  1. Slowly, but surely. I'm getting tired of sanding . I want to get back to building.
  2. Wet sanded the body . Found some pin holes and other flaws. Added some more putty where needed. Will sand putty, re- prime and re-sand and hope the body is ready for paint. Want to move on to engine and chassis.
  3. Mike, Got the primer done and am sanding it . Finding spots that will need a little putty but pretty happy with it. Try to post some pics of the primered body.
  4. Well, I think its about ready for primer. I just need to wash the body, let it air dry and shoot it. Probably have to shoot a couple of rounds of primer with sanding in between to smooth out some of the stuff you dont notice till you get the primer on it. I forgot to put the stays for the hood cable but I can do that between primer shoots. that piece of plastic under the grille opening is just trash that will go away when i wash it . Not suppose to be there.
  5. Thanks, Josh. With any luck, I hope to prime the body today . Its in the high 60's here .
  6. Again, This is some seriously awesome work going on here. Those guages are so crisp and clean for 1/24 scale. Like you say if it wasn't for the forum, I would probably just paint the guages black . Once the model's completed, its hard to get good shots of the dash.
  7. Here is that ref pic. I assume all the grand sports had the fine mesh grille.
  8. When I found the ref picture which showed the nubs, I knew I had to include them on my build. They were very painstaking to install. I will be putting a fine mesh grille behind them like the real car had. They didnt just run a gaping hole in front of the radiator like I had assumed they did.
  9. Thanks, Josh. the little nubs have holes in them , which i can only duplicate with a little drop of black paint or maybe a very fine black sharpie. I guess that's where the stock grille attached to the grille opening. They really do look like teeth though.
  10. Gotta love the Chaparrals. Will be watching intently.
  11. Detail work is top notch. Especially the guages. This build is turning out excellently.
  12. Man, I thought you would use the supercharger. Go for the gusto.
  13. Yes, Mike. We survived the Texas Valentine storm massacre of 2021 and feel very fortunate about it. So many others had it much worse. They had ten years to fix our power grid and chose not to. What is cool about this kit is the many engine combinations that can be used. I will be using the webers on the small block but will have to make my own manifold.
  14. Yup. Still a spring chicken.
  15. Sorry haven't had any updates lately. I have been freezing in the dark since Sunday night. finally got power back consistently yesterday. Got some grille area work done.
  16. Yes, Michael. As always, that will be revealed at the end, when the final pics are posted. I will say that, I was a huge fan of the driver back in 1964, and always wanted to do this car, that I saw in Sports Car Graphic magazine, back then, when I was 13 years old. I cut out the pictures and article, and pasted it in a scrap book, I made back then. The scrap book today is falling apart, and the pictures and articles are brown and crumbling, but thanks to the internet ,I have found many ref pictures to use to try to replicate the real car. Thanks for the question.
  17. Great job, Mark. One of the best weathered versions of any stock car I have ever seen done. I have no clue how to do one. Again, excellent job.
  18. Thanks, Josh. But I think I will have to put this idea on hold for a while. Like you said very pricey if you can find anything. Just have to hope for an amt reissue of an old kit they had , which is not very likely.
  19. Josh, Do you know if some one makes a 64 cobra roadster kit with the big block in it? There's a certain driver I want to do that drove one back then.
  20. Look like moroso's painted black. Looks like they still used mechanical fuel pumps back then. How did they ever last at those rpm's for that long?
  21. Wow Jason, started in 2012. Glad you will be finishing it soon. I can tell it will be awesome.
  22. Super nice build of when Rex's career started to take off.
  23. Excellent build, Bryon. Paint, decals , cleanliness of build, all top notch.
  24. Yes, that would have been very cool. Oh well mine aren't perfect by any means, but I felt I had to do them since i'm actually trying to do a grand sport. I was actually thinking about doing a decal but knew that would have looked bogus.
