  1. Hey guys! I remember bringing this up almost a year ago but then I was abducted by aliens... They brought me back, though, and let me tell you, they have killer airbrush set-ups. Anyway, I'm poking here and checking about the possibility of creating a car modeler club here in San Antonio. There were a few guys interested, but it all fizzled out... So, any fellow Alamo modelers 'round here?
  2. 37 and sometimes feel like 73. Been building models since I was eight, in on-and-off period throughout my life...My first real decent model was the Monogram Lemon Crate.

    hot rod PR

Great job! I got that car's sister. Good choice on keeping the vintage wheel/tire combo. That looks clean and slick.
  4. I have a few pics of the 3rd Caribbean Scale Auto Expo. I dunno who built what, so bear with me! I have more scattered in my laptop computer...
  5. One of the coolest things I've seen here in a while. Completely original and off the beaten path. Congrats!
  6. Also, I couldn't help but keep being amazed at the wonderful track. The lights, the surrounding architecture, the huge amount of fans, it was just...WOW. The cars looked amazing, slick and watery, especially Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams, although I can say the Force India gold looked positively royal. Great eye candy plus great racing...Definitely worth waking up early on a weekend!
  7. Great race, I'm happy for Alonso, but more so for Nico. And Hamilton got a solid 3rd, which I really like. What the heck happened to Ferrari?! Sheesh...my son wasn't hapy at all (he's a Ferrari fan).
  8. I vouch for Hamilton. Even though he's heavily criticized, he's brought some needed fire into F1.
  9. I used to have one of these old Tamiya TA02 touring cars: Unfortunately, I "lost" it when I moved from Jacksonville to Puerto Rico...
  10. Juha is my hero! LOVE his models. 1) Tell him to post here! 2) I wanna know how he installs his windows! Kit "glass" is one of my pet peeves. I replace it with clear styrene, but gluing them is soooo tricky. How doe she do it?
  11. Instructions? That explains why I had such a hard time cutting out and sticking those black & white decals...They never looked right.
  12. Man, I hate this. I've been stuck with my Mustang II project basically because some chassis technical things that need to be fixed. One part of me sayd that I should fix them in the correct, prototypical way, but I can't push myself to do it. So I'm thinking about how I used to do models, and that if the tires didn't fit on the back, I'd cut the chassis inward, or remove the front fender liners to get the nose down...And I realized I had more fun when I didn't worry about getting things prototypically right. So screw that, I'm attacking the chassis with an X-Acto and a file tonight!

    1974 GTO

    Awesome! Keep it up, man!
  14. The AMT kits have a HUGE gap between the door skins and the interior bucket. What's the correct way to "repair" that? I've searched for pics on the web but had no success...
  15. Someone's gonna steal that purse! Great job!
  16. I gotta get me one of those!
  17. Love that thing, bro! I wish there were more modern American cars available in 1:25!
  18. Agreed. I'm grateful that it seems that it won't touch San Antonio, but Houston, et al...GET THE HECK OUTTA THERE! Please.
  19. Wonderful idea! I would keep it stock-looking...Make it look like a factory option. So, check out the Mustang color list...
  20. Click here to see good on-board footage of the Hamilton/Raikkonen duel!

    HOT ROD

I would remove the chrome off the big rims, and paint them in a nice color. I think the yellow you had on the original rims could work nice. You could also paint them red, but paint the rim white (kinda simulating a whitewall), or leave the rim chrome. This is what I did with my '34 in a similar vein to your cool-looking rod: By the way, I absolutely love that creamy color you chose!
  22. I used the good ol' purple degreaser.
