Got started with this today...This is a mockup with its wheels and tires: It's gonna be painted light blue (the plain ol' Testors square bottle light blue!), and the interiors will be in a leather tone. Also began basic engine assembly...The stock headers are awful, so I started building these:

I'm in! -
Awesome job! I would like it even more if it had a hood w/o the scoop...You know, make it look more "factory". But it's great!
-
That bad, huh? I promise my next one will be better!

Ok, I quit, I'll get started on knitting.

I was gonna turn it into a wrecker, but...I'll just call it done. This was the project I was very close to killing because it has more bloopers than an Schwarzenegger movie. I doesn't look that bad on pics, though...So instead of throing it into a box, I finished it tonight! I still have to wax it...

I was just gonna ask you about the leather color you got for the '32... Thanks! -
It helps a lot to know the base colors used. Thanks!

That seat looks stupid real. What colors did you mix?

Thanks guys! Half of it is. It's a Ford Mustang GTP 4-banger, but I had to scratchbuild the turbo and the exhaust! I tried to be technically accurate, but who knows?

I'm working on a project right now, and it's going rather well, but...Has it happened to you that you start making mistakes on a certain project? And things then kinda start to get a bit messy? And you're able to fix your mistakes, but somehow--and this can be blamed on trying to finish things quickly--that "peaceful" modeling mode in your mind is gone... So I feel like cleaning off the table from everything and starting a new project, taking my time, being methodical...Do it the right way. And what about the current project? Gotta confess I would feel kinda guilty to leave it hanging, but I feel that I need that "switch" and start from clean... So, have you guys felt like this?

This Johan Rambler was done with that procedure Larrygre describes. All the chrome you see is plain cheap aluminum foil: It was my first time doing something like that, and the results were rather nice, although not perfect. I did get some "scrunching", but not more so than when dealing with BMF. And BTW, that is not paint--it's polished plastic.

So, I have two '30s Ford chassis available...

Not to veer off-topic, but San Antonio is a very nice city to live in, lots of cool things to do, low crime, laid-back, lots of Hispanic flavor, low cost of living, and it's not smack-dab into "hurricane alley". Works for me. -
They are, I know! It's one of those things you think about fixing someday, but never get to it. It's been like that for five years...Never finish a model at 3:00 am!

Where are all the South Texan Modelers?

Greg, that sounds great to me! I can get started by write a draft of the letter. How can we get to know their schedule? This is taking shape...how cool. I'll PM you my email and phone info so that we can keep in touch. Thanks! -- Jose -
This is based on the Revell kit. Engine came from the Ford Mustang GTP (had to make the exhaust and turbo from scratch). Wiring is a little bit primitive, but looks kinda good. Wheels and tires came from the Dodge Sidewinder kit.

I think we have exactly the same ideas! It will be awesome if you get to find a place...What Hobby Lobby are you gonna go to? Crossroads? And what's the building you talk about? I work at the Colonnade I building and live at the end of Medical, so that's my area right there! -
Awwwwww, man, this is a sweet, sweet ride!

...From previously built models that didn't survive my move to TX intact, and since I wasn't 100% happy with them, I took off their bodies. One is the Phantom Vickie chassis (I never could warm up to the PV body style), and the other is the '32 Phaeton. Both of them have their engines and wiring done, steelie wheels on the Phaeton chassis, the PV engine is very nicely weathered... So to sum it up, I just want two cool new bodies for these chassis. Any ideas? How about recommending a nice aftermarket company? I dunno where to start... Thanks!

This is my take on the IH Scout: The finish is satin...for some reason it looks glossy in these pics. The wheels are some rare 8-lug Pontiac units. This model has no engine...It's kind of a curbside, and the slammed stance was achieved by gluing the axles to the bottom of the hubs...I will put in an engine in it, and maybe even wire it. I know it makes no functional sense with the axles, but after all, it's just a static model.

I started messin' around with Photoshop, and came up with this idea...I don't know if I should do it like a pickup, or like a businessman coupe in the style of those 1930's Lincoln Zephyrs... What do you guys think?

I'd like something just slightly organized. Here are some ideas from the top of my head (which is not that deep anyway): Initially, just get together, look at cars, talk about modeling. If we get enough people involved, formalize a meeting place. Also, create and print flyers to promote the group. No fees, unless we decide to do some sort of show. Otherwise, all voluntary work. Encompass all things automotive...and maybe motorcycles too. No planes, tanks, etc. Find a name? This should be done when we become more organized. Is there any conflicts if there's an existing IPMS groups like Alamo Squadron? My idea is that we would support their activities too, like ModelFiesta. That's it for now...Food for thought, I guess...
