  1. No rush, the kits they came from have been sitting on my shelf for well over a year.
  2. Editing to add possible trades Looking for 1:25 parts for Galaxie Pro Street project: Engine - 427 cammer with tunnel ram preferred, other big Fords considered. The more detailed the better. Transmission - Lenco, 4 speed, drag-prepped autmatic. Open to suggestions. Suspension - Front suspension parts or kit, 4 link rear or other drag racing oriented rear end and suspension.
  3. Thanks, Jürgen. High praise coming from a modeler of your caliber! That goes for BK9300 as well.
  4. Looked at the Cal Drag Combo and it's REALLY basic - metal axles, Galaxie "tow car" is a curbside, etc. Reminiscent of the kits I put together as a kid. No challenge, slap it together in an hour. Can't have that! The '64 Galaxie body looks decent at first glance, thinking I'll use that as the basis of a "Pro Street" car. Tube chassis/rollbar, minimalist interior, tubs and slicks, big honkin' engine, etc. Maybe a tilt front. Haven't looked close at the 427 for the "drag" Falcon, but based on the rest of the kit, probably pretty crude. I'll start looking at aftermarket stuff. Ain't no fun if you can't blow the kid's inheritance.
  5. $21.05 USPS Flat Rate Priority box. Possibly cheaper if I can find a suitable box and send it regular Parcel Post.
  6. I have two Montone dump bodies, one from the AMT Autocar dump truck kit, one from the AMT IH Paystar dump truck kit. Both are complete as far as I know. Not looking for anything at the moment so either or both are yours for actual postage.
  7. I have a couple of car kits in the pipeline, a '57 Ford Fairlane and the Cal Drag Combo Galaxie/Falcon. The '57 will be built stock as a tribute to the one my brother had back in the day. If, that is, I can manage the black/yellow two tone job without screwing it up.
  8. 99% finished, just a few details (exhaust, service body trim, bed detailing) to finish up. In my usual manner, mistakes were made and inspection reveals flaws. Better than the last one, not as good (with any luck) as my next one.
  9. As I suspected/feared, Fusion Chrome does not react well to lacquer. Dulls the finish so it looks like flat aluminum. Putting it OVER cured lacquer works fine.
  10. Thanks, it's good to get back to the bench. I'm quite impressed with the Fusion chrome. Looks really good to me, easy to apply, good coverage over the overspray, a little bit goes a long way. If anything, it's too easy to apply too much. I plan to give everything a coat of clear. A little concerned about how the Fusion will react to the clear lacquer. I'll do a test piece before committing. Waiting on things to dry - both model and atmosphere...
  11. After another long hiatus (Summer, my natural aversion to painting for fear of buggering it up) I'm back at the service truck. Laid a couple coats of MCW Bolero Red lacquer on it without major issues. When the applicable details are added, it'll get a couple of coats of clear. Also hitting the diamond plate on the top of the toolboxes and the back bumper with the Fusionfirm Chrome detailed here. I'm VERY pleased with the result. The pictures highlight a couple of spots I missed which I'll touch up. Letting the first side dry completely before handling it to mask the other side and the bumper. Feels good to be back at it!
  12. Based on this thread, I bought some from Amazon. Applied it to some diamond plate on my service truck build and it's AMAZING! Thanks so much for this tip!
  13. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing your progress on a diorama! Feel free to contact me at the email in my profile if I can be of any help.
  14. As part of a diorama, certainly. As a focus on model railroading in terms of layouts, track plans and operation, probably not as much. There are model railroading forums that would be more helpful.
  15. I see you found us. Welcome aboard!
  16. First, I'm VERY sorry to hear of your physical issues. Second, looking forward to that project, I'll be interested in finding out how well PVA works with plastic. The rest of the plan seems solid to me.
  17. Scenery, like paint, can hide a multitude of evils... Looking great!
  18. Hadn't thought of that David. I was envisioning having the switches mounted external to the model with a "wiring harness" going into the structure.
  19. David, I don't know if availability would be a problem for you, but if I were doing a similar wiring project, I'd use micro toggle switches. Micro sized toggle switches on Amazon
  20. Nice job on the furnishings! It's really coming together.
  21. Toy: 1990 ZR1, 6 speed manual. Not a rocket, but plenty of fun. (Yes, I fixed the wheels. PO had tires rotated without regard to the directional wheels) Work: 2024 F250XL. Thirsty, but a towing beast! 6.8L "minizilla" engine. Grocery Getter: 2020 RAV4. Upgrade from 2012 Corolla that I gave to my daughter to replace her clapped out/unsafe Pontiac G6
  22. I agree, the gable trim looks much better thinned down . Are you going to landscape around the foundation at some point?
  23. Nicely done! Fit-up on the roof looks great. Looking forward to seeing it with the ridges and valleys (gullies) finished.
