Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
RockinRoller replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hello, I bought a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetline Aerosedan 11 years ago... then came marriage, house, daughter, work... and little time, but steady step by step work on the car. Completely torn apart, frame-off, Chassis Engineering Rearend kit, with a 1979 Camaro 350/TH350 and rearend. Mustang tank replaced trunk floor and safe room underneath for exhaust. Body/Frame got stripped by hand and media-blasted... Complete bodywork was done by a professional for "hurting-much-money" -> but perfectly done! Molded in fenders and a completely reworked trunk area! Nice gaps al around! Chassis and front suspension was also reworked by me... god bless GM is documented as a VW Beetle... enough repair books are available! Engine is rebuild professionally at the oment (Had 89K miles on it when bought!) Collecting all the parts, trim and stuff to say it is a 99% complete car - 1% missing original steering wheel... Hope to get it painted and reassembled within the next 3 years. But I´m also willing to sell, because it is a little too much for me at the moment - maybe trade against a driving 1976 Laguna or a 1954-...Olds. -> If someone is interested: rockinroller@gmx.de (Berlin/Germany) My second 1:1 ride is a 1957 IWL "SR56 Wiesel" (Stadt/Town, Roller/Scooter, `56 first year, Weasel) Bought: Restored... everything inside/under the body is like new, changed to that also original paint "skin". First year `22 2024 with new rear-body (better original paint!) and seat (bouquet leather...) Greetings Oliver -

The waiting has an end! Look for "Andrey Bezrodny" on Facebook or YouTube or the usual websites for §D-print models/files like: CG Trader 3D Export or Cults 3D! These are NEW TIMES for us kitbuilders... watch out! I´m very impressed what is possible now...- 113 replies

2025 Cannonball Run - 50 years since the 1975 run.
RockinRoller replied to Mattilacken's topic in Community Builds
@Mattilacken wasn´t able to response faster, because the website always shows an error trying... I restore a 1947 Fleetline Aerosedan for 12 years now... but I would trade against a Laguna to create this one in 1:1! So call me if you are interested (I´m in Berlin/Germany!). I put so much work to make the chassis fit... I guess I keep it, because this won´t be seen anymore when it is "under glass" or on display. I want to create a "childhood memory" as usual with TV- and movie vehicles we are in danger to push it too far with accuracy - and then never get it done. Must learn that over the last 35 years. 😉 Have to make some additional decals and sculting a new rear-bumper... opened the lights and grille to make it more stock. So this on goes way too far already. But who knows, where it leads me with my personal issue of "not being able to keep a build simple". 😄 Sooo much filling and sanding to do... rear bumper is in a resculpting process to create the cutout for license plate area... tinytinytiny... Hello from Berlin/Germany! I´m in with my 1975 Laguna Hawaiian Tropic car... that jumps the pool in the movie... First time starting this build I thought it was a easy-peasy buildup... but as usual it turns into a expensive and time-consuming drama... but who cares - that´s the hobby! 😄 I´m a TV- & Movie-Vehicle (model)builder and a collector... so the original MPC box stays unbuild and I decided to grab one of the many issues of that kit. The kit is absolute cruel... and as more as you dig into the moviecar, you see, it has nothing in common, only the base-bodyshape... much to do and a benefit to join my first community build! God bless 3D-printing... Greetings, Oliver -
Hi, use my advice or not... have fun!

Hello Michelle, I guess with all the "nice"..."well done"... comments you will never grow in your skills. The the picture of your finished model(s) don´t impress me much - and I don´t want to harm you or offend! (Sorry - I´m German, so I don´t always find the correct words in your language...) What bugged me most is the window frames painted by hand with silver paint... it don´t matter how well everything else may be done - that ruin the looks! My suggestion here: - Prep everything well before and be sure the surface and structures are clean, crisp in detail and "there"! That means - if you lost tiny details by sanding (we focus here on window frames) re-scribe them with a sharp "scribing" tool and use sturdy tape for guidance. (Search scribing tools on YouTube) - So you are ready for primer (use no automotive stuff -> too much too agressive) -> use Tamiya fine-surface primer - Paint your model after that... (I prefer oldschool solvent-based colors or automotive colors for my airbrush) if you want a rattlecan -> Tamiya TS! Or use Mr.Hobby "C" colors (dark blue sticker) - let it sit for a week... don´t look touch or whatever! Now whe finally came to the point -> window-frames (and other similar stuff): - buy Bare Metal Foil "Chrome" NOT "Super Bright Chrome"! - buy surgical knife(s) (Amazon) Use BMF for these frames... look on YouTube for tutorial, there are many! After all use clear-coat... Model-Clear Coat!!! I use Mr. Hobby Topcoat -> pricey but effective!!! -> Let dry 1-2 weeks minimum!!! (Topcoat is easy, but so damn slow drying...) - NOW apply decals, make black washing into door gaps, blower here for example, grille... rims... (use "Oilbrusher from MIG AMMO" and white spirit to remove everything you don´t need after a day or two drying. Don´t worry these stuff doesn´t stick to the paint! - Now give it a final coat of clear to seal everything... or "flat" when desired... or "semi-gloss" for making the look perfectly vintage, because thermo-paint/laquers back then wasn´t that shiny than todays finishes! You will be amazed by your own work then, trust me! And don´t feel angry - many years back a guy told me that and more on a model-club meeting in front of all other guys... his words where much mor harsh and cutting - but do their work on me putting that "extra mile" in my work! And don´t forget - using the "right tools" for the job - saving time by using "something" to get it faster done mostly ends up in "more work" or "crappy work". And a last thing from my side is - focus on what is important for you! I glued hoods to the body for years, because "I" have no interest in detailed engines, when the car sits in his clear-case after being done. And that is the point - getting things done and focus... It was a big thing for me to let this in my brain! By the way: nobody looks under a scale model... 😉 -> clean build, flat-black, a bit drybrushing... done! (Look for "Drybrushing" also... 😉 ) Enough now - If you need advice, have questions, feel free to contact me: rockinroller@gmx.de Greetings, Oliver

Got it too... build it 1 time, sell it 2 times and still ahve one here to build! It is a very nice and well fitting kit! The fact its resin is no reaso to miss it! Very nice... and I say that from a point building kits for 35+ years!
-
Very nice - thank you for another possible source! But I guess the resin-casting days are over... nearly everything can be downloaded, reworked and sla-printed in such a great quality... takes a bit of the romance of days gone by - but opens a "huge" door to so much more possibilities! We will see, how this will work out... Greetings Oliver

I´m also into this project for years/decades... start the build... sell, start again...sell - house, doughter,job...buy a third set of Movin On Truck and 2 trailers... now I´m looking for all the correct parts - especially the trailer-mural! Everything I found from Tamiya to other decal-manufacturers is not matching my "quality-wishes" some are much too "hard" and some are way too "soft/milky" (sorry for not finding the correct English word sometimes - I´m German). So can anybody help here? Greetings from berlin/Germany, Oliver -
Hi there from Berlin/Germany, as a huge fan of all these 80´s TV-series from my childhood one "black vehicle" always was missing on my shelf... By the way, Knight Rider was the only black vehicle... Airwolf was anthrazite metallic and the Street Hawk Bike was a blue-green metallic color. But on the TV´s of that time they look black. (Forgot about the top of the A-team van...) It take me 7 years with a bunch of 5(!) 3D-illustrators/constructeurs/artists/talkers and a 4 digit amount of money... to get it "almost done" -> a 1:25 scale bike what fits between the other kits on the shelf. Visited the #1 Bike in Deezerland, Orlando,FL 2023. The construction is a multipiece model to make the finishing (paint) easier. I also made decals for it to replicate the gauges. I planned on doing PE-parts also - but the 3D-printing improved soo much making it not necessary. Brake-discs an calipers and small details will be done in January. If anyone is also interested: rockinroller@gmx.de (will not sell a file - evrything else we talk 1:1) Greetings Oliver

I have a very nicely printed and big Razor Crest model... sadly it was a big error! I have a single scale for everythings that flies... 1:48 scale! So I measured that model false and got it printed the wrong scale! It is in flight position with no landing gear - but heavy structure inside to prevent warping or whatever to put it on a polished pipe. Would love to trade against other model kits - looking for: - MPC Thundercharger (Barris) - AMT Fireball 500 (original small box issue) - Kenner Star Wars figures 77-84 - maybe other 1:48 scale Star Wars models like x-wing (fine molds) But we have to match the pinting costs of 300 Dollars... let´s talk on email: rockinroller@gmx.de For all you INCH-guys... 2.54cm = 1 inch ?

Transformers - 1976 Camaro "Bumblebee"
RockinRoller replied to RockinRoller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Praise or new god... 3D printing... The Camaro will get a new buddy right beside it in same scale! The well schooled eye will see some more stuff... the head will be printed again in clear resin, because of the eyes. I also look for 1976 around glue bomb to replace the body panels on it. The ones on the model has less detail and are much comic-like! Also I do the same with the wheels. I will replace them with the ones I used on the car-model. The other stuff is: - Star Wars Tantive 4 kit from Gambody scaled down to 1:537 to match the old AMT Enterprise movie version - 1:25 scale Spiderman - 1:25 Thunderroad I´m very satisfied with that new technology!!! AMT Munster's Koach - Like I needed to start another project ...
RockinRoller replied to Jonathan's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hi, visit the original car at Dezerland/Florida in 2023... didn´t know that it was the real thing when I stand in front of it! But I took pictures... The AMT kit had many issues... OK - not really because it was meant to be a fun project for the kids back then. AND it needs to be "buildable"... for us aduld modellers it is sometimes a shame when things are so much details got lost in this process. But it stands for what it was -> a fun project that reflects the correct "Zeitgeist" as we say in Germany. I tried it more than 2 times to build that Drag-U-La the right way... everytime it ends up half done in the box and got traded/sold. I think sometimes we must let things go their way they meant to be and get things done. Hope you understand me...;-) Nice work, nice ideas in craftmanship and solutions!!! Hi Colin, sorry for that late response - I had a little troubled year here with some kind of health-drama inside family - but everything is getting better/well each day by day! So I wasn´t much into kitbuilding... OK - that´s a lie... but first 6 months was very busy here! I looked inside my old ebay-buyings: "1/25 3D print Resin body Pontiac Grand Le Mans Sedan 1976 with OEM wheels" was the name of that auction, but the store is closed now! BUT - you find very much on ebay today... like brown - very nice resin-printed version! And that´s what I´m into for nearly half a year - 3D-printing (letting someone printing). I´m nearly at the end of the line of what I ever wanted to have! Praise this new technology!!! Everything is possible now we once dreamed about! I for myself let a 3D-sculptor create the famous Street Hawk - Bike for me! It takes 5(!) years... Greetings from Berlin/Germany Oliver- 113 replies

Transformers - 1976 Camaro "Bumblebee"
RockinRoller replied to RockinRoller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thank you all very much... it looks better when you see it with the natural eye in a normal distance! To be onest it was not easy to "polish a turd" (quote - junkjard-owner in the movie Christine)... these kits are a hell to work with... thick material, all softener long gone from plastic, lack of detail... I´m nt 100% satisfied with it, but it was the best I could do to it. That´s my honest feelings about that build. Got the missing sideview mirror from a friend now... so it can be completed soon! Thanks again! Oliver -
Transformers - 1976 Camaro "Bumblebee"
RockinRoller replied to RockinRoller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Done - started in 2009 (I guess) January 2023 its done... OK... still missing the driver side mirror. But I will find one. Started with an mexican AMT 1976 Camaro Kit from Ebay without T-Tops! Undercarriage is from the 70 1/2 Camaro. Interior custommade from sheet, selfmade decals (printed by Decalprint.de) selfmade PE-parts for bee otch refresher. Bumpers shortened, rubber bumpers are black electrician-tape (Coroplast) secured with second-glue, rear tires are cutted viny BF_Goodrich tires - widened by glueing two-together an cast them in resin. Taillights made from two pieces - foiled with bare-metal foil and airbrushed with Tamiya clear paints. Tamiya primer, paints and Mr.Hobby /Gunze Topcoat. Stripes are airbrushed by myself. Rust and weathering by AK-rust set... sealed with Gunze topcoat-flat. Try to replicate every piece of weahthering as correct as possible. Use white pigments for weathering the stripes and create the DVD-shaped imprints on the hood. Greetings Oliver -

Hello evryone, is this project still alive? The "new" 3D-printing possibilities made many things possible over the last months... I saw things available in scale I waited a long time for. Rims, figures engines... whole models. There is also a 1977 Le Mans available from guy on ebay. Ordered one and will take pictures when it arrives. It is my first 3D printed 1:25 scale car model... so I´m very interested in how the surface will be! Greetings Oliver- 113 replies

Soooo I designed the new door-decal... it will be in reflective/chrome-like finish and the Letter above in a kind of orange... will need a printed out color-sheet from the printing service to decide. You can see the misalignment on the 1:1 car... beltline with HIGHWAY PATROLE letters - try to catch that also.
-
Yes... the fact is, that it is a fictitious vehicle like most of the cool movie-cars/vehicles. AND THANK YOU!!! I never noticed that it is a six-star!!! My first drawings for the decals are 10 years back... time to get it corrected for print! Already draw the Nevada-Seal inside... tooks hours, but it´s done. That was the hardest part. Until then... Oliver

I started this inside another Topic here: "anyone ever built the cannonball countach kit" (Screenshot from TV) (Source: IMCD) (Source: IMCD) My decals I made years ago... another user told me that it was a Nevada Higway Patrol Vehicle. For me it was always hard to see what is the right logo or even some small details. I will correct my drawings. The kit will be the AMT or MPC 1:25 Firebird. The stock "Turbo" hood came from (*not so) reliable resin years ago. (*This company seems out of business and got plenty of money from me without delivering anything) Some details here: - white spotlights - white oversprayed(?) t-tops - yellow-gold flat "highway Patrol" on doors with a "gold-metal-chrome" star under it Hope I can make a start here soon... Greetings Oliver
