  1. Thanks, Carl for your support during the build. I really appreciated it.
  2. Wow, Pierre. It's coming together perfectly. So, I guess you're using epoxy to hold this creation together. Do you mix it in small batches or how exactly does it work. What do you mix it in?
  3. John, it was cool in the house where I shot the pics but outside it was 105, but the model did not know it. It's been an unusually hot summer this year, but hopefully this week looks like we will get some mid ninety's highs for a change. Thanks for your interest in the build.
  4. I'll definitely be watching this one, Pierre. The one resin I did came out terribly. There are so many builds that the only way to do them is to use a resin kit. The 58 Ford comes to mind. I always wanted to do Curtis Turner's but that's a lot to invest in a body if It's going to come out like the last one, I did. I'm sure this build is going to be Awesome.
  5. It really does help to have a movie of the race car you want to do. That's what I was lucky enough to have on this one. No doubt what the car looked like for this race.
  6. I forgot to include some interior shots. It's hard to take them with my phone after the model is complete.
  7. Bob, I work on my kitchen table and after every build it gets completely cleaned off and ready for the next build. I always do the decals for the next build first because without the decals it's pointless to do the build. So, the table stays cleaned for any length of time it might take to research, obtain images and make the decals, and then put them on sheets. I do a laser white background sheet and a color inkjet sheet. Sometimes it can take up to a week to create the decals, and make the sheets, so the table will stay cleaned for that length of time. Obviously, we don't eat off the kitchen or actually breakfast nook table so it's all good. We are T.V. tray eaters.
  8. Thanks, Garry, Tony, David, Hakan, Andy, Yoshimi, and Bruce. I appreciate your thoughts on the build.
  9. Thanks, Jason, for frequenting the wip while it was going on. I appreciated your comments then and now.
  10. Yes, Jim. They actually talked about him going over the 100,000-dollar mark in the YouTube video I used and posted in the wip. Thanks for the kind words about the build.
  11. Thanks, Pierre. The paint could have been more homogeneous. too many coats on some panels and not enough on others but basically it was about as good as I could have hoped for. Thank goodness this is the last pearlized paint job I will do. The hood pins are just 32-gauge wire tied in a knot and trapped between a rod and a disc then glued on the hood or trunk. Thanks again for the nice words. they are always appreciated.
  12. Finally done. Check out the Nascar finished section for more pictures.
  13. The wip for it is in the wip section under 1963 Super Torque Ford. Click on it for the Start to finish for the build.
  14. Finally finished this one. Been working on it since April. It's supposed to represent the 1963 Southern 500 Livery, but it's basically done using only reference pictures from a you tube video from that race. So, the accuracy of it is debatable.
  15. Thats one thing I am not is organized. Look at any picture in my wips and see the messy work area I have going on. It's surprising I get anything done.
  16. Bob, I had been doing a good job with the logs till this project, but it is basically the same as the Fireball Ford. I did the exact same things for both of the builds.
  17. Thanks, Jim. It was one of my holy grails when I did it a few years ago. Kinda like Fireball's Ford and now Fred's Ford.
  18. Just finished the future so I'm officially calling this one done. Now I just need to take the final photos and move on to the next project. Somewhere along the way I forgot to make entries into the model logbook, so I don't have a number of hours spent on this one. Things got a little hectic there when we were finishing up the selling of my mother in laws house 5 hours away. I will have a start and stop date for it though. Seems like it took forever.
  19. Beautiful as always, Tim. Love the gold.
  20. Thats where I looked but could not find it in finished nascar section. Oh well , glad it was in there.
  21. It's finished except for the final coat of Future or whatever they are calling it nowadays. Below is an in progress shot of the decaling process showing the laser white underlays and the inkjet top color decals.
  22. Thanks, Doc. Really great job on a very unusual subject. Really like the underhood detail. Really enjoyed following the wip on this one.
  23. Another beauty, Yoshimi. I did the same thing with a Jimmy Johnson COT kit. Had to change the front fascia and the quarter glasses. Back then Brad was my favorite driver, so I wanted a replica of his championship car. I had to make my own decals because there were none available yet.
  24. Thanks, Jason. It's been a struggle at times. I will be so glad when it is finally done. It seems the Fireball 63 Ford was a lot easier back in the day when I built it. I always wanted to do this build so I could have the sister car to Fireball's car that day. Fireball had the fastest car overall in Qualifying, but he missed the first day, so he didn't start on the pole. Lorenzen did. Fireball won the race and Fred came in second. During the race Junior had the fastest car which I also built. It fell out around the 400-mile mark with engine failure, overheating as the Chevy 427's liked to do back then. Below is the Junior Livery for the 63 Southern 500.
  25. Doc, I can't find the finished pictures with all the views. This was a very interesting build and to not see the final pictures is kinda disappointing. I know it was 2 years ago but I went to that part of the archive and no Perry Cottingham Buick.
