Hi Bob! Good for us that you joined the hobby, since your subjects and execution are great! Keep them coming. I'm 66, and as we both know all too well, there is "so much styrene, and so little time". Regards, CT

Hi David! Wow, great design, fabulous looks, and perfect execution. World class, really. Bravo! CT

HI! Granted, the custom Caddy Mirage was offered at the beginning of the 70's... But don't let history get in the way of a fun mash-up! SO... 1964 Johan Caddy convertible, adding roof panel from AMT's 57 300C, scratchbuilt B-pillars & quarter windows, rolling rear window, box and marchandise. Rolling stock from 57 300C. Custom cognac candy paint with Wet Look clear. Fully polished. Custom mix acrylic for the cabin and box floor. Curbside, with dropped height. Hours of fun with styrene! CT

PRO-TORINO: 1972 Johan Torino pro-touring

Hi Francis! Thanks for the comments. I was worried too: this was posted a few days ago, and still, no Francis roaming around? You have good eyes, and when I took pictures of it, I was expecting you would note the lack of green air valves on the mags. I forgot it, would-you believe it? I noticed it after the wheels were glued on the spindles, and I knew you would be the only person to notice it! LOL! CT -

Hi Steve! Thanks for the comments. You are right, on pic seems more tan than the others. You have to thank my "photographer's talent" for that! Really, the Tamya's Racing white is true to what the cap indicates. To the stance: I could not get it lower unless it touched the ground... CT -

Thanks Larry! -
Hi Jim! Thanks for the infos. With two versions on the market, they chose to spare the cost of a second mold, I guess... I have the remnant of a Chezoom that gave its roof on a mash-up. Still looking for a second copy, but of the full detail kid, for the windows mostly. CT

HI! They are perfect to enhance the mid-50's vibe on any car of that era. Thanks for your reply. CT

Hi Jim! Great progres, bravo!. One question for you: you say that the hood on this kit was molded shut, but your box says "full detail" kit, with "engine included". Does-it mean that on the fully detailed kit (not the curbside) the hood is shut? Just curious... I have the curbside in my stash, and it IS molded shut. CT

Hi Bill! Very impressive, with great details. World class. Bravo! CT

Hi Mike! Formidable work as usual! I'll be following your technique with the o-ring. It's interesting. I remember a friend who had a set of similar wheels on his 1/1 HD Chopper. I think they were sold by "Invader Wheels", back in the late 70's. Very nice, but they were fragile for a road-going vehicle. Nostalgia... CT -
Hi David! Masterfull work, a match made in heaven, bravo! One question: The rodded Volks in the background intrigues me: are the wheels from a 37 Cord? They look the part. Just curious... CT

Thanks David! I had a 73 Ranchero in 1976, but to me, the front end of the 72, and the pre 5MPH bumpers are the holy grail of Torinos/Rancheros. CT -

Thanks David! I know that we both lean toward subtle colours. I had a 1/1 73 Ranchero, and I painted it with a 71 Caddy Eldo lacquer, "Willow" white. Almos identical. Nostalgia... CT -

Hi Steve! Good idea, I checked it with the Starsky's in my stash, and it would work. Actually, the dash on this 72 IS from S&H. Fits fairly well. CT -
Round2 -- AMT & MPC Kits for 2021
Claude Thibodeau replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hi! Regarding the Challenger FC, I've been able to build and compare most of them, and in my view, the Johan is the most advanced, body-wise. However, it still has very shallow "cut lines" at the doors and hood, which is odd, since they started from scratch for this specific body. Go figure... CT
