this is model 6 of my knight rider reboot of the original show idea it would be a 1 to 1 remake of the original show episodes and set in the same time frame as the original and instead of a firebird they choose to use a camaro instead this is my idea of the season 3 version of KARR I made his tech be more computer monitor display and push button controls unlike the later KITT which had voice activated controls and a holographic heads up display I realized that KARR would have been based on the 80 Firebird and not the 82 as was in the show due to info in the season 1 episode trust does not rust about KARR and from the info in the season 3 opening 2 part episode knight of drones about Wilton knight shutting down both flag and knight industries for a full year after his first choice for michael’s job was murdered and did not reopen them till they found and rescued Michael which was in September of 82 and after that was when Devon had KITT built and programmed so both flag and knight industries would have been shut down September of 81 and work on KARR started in 79 and Devon had thought Wilton had KARR disassembled but Wilton had KARR deactivated and stored away in a room at the knight museum so all of this leads to KARR would have been based on the 80 Firebird body style not the 82 Firebird body style

thank you and yes the original KITT has a amazing dash design also there are knight rider replica building sites that make and sell the dash upper and lower consoles and scanner and front nose and pmd seats the fog lights that replace the headlights and the turbocast rims and bowling ball hubcaps for people to use to build KITT replicas

this is one of KITT's two new modes in Knight Rider season 4 two part season premiere after KITT needed to be fully rebuilt after being smashed and trashed by a armored battering ram vehicle called the juggernaut in Chicago after KITT's molecular bonded shell that made him indestructible to physical attacks and weapons fire was neutralized after being sprayed with a chemical some behind the scenes triva the full time convertible KITT was built by George Barris and he had to use his personal 82 v6 firebird since the production team did not get him one of the train wreck 83 Trans am they had in time and so they had to buy him a brand new Trans am to replace it that is why the full time convertible KITT is still around today it is on display at the dezerland museum in Orlando also this was the only drivable KITT car that did not have a line lock system for doing controlled 180 and 360 spins so the stunt driver had to pull the emergency brake to do those spins when needed for the model build I modified a aoshima season 4 KITT kit and scratch built the custom convertible roadster tonneau cover

It is cool concept the main reason Pontiac was gave new 82 trans ams to the production in the early first season was hoping it would boost sales well they were right but also wrong as people were coming into Pontiac dealers wanting to buy trans ams but not normal trans ams they wanted KITT and they could not sell them a trans am that looked like KITT sure they could sell them a jet black trans am with tan interior but that’s not what these new sale wanted they wanted it to look like it does in the show which they could not do so they had the production stop referring to KITT as a Pontiac trans am so they had to start using more basic descriptions like black t-top or black car in the later half of season 1 through the rest of the series And it is why they could not get the 88 Pontiac banshee concept car or use it’s likeness for the 1991 tv movie knight rider 2000 cause Pontiac did not want to deal with that situation again

Pontiac had plans to make a KNIGHT RIDER edition Trans am they made a concept car for photos to show to higher ups but it never happened the car reappeared several years ago up for auction on ebay and was bought and has not been seen since I could not find a model kit of correct year of Trans am for this but did find a mpc 84 Trans am rebuilder and traded a amt 67 mustang rebuilder for it and I decided to make my replica of this car with the 84 I did have to swap the rims and the rear spoiler and had to add the side mirrors I soaked the model in cold water both to clean all the dust off the parts but it also was cold enough to safely pop it all apart without out breaking any parts I then repainted the parts Glenn a Larson and Stu Philips originally wanted to use Harry thumann’s Synth pop song sphinx for the opening theme music for knight rider but could not get the rights to use it so they had to create a new piece of synth pop music based on it but they did want to add a prominent hook to it so they used a section from a piece of classical music called the procession of Bacchus as the hook I found a edit of the song sphinx with richard basehart’s opening monologue and sound effects from the knight rider opening theme mixed together and have it playing in the background of this video I have also included photos of the actual concept car that came from that eBay listing and the original photo layout Pontiac did to try and get it greenlit
