  1. Thanks for the tip, Raul! Brief update: Did some work at lunch time here at work and made the rear "firewall" and deck...It looks crooked on the body pic, but it's just because it was a quick mock-up. Modeling at the office? Yep. Baby wipe boxes are one of the most useful things around: I even store my models in them, padded with paper towels!
  2. Yup. Awesome job!
  3. The reverse suspension idea I got from a wild rat rod I saw in Ol' Skool Rodz...Why are you suggesting the electric fan..?
  4. Here's where my madness develops. Just a plain plastic table in a corner of the garage. Compressor is underneath. Everything else is kept close by in containers, boxes, drawers. A SW radio for aural entertainment, and yes, I usually just turn on the lamps when working...Turning on the garage light bothers me.
  5. Finally got to do some stuff on this build, basically the floorpan. I tried unsuccessfully to build a rounded transmission tunnel, so after a few tries I did this...In a way, it fits the project better. It still needs to be puttied and sanded, and I might add a few thin strips to be bottom to simulate a corrugated pan. Also, I'm considering using that flat area on top of the tunnel as the instument panel...Put a few gauges on there... It's tight in there!
  6. Just wanted to sugest that for the website it would be ideal to create a free blog account like the one you can get from Google's Blogger.
  7. Thanks for the feedback, guys! It's nice to know they offer good stuff...I'll be buying some stuff from them, it seems.
  8. Any experience with their stuff? Everything looks yummylicious, well-designed, and the price is right. How was it buying from them? Quality of parts? I'm really interested in getting some of their stuff. Thanks!
  9. A nice way to get the springs with even spacing is to wrap the wire around a wood screw of the appropriate size and thread. Looking good!
  10. Looks like a late 1960's Toyota Corona coupe to me...
  11. I stumbled onto this: * brain gears whirring *
  12. Any pics of them? They have zero pics at their website...
  13. I like it! And the wheels are a very unique touch, very cool.
  14. * tumbleweeds *
  15. Hey, Ben! Fellow San Antonio modeler here... For 1:25 scale work, I just switched from using inches to using millimeters. Why? Because in scale, 1mm is basically equivalent to 1". Or just use this: Scale Calculator
  16. Okay guys, made some progress Friday night. Finished scratchbuilding the rear suspension, torque tube, located the engine, and I'm halfway through the front suspension. Pics show 95% real stance of the car when finished...I'm liking it. Had to flip the front spring to make it reaaaally low. I still don't know what color to paint it. Suggestions?
  17. This is another club build. I wanted something really different, so I used a set of 8-bolt rims that I had, lowered the darned thing to the ground, put whitewalls, and painted it in suede cranberry, with a light green (!) interior. Oh, and it has no engine, I'll put one in someday...
  18. This project started as a club build that I never finished on time. So after three years, I concluded the project to about 99%. It was originally all yellow, but the paint on the hood went too thin, I retouched it and messed it up, etc...So in a bit of inspiration, I put a scoop on it and shot flat black on it. But now it kinda stood up there by itself, so I went ahead and painted a bumblebee stripe on the back. Does it make sense? Maybe not. But I kinda like it. It has a Sidewinder engine, and Japanese custom wire wheels with brake discs. The grille bars are made of guitar strings. Yeah, I know it's weird.
  19. Basically a bone-stock build except for custom wheel, tire and brake combo. This is just the way I'd like a GTI to look if I had one...
  20. Thanks! You can blame the notorious MadSlammer for that...
  21. You owe me a new keyboard. This one is covered in drool...
  22. I built this one in just one day, we had a big show in Puerto Rico back in 2004, and I didn't have anything new, so I decided that morning to build a model in just one day! Thankfully, my wife agreed and let me be for that day...Heehee. The idea was to present something like a real rod in progress, and not necessarily a rat rod as the "final destination". So it's kinda dirty and rusty, but not extremely so, and the wheels and engine have nice, matching paint colors. The interior is dirty by getting into the car and driving it after working on more repairs...
  23. This is my current project. Unchopped Tall-T body, scratchbuilt chassis (it has already undergone a few mods since the pics), with "recycled" motor and wheel/tire combo from another old built kit I had (that is undergoing restoration)...The idea is to get this baby as low to the ground as I can...
