It's great that you have the good kits body for up close comparisons to the AMT body which anyone can see is way off in so many ways from the real car. And it is also great that you are showing us what mods are needed to get the AMT body where it can be used to make a decent model of this car. My main concern is the front of the AMT models nose where the opening to the radiator looks horrible on the AMT./

So true, Pierre. I'm passing a lot of time on this seat. I hope you're right about looking good, but it really won't matter with all the stuff blocking the view of it.

1952 Marshall Teague Hudson Hornet
MarkJ replied to jjsipes's topic in Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Jason, way to resurrect a build to completion. Really like the metallic glints in the paint. Also, the saving of the decals and the foil to just like new status is a job very well done. Another excellent build from your bench and I'm sure you gained much satisfaction in finally completing it. -
Got the inner part of the seat finished except for some sanding and adjusting here and there and got back on the outer parts of the seat.

Thanks, Steve and Jason. I thought about just covering the seat in putty and then scribing like you said Jason, but I knew it would end up looking terrible, so that's what led to this. Which will probably look terrible too, but maybe a little more uniform than freehand scribing. But I think I might have bit more off than I can chew, so to speak.

It's getting a little dicey now that the seat is intersecting the sides with the bottom. I'm having to do the best I can to make it work. The outsides of the seat should work out just fine because it is one plane of work all the way around. I just have to clip off the excess and sand it smooth. I will add a narrow piece of styrene at the top to separate the inside surfaces of the seat from the outside surfaces, if that makes any sense at all. Like I said, it will be black, and half covered with seat belt and shoulder harnesses so any big gaffs can be hidden. Plus, I'm not taking any close-up shots of the finished seat at all. You can bet on that one.

Wow, even making your own spoked wheels. Amazing. -

The diamond pattern will continue on the entire seat. I made a bunch of diamonds yesterday but will probably need some more. The seat will be black so it will hardly be noticeable when finished. Probably a good thing. Couldn't just leave it with a flat texture.

1955 Mille Miglia Mercedes 300SLR

Looks very realistic, Pierre. Has just the right sheen for a race car. I'm seeing a homogeneous paint job with no brush marks. -
Thanks for stopping by, Donato and making a comment on the build. It is much appreciated.

Looks like I have a lot of diamonds to make. Oh well, what else do I have to do in the afternoons. No fixed completion date on this or any of my models. Thats why I could never do a community build. Too much pressure to meet a deadline.

Pierre, glad to hear you have the correct wheels on the way. This build is really going to be special like all of your other ones. -
Andrew, was this build ever finished? If so, please supply me a link. I'd like to see the finished product.

Pierre, looks like you have the stance just right. Are those the wheels you are going with or are you waiting for some others to arrive? -

You know what I would pick, but if you feel a need to go to the dark side and use the can. Well let's just say you might be expelled from the Brush Painter's Society of America. Let your conscience be your guide. Just kidding of course. If you feel the need, the need for speed, go for it. It's your model you have a right to create it however it feels best to you. No matter what you use, it is going to be awesome. That is for sure. -

All I can say is, you did it again, Pierre. What a crisp, and clean body. Man, that thing is going to look good with paint on it, not to mention decals and everything else that makes up a beautifully finished build. Can't wait to see it.
