMP1 online (and maybe one or two more P1 players) and the even the playing field you may see Porsche P1 car.

98 Porsche LMP? That would have been the GT1 911. It's like a baby 956/962 Correct, it's not a Porsche it's a Fabcar. It's should be donunts from here... you wont even need a fork.

Yup. DSC did it... and 3 360s over an 8in curb and all the wheels fell off, well okay 3 of 4 fell off... which led to other bits flying off. That was the good thing. It wasn't mine. It was someone elses. Hey poop occures. They got a new one. I don't have any pix but I am sure there is somewhere. No you should let me drive it. I will be sure to find any deficiencies in it. Hey, I have only killed a few cars. The RX8, 2003 Jetta GLS - actually I was at a dead stop and was hit by a crane truck. All the rest were over 15 years ago. a Honda CVCC, a Honda Civic wagon, broke an Accord in half... The others were just wounded and not completely killed, my 70 Nova... blew up the "3/4 Race" 327 78 Nova blew up the 305, fused an Audi 5000 engine to the transmission, pitched a T-belt off my Toyota Celica GT that was about it. Oh yeah, that 911 I just happened to be drive when it decied to go boom. And I have an excellent driving record, no accidents, no tickets on my DL.

I am not sure what they are going to do if they bring in FIA rules. Who is Audi going to race? Themselves. Then, like you said, there will be two useless classes. Rolex has been doing a real good job attracting new teams, car builders, manufactures (Engines) and growing their series. If they do go to FIA rules they need to attract some more P1 cars and GT1 cars somehow. Or it may just be a better series to drop P1 and GT1 altogether. I think it was better when there was GT1 GT2 GT3 and GTR. Isn't the Ford GTs runing GT1? I know they haven't been that competitive but... Well I wouldn't say they have dominated. Risi has had some bad luck. The starter problem earlier this year. They had some other down on their luck stories. Today was just a bone headed and desperate move by their driver. What was he thinking - "um yeah I'll just magically stick like glue here".

Heheheheh.... Oh come on it's not THAT hard.

Don't want a turbo. Most of the turbos that weren't wrapped around a tree or telephone pole have had the snot beat out of them. Plus they still bring a premium on the used market. The Turbo Looks and SC tend to have been a little better cared for and they are quite a bit less money. Plus like you said. I will just find me a or build the motor I want. With the turbo set up and FI, liter size ect. I mean there was a jillion different combinations of Porsche Flat sixes. That way I can just build the idea car over the best of two decades of developement and the most modern technology. See I already have a grand master plan! No. My 6 is just fine. The 8 didn't blow up, okay it may have looked like it when I got done with it, but I am telling you it self-distructed. And I already blew up a 911 so I already have that out of the way.

The LeMans race had gone exactly the way I feared. It was attrition that killed Porsche the odds were 2:1 that Ferrari would win from the start. It's didn't help that one mistake took out 2/3 of the Porsche field. Who's leading the points? Porsche 1 -2 The ###### Lizards seem to be slouching a little though, haven't they. The Audi guys were told to knock if off and if it were to go on any longer the team would put a stop to it. Yeah it's an awesome track. Turn 5 yeah baby. Probably one of the hardest corners... long straight and down hill into five a 90 degree left and up a pretty big hill into six, which depending on the car is a blind corner. Over ALMS? First the ALMS rules, I think, are a little more geared towards the fans, and closer racing, especally between P1 and P2. There is virtually no competition in GT2 so why bother? It also seems that team orders, blocking, defending aggresively and tactics that are a little more out of clean fun racing is far more prevailent in ALMS. It seems I see a lot more things in ALMS that make me say, "that was uncool" then in the Rolex series. Rolex seems to be a little better racing, closer finishes, closer championship. If they go a long time without a yellow it tends to be a runaway race for someone. So the Rolex series is just more interesting and tense to watch. Plus I perfer coupes (DPs) over the open P1s and P2s. However, Mazda is getting a Lola Coupe here soon.

No I have kind of settled on a 911. I have been looking for a Turbo Look car for awhile. Found a lot of fakes but no real ones. Some were pretty nice but just not the same thing. Found lots of Targas, but it has to be a coupe. I may just end up with a regular ole 911 or maybe a 911SC. The only reason I got look at this 944 was I knew what was all wrong with it and were I used to work took it in cheap on trade. At first they didn't want to sell it to me at all. Then they wanted $6500 on a car they just took in for $1200. censor-censor-censor-suckers. I'm over it now.

Thanks, I am kind of proud of myself in that respect. I been trying to stick with it even when it's not going to well. I already have way to many started but yet unfinished disasters hanging around. I don't need any more. Plus I found it's a little more motivational to finish one that's not quite perfect than shelve it when it comes to starting or working on the next one. Stalling on a kit and then shelving it seems to stall building in general. I am sure yours will look at least, probably better, than mine. -
Yeah good stuff, although I think the Rolex series is slightly better. Poor Risi, they just can't get it together. This will probably be the last year of those good P1/P2 battles as they are saying the are going to FIA rules next year and they won't be as evenly matched. There was a pretty good Audi team battle going as well.

And they say AMT Bashing is uncalled for... -
That is sweet... I am still mad that I could work something out on the 944 Turbo last year. DamnRatBastards. So I am still looking for a "fun" car hopefully a "Turbo Look" 911.

Did you catch ALMS from Road America today? It's my home track.
-
Fresh off the bench. Well I guess it's still on the bench, but it's done!

I would also say you are probably not using enough pressure. I wouldn't say I never paint that low, but only for special techniques and with really thin paint. The stringyness is some kind of paint issue, which I have experienced from time to time with MR Surfacers.

Gizmo, Nah. He lived. Thanks, it turned out OK. I tried a few things some worked some didn't. Had a few problems with the kit. It looked like they took the clear parts out of the mold too soon and all the head lamp lenses were oblonged, which made them tricky to get in. Something isn't quite right with the way the chassis/body alignment. The rear bumper fit the body fine, but when the whole thing was together the bumper didn't fit right. The mirrors gave me fits. I really need to get me one of those third arms it would have been handy. Plus I made plenty of my own mistakes. I think I rushed it a bit too much. I know the scripts should have been gold. And I even have some gold foil. I did pick up a few new trick though. The overall kit, was a 60 Starliner Custom, so I don't expect any grief about it not being custom was good. Here is a mini-review. Good detail, good attention to detail, I like the seperate frame, a very well detailed FE block, and looks good overall. The glass I vacuum formed from the kit parts and I don't think I have had better fitting clear parts, except for the noted headlamps. The bad: Let see what I can remember. 1. The rt side of the body was good and I could ask for more. The parting lines were minimal. However, the lf side had some issues. The parting line wasn't so good on this side of the body. It took a lot more filler to fix. Also the chrome trims were not as defined to begin with so I had to go back and rescribe them. Because the chrome wasn't well defined, which made BMF a challege. 2. The seperate frame I like, but you really do need to box in the top otherwise it doesn't look so good under the hood. It wasn't a big issue, but caused so fit issues later with the frame and floor pan. 3. The Interior good detail but hard to mask and paint all the different colors - even for a stock version it takes some work and creativity. 4. The steering column has no real reference point to glue it in and it's a bit of quess work and trial and error to get it lined up with the firewall and dash. 5. I could have and maybe should have used something else for the fuel line from the pump to the filter. The kit part sticks out like a sore thumb. The Filter is okay and the pump is real good, but the line seems out of scale and or place. 6. No detail on the drums at all. This is fine with stock wheels but becomes an issue with any open spokes. 7. Tail lamps were not all that great. 8. The grill pushed the fenders out and caused alignment issues. 9. Review mirrors really need and should have had pins. 10. I am not sure about the rear bumper fit, but something isn't right. 11. There is a large gap between the body in interior. I know I missed a bunch, but in the end would I build it again? Yes. I have a stock version on the way, but it will be not right away. I have a bit of AMT syndrom and need to build something else. -

I'm done... A special thanks to Bud Ellis for the chrome tree, it would have never happened without his generosity. It turned out okay. Kind of a typical AMT kit for me. A bunch of little problems. It's still setting up, so once it's dry completely I will get some more pix. -
It is! I think it was the first new Lamborghini since VW bought them. It uses A8 technology. That is pretty funny.

What's your newest project?

Finishing up my Starliner... I am kicking around a few ideas for my next build. Ferrari Scag... I don't know I am kind of getting in the mood for a race car maybe. I am sure it will come to me soon. -
Well that should be any problem at all. If there is some kind of line for the reverse light... Tamiya clear red. It's pretty thin and you should be able to get right up to that line with a brush no problem. If you make a small error you can use a toothpick and some alcohol and clean up the mistake. If you feel you still must mask it Tamiya yellow tape is great stuff. Easy to work with easy to cut. If tape wont work use liquid frisket aka liquid mask. I found Walthers to be the some of the best liquid frisket. If you are talking the trim. Same concepts I would attempt Tamiya tape first if that just isn't working out well just liquid frisket and airbrush the body color. And then paint the lens color on the inside. I have used Microscale Liquid mask and it doesn't work as good as Walthers, which is just liquid latex. If it's a real stupid design that doesn't give you any guide to help painting... i.e. no lines in the mold you will have to do it the hardest way: draw it out on paper frisket and cut it out with an exacto blade or small scissors. It it a low tack self adheasive masking film. Make sure you get the FLAT finish that you can use a pencil on. You will be essencially making a stencel. A pix of the part might make it easier to determine the best plan of attack.

Of course they never break at a convenient time.
-
That does seem weird. How the heck do you break one of those? Unless something went kittywampus...
-
Is it a clear part? Depending on how the part is and what the specific problem is I may have a couple solutions for you.
