I guess the next release is the BMW M8 GTE and then maybe the 911 RSR and GT3R? Also, if anyone has an “in” with Nunu, tell them the world needs a 1/24 Lamborghini Huracan GT3, too! ? Ben

Hasegawa Mirror Finish Film - anyone tried it?
Ben Brown replied to Ben Brown's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks! It sounds like something that will work for what I need to do. I'll order some and play with it. At the least, I'll be able to use it for rearview mirrors. Ben -
Has anyone tried this stuff? Is it a mirrored adhesive backed Mylar instead of foil? I’m looking for something to replicate chromed stripes on an upcoming race car model. I'll need to cut them to ~3mm wide and they'll run the length of the car. I’m looking for an alternative to Bare Metal foil, which wrinkles too easily. I’ve never been able to get the stuff to look halfway decent. Thanks! Ben

What is a good pre thinned paint for model bodies
Ben Brown replied to youpey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
+1 on MCW and Scale Finishes Also: Splash Paints ( based in the US) Gravity Colors Spain (NOT Gravity Colors USA!!!) Zero Paints (limited availability in the US) SpotModel out of Spain is selling paint from a company called Street Blisters that has a growing list of colors. I’ve never tried them, though, but I do purchase from SpotModel often. All of the above are pretty hot lacquers and require a primer coat. Ben -
Beautiful! Ben

I’ve found that sanding the tread and painting the sidewalls Tamiya XF-85 Rubber Black really helps the looks of vinyl tires. I’ve used it for a while on my airplane builds. Rubbing some dark grey or dark brown pastels in can help break up the monochrome look. Ben

I like your choice of liveries! I finished one of these not too long ago using Hobbitime's IMSA conversion and Indycals decals. It's an old kit (1989), so it has fit issues (see the headlight covers?) and the mold quality isn't up to what we're seeing coming from Tamiya and Nunu these days, but it still builds up into a good looking model. Personally, I prefer curbsides, because I don't like detailing engines and open hoods break up the lines of the car. Cars are a break from detailing 1/48 airplanes for me, so I'm usually looking for something simple. Ben

Thanks for confirming! Ben

Beautiful! What Tamiya paint did you use? TS-50? This car is on my list of future builds. Ben

That looks pretty good. I guess I’ll have another addition to my IMSA fleet soon. Now Nunu needs to get cracking on a Huracan GT3! Ben -

Ferrari F40 Totip
Ben Brown replied to Stroker Ace's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Wow, nice! Are those the kit decals? I looked all over for Totip decals for mine but had to settle for Pilot. Ben -
+1 for Gravity Spain! Do a little googling before you send any money to Gravity USA. My experience with them was similar to what several others have run into, so I shop elsewhere. Ben

Me too! I was only going to buy the sprue with the wing for another project until I saw the Volt decals. I now have the kit, paint, and decals. I’m trying to force myself to finish my current project before I start the Mustang. Ben

Tamiya LP series lacquer paints
Ben Brown replied to Dave Toups's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
SpotModel from Spain has them and ships to the US. I’ve dealt with them many times and highly recommend them. They’re my first stop for all race car-related modeling. LINK Ben -
A C8R and a Huracan GT3 from them would be great! Ben

This is a great kit! I built one last year. You've picked my other favorite NA Miata color (along with Mariner Blue). The BRG definitely looks classier! Ben -
“Lord Vader, your car is ready.” (Actually, that was an old Chevy ad) Looking great, Dann! Those cars look great in black. I think this might be another kit I didn’t know I needed.? Ben
