    Nice clean work, but before you get too far - that piece is not a separate subframe on the 1:1, it's part of the body structure.   Only the K member and the trans mount would be painted black.   Most of the suspension and steering parts were unfinished steel, except the lower control arms which had a coating of Cosmoline, giving them a gold tinge.

    That's a Motor Wheel Fly - same make as the Spyder rear wheeks.   Not Centerline.

    Apart from the window, the whole quarter panel bothers me on the Revell/Monogram body.  It almost looks like it's been shortened, and the wheel opening is too tall and too square.  Also, the lower edge appears to angle up too sharply towards the bumper.  I didn't notice it as much on the Boss 429, but I never felt the Shelby I built looked right in that area.

    I'm well aware of their other shortcomings, but the rear quarters on the AMT and MPC look more like the real thing, to my eye.

    Ah, makes sense now.  That's a neat project, I'll follow with interest.

    I've used Plastruct ABS, which comes in channel sections that are roughly 10" and 12" deep in 1/25.   This is the larger section, with styrene added to bring the flanges to the width I needed.  It's a bit floppy in longer lengths, so you have to take care to keep it straight while you're assembling everything.

    No, quite right.  It was the discussion of a '67 R-code that led me down that path, but I forgot the OP didn't specify a year.

  6. Aside from the Webers being wrong, the big block injection manifold has incorrect port spacing and the Hiborn blower hat (assuming that's what it was meant to represent) is way undersize too - shown here on the right, next to the one from the Revell parts pack 427 Ford.

    That aside, it's a typical AMT annual but it looks fine when it's put together.  I'm building this one as a late '60s gasser, after M/SP got rolled into the gas class.

The Starliner engine is about the best FE but for an accurate R-code you'll want the pent roof valve covers.  Might as well look for the AMT 427 Fairlane, which has the correct R-code intake and valve covers.  The Fairlane engine is also pretty good and it has separate C6 and Toploader transmissions.

    Not quite, the 472 came out in 1968.    The '59 390 still isn't correct though, because the '63 - '67 429 was redesigned with a front mounted distributor.  The '59 also has a Hydramatic transmission, whereas the '66 would have a TH400.

    Yes, same M&H slicks.  I've noticed in recent reissues they have both 11.00-16 and 8.20-15 (or whatever the narrower Revell slicks were) markings on the sidewall.  Fronts are the skinny Pirellis also found in the '31 sedan, Miss Deal etc.

    As for seat #10, it's very close to the AMT '49 Mercury seat, bu a bit more squared off, so I'm not sure it's a match. The seat I have has button head detail in the creases, and appears to have piping around the pleated insert, too, if that helps. The kit I have pics of is long gone, so if anyone has a kit in hand and wants to confirm or refute the seats are a match, please do. Here's seat #10, and the last image is of the seats from the '90s reissue:

    Yeah, I see.  I was going from memory, but obviously not on the money this time.
