  1. I'd be interested to know how that happened too... They have had some weird stuff happen in the past. I am sure there is a story there.
  2. No, not falling for the banana in the tail pipe again.
  3. Not bad for a broken car with the wrong final drive in it. I'd say some cars would last forever, some no matter how well you take care of them they are still junk.
  4. It's just not the big three that forgot the American Work, virtually every industry has - largely because okay you wont do it for some rediculous amount for rediculous hours - some will. for example a Harvard study showed that people are generally most productive working 35-38 hours a week. Over 40 it start dropping off significantly, and over 45 actually cost business billions of dollars a year in mistakes, accidents, and poor judgements. It's mostly the bean counters who only see $ and not people, product or services, and you know what, they are mostly if not entirely wrong on most accounts. Another example: In the 80s GM looking to save themselves millions on a .03 cent connector vs a .04 connector over millions of vehicles over several years. However, the .03 cent connector was not as well build as the .04 connector and they failed to the point of massive recalls, lawsuits, and other related cost associated with mailings, dissatisfied customers, rentals, sevice costs to the tune of billions. The problems is they don't learn for these errors they keep doing it because some bean counting moron, jumping over dollars to pick up pennies, is telling them they will save X millions in the near future if you do this. They saved .01 a car initially but it ended up cost something like $55.00 a car when it was all said and done. It's wide spread, not just limited to the Automotive industry. The companies with the biggest successes and happiest employees have figured this out. However that is only about 1% of American businesses. The rest of them can't see past George Washington's face to Benjamin Franklin's face... and quite frankly they don't seem to care.
  5. I have read that too. Truth is sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't bad maintenance. Sometimes they are just bad cars. The only thing I that I have seen in the shop more times in less miles than the Dodge Ram I drove was this poor little ole Alfa Spyder, also brand new and it had more stupid problems like once the wiper fell off in a rain storm. A radiator hose fell off. A bunch of little stupid stuff fell off. Sometimes the light quite working, some times the radio on got one station. In any event, those type comments are seem more like a weak defense for crappy cars. Unfortunately for them and their defense of Chrysler. I write them off as diehard Chrysler fans, "I couldn't possibly the car," because a lot of times they are incapable of an unbiased opinion.

    993 AD CAR

Yeah, anit that cool the TV comercial was awsome. They say that this was the best selling car ad poster ever made. It is the exact same car as the model I am build... hence the AD 993
  7. Hummm I knew Porsche was up there, they always come in second or third. I always remember Nissan way down the list. and recently Ford overtook Toyota in relaibility, and know it has been faultering. They are too focused on trying to turn out more cars then GM and lost sight of quality control.
  8. It was a modified Gray Market 930 with super cams and the biggest intercooler that would fit in the tail. Yeah I got a little freaked out at 178 so I backed out of it. Above 150mph is the big jump and you are living with decisions you made seconds ago. But I had gone 212 at RA.

    993 AD CAR

so it got a little color today. It needs another coat though. fixed my booboo. painted all the interior parts.
  10. See I knew there had to be a good reason, how many have Fujimi 356 body laying around.
  11. How about a Linclon Town and County Executive Series. For a long time the only factory limo built.
  12. yeah that's not very fast. I was think more on the lines of that 200mph 930 I drove. Fastest car I ever drove on the streets.
  13. well if it was fast enough I'd rather smell dead people than old.
  14. yup and only probably 1/2 as fast. Not to mention it was an old people car. It looked like old people it smelled like old people. I even felt old just driving it. I did, however, promptly got rid of it after a couple months. The only good thing about it was people thought I was the police and pulled over all the time. I am not sure what I got after that. It might have been one of my Mustangs as compensation.
  15. It putted around town okay. They highway... forgetaboutit. Yeah it was like closing a bank vault.
  16. It looks too good to be French. Can't be.
  17. it be a no contest with a 83bhp Vanagon the VW would win easy. That is what I have been told. I was also told there wasn't anything wrong with the engine mechanically. However, no one could explaine why it was such a powerless wonder. I think it was because it weighed like 3 million pounds. It was a two door and I swear the driver door alone was a 1000 pounds. I hit a cement wall! and only pushed the bumper over a bit.
  18. Now there just made of old budweiser cans.
  19. All I can say is it was a Dodge Diplomat with like a 5 bhp slant six. Top speed 55mph for like 10 min after that 40-45 mph with your foot burried in the floor with a tailwind going down hill. That stupid almost killed me. I was nearly taken out - luckly only ended up on the cement divider, because it didn't have enough power to get out of it's own way much less anyone elses. It sounded like a space ship with a plugged cat. Took the entire exhaust system off and it ran no better.
  20. That's insane... Cleaver use of Evergreen, but insanity.
  21. It looks good to me and I am going to build one or two. Kind of a bummer about the gas tank, and the rear wheel opening seems a little too square, but it's vast improvement over what we had.
  22. It's true! The only other Dodge I drove on a daily basis was a brand new company Dodge Ram with Cummings Diesel, and that was just as bad. Spent more time at the dealer than on the road. In 30,000 miles It wore out 8 tires. Was in 4 times for front end alignment, and not from hitting anything. Was in 5 times for tranny noise, was rebuilt once, and completely went out again and replaced new. 2 sets of rotors and 3 sets of brake pads replaced under warr. 1 set of drums and shoes. Was in 3 times for rear end leak, then 2 for rear end noise and finally the center section was replaced. Then back again for a drive shaft balance problem. A/C stopped working 3 times and they replaced a compressor, condensor. It was also in a number of times for a squealing AC belt, they tightened and tightened and tightened the belt, dressed it, the whole engine bay was black with belt dress eventually. The tried replacing the belt, but that never stopped the belt from squealing when the AC compress engaged. I suspect tightening the belt so much may have did the compressor in, but they took care of it. All the lights stopped working on the rear and they replaced the wire harness cab back. Ck engine light came on and needed reset on a regular basis without any said cause. Was in many times for continually decreasing mileage, which was fair for the first 15k, but dropped off significantly and was getting worse and worse the second 15k. They replaces all the injectors, fuel pump, filters, module, I don’t even remember what all else. ###### near the whole fuel system. And had 3 recall/service bulletins to bring it in for immediate saftey repairs. I know it had some other issues including some interior trim that either broke or fell off. I’d drive it down the road and it always sounded like parts were falling off the ###### thing. Now I know some of you probably think, okay, I was hauling a big trailer and no wonder stuff was wearing out left, but I never towed anything with it. It was, however, towed 4 or 5 times. It was just a horrible truck. Dont even get me going on the Dodge I was unfortunate enough to own.
