  1. Something different! Entex 1959 Triumph TR3 body on Revell Thames Panel gasser chassis. No mods to the chassis, but the body is requiring some massaging to get it to fit correctly. I kept the Olds engine from the Thames, but swapped the fuel injection for a tunnel ram. Tilt front end coming up next...
  2. Project Motorhome is finished! I have posted completed photos in the light truck forum.
  3. Finished Project Motorhome late last year, but was waiting until I got the "tow'd" vehicle finished up to display with the MH. I started with a Hess race team hauler toy (a second one is shown in the pics for reference) that I extensively modified to loosely replicate a modern Class A motorhome. Modifications include: - filled-in left side and rear ramp doors - stripped all of the chrome - smoothed the front bumper, added custom grill and fog lights - eliminated the side marker lights at the top on both sides leaving just the front & rear - added an additional window on the right side and tinted all windows except for drivers compartment - retained the working lights system from the original toy - added features such as refrigerator and water heater vents, street hookups, etc. using misc. parts box pieces - added roof vents, satellite dome, and air horns, again from the parts box - scratch built rolled up awning and struts - scratch built rear ladder using brass rod and styrene sheet - swapped the toy-ish wheels and tires with spares from the parts box - painted with Tamiya Pure White, Tamiya Light Metallic Blue, and Tamiya Coral Blue The "tow'd" is an AMT Meyers Manx was built mostly box stock and painted Tamiya Coral Blue to match one of the MH stripes. A parts box tow bar was added and made removable using custom mounts. Overall a very fun project and I think it turned out really well and now looks more like a model than a toy. I did retain the original chassis with battery box for the working lights and there is no engine or interior detail past the drivers compartment. So I guess it is kind of a partial curbside/slammer... (The build progress can be seen in the light truck WIP forum) Enjoy the pics...
  4. Finished another model for 2024! AMT Street Rods series '40 Willys Pickup. Built mostly box stock. I got the kit in an auction. The cab and hood were already painted and the hood scoop of unknown origin was already fitted. The tires were missing, so I scrounged the spare parts box. The kit went together very well except I had to shim the hood hinge about 1mm to get the hood to open/close properly. I am very happy with the end result. While I was working on the Willys, I also restored and repainted an old MPC tilt trailer from the Mako Shark kit to haul it on.

    Meyers Manx

First one done in 2024! To be honest though, I started it in December. Painted with Tamiya Coral Blue. Built mostly box stock but added brackets for a tow bar from the parts box.
  6. Ladder under construction. A bit tedious but looking pretty good. Brass rod and styrene steps. Almost time to move this rig to the finished page...
  7. Almost done, but not quite! Windows are in, rolled up simulated awning is done, hitch installed. Still working on the rear ladder. After that I need to build the "Tow'd". The towbar is already made and the Tow'd vehicle is under construction.
  8. Wiring done. Custom grille done. Still more work to do on the windows and more details. And it needs a hitch.
  9. Slowly getting there. Primary colors are on. Now to finish up details like windows, mirrors, etc. and rerun the wiring for the lights.
  10. Added accessories and first coat of paint. Tamiya Pure White
  11. Starting to look less like a Hess toy and more like a motorhome!
  12. Lots of "fill, file, sand, repeat!" Almost ready for first primer coat. Smoothed the front bumper more and added holes for fog lights. Filled in most of the rooftop side marker lights, leaving the front and rear to still light up. Filled in the left side ramp door, modified the right side ramp door to look more like a standard RV entry door.
  13. Body work started. Bumpers and side rails dechromed. Front bumper smoothed. New window opening on passenger side. Rear ramp door opening filled in. All Hess lettering removed. More body work planned.
  14. In 1/25 scale it would equal 24' long by 7'8" wide in full scale.
  15. Picked up a 1998 Hess race team hauler that was missing some items including the racecar and motorcycle and the rear ramp door. So, I am repurposing it as a motorhome. Got it stripped down and a set of custom wheels from the parts box mocked up. On the the body mods!
  16. Ace Hardware metallic copper over Duplicolor primer. No clear. Polished with Novus.
  17. Chevy 235 in '32 Ford Sedan Pontiac 215 (modified Chevy) in '64 Tempest Resin Chevy Performance 250 w/Powerglide from VCG Resins by Reese
  18. Introducing the Copper Coupe! I started this 25+ years ago, then it went into storage while I built other kits and spent time on my many other "hobbies." Got it back out last year determined to finish it. That took a while, but here she is! The body and center frame section were all that was used from the Monogram ZZTop Eliminator kit. Many mods including: - roof molded to the body - molded in windshield frame - 1-piece molded tilt & removeable front hood assembly w/sectioned grill - recessed and smoothed firewall - custom partial belly pan - opening trunk lid with working strut - scratch built trunk with 3D printed fuel cell - custom fabricated hood and trunk hinges - chassis modified with scratch built front and rear subframes - independent front & rear suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, and rear transaxle, all from the Hardcastle & McCormick Coyote - Chrysler 2.2L Turbo from a Dodge Daytona kit, modified for RWD - aftermarket Fujimi wheels and tires
  19. Starting to glue parts on. Hopefully won't be too long now. Still need to paint the body.
