Thank you for the compliment. I'm really enjoying building "my car" as I've had just about every piece of the actual car in my hands at one time or another! Everything I've found on-line shows the factory routing inside the car, with the caps vented externally. As far as re-location kits, I've seen the positive cable routed inside & under the floorpan. The negative is always grounded to the frame right at the battery.A friend of mine owns a genuine `62 Max Wedge and is our Mopar guru. If it comes down to it, I can get you more info than you'd ever need for one of these cars. Thanks for the compliment! The M-T Drag radials I purchased from forum member Chief Joseph at: http://www.fireballmodels.info They are beautiful and very reasonably priced. Example on the right.

My Wife pointed out a conversation my employer was having with a friend of his about that being "in the works…" on their Facebook page. I hate almost ALL those type of shows. Wouldn't THAT be the irony with this job!
-
Yes…. Sub-consciously I'm ready to throw-up, but the head cold is almost gone. Now my Wife is sick. But the job….this is going to be a whole `nuther story! I am so excited I really should shut up…….

Glad to help……

Now you got me thinking….. I wonder if I can knock out a replica of it? The real car is awesome with some very nice build quality. Hmmm…….
-
I'll just leave this here ……. This guy drives this thing EVERYWHERE.

That is so sweet Dan. I like the realistic engine detailing too. Great wire routing! Too bad about the wheelbase, but these are the set backs we all face. And this is what makes a build "ours" and not out of the box. Looking forward to completion!

Wow! What a great job your doing! The plug wire looms came out nice, as did the chassis plumbing. What did you use for the hold-down clips on the harness/lines? The throttle linkage and accessory wiring makes it all come together instead of isolated detailing. The hold-down for the battery is perfect BTW…. Bob, you got it going. Truly impressive building for a "novice". Keep it up and your going to be one hell of a builder. You definitely have the skills to do it.

Years ago I saw a torque convertor on the side of the Long Island Expressway…. gave me a chuckle thinking about how bad THAT wreck was! Usually you see bolts, nuts, and metal on commercial access highways where scrap trucks come through around here. I doubt there's THAT many hack mechanics out there leaving stuff loose…..

Thanks guys. I know I was going hot & heavy and suddenly stopped. I'm sorry for the interruption but too many other attention grabbers happened. Tonight I painted the sub-frame connectors and some other minor details. The next step is assembling the engine compartment onto the chassis and test-fit the whole shebang….. More to come….

<sigh….> Life occurs…… I got some bench time in this morning, but just enough to sand down the thick resin 6Bbl. air filter into a lid, make a base plate, and make a filter element. I'm off today & about to go out and run some errands. But I figured I'd post this to let everyone know I'm back on track with both the `68 AND the Pink `70. Just between the job-change and being sick and having to deal with CraigsList crackheads coming to look at my buddy's wrecked car I'm baby sitting in my yard……. Tonight we move forward. Here's the resin lid, the element, and base. The element was 5mm sheet, while the base was .015mm. The next time I can't fall asleep I'll hand-sand each element fold to clean it up. I'll probably just hit the plastic with dull-coat and paint the top & bottom of the element orange. The lid will be body color as on my car and the base black. And here it is mocked-up. Now I gotta get my tail IN GEAR!!

The down side is I still feel terrible. But the upside I just decided I have a 3 day weekend……why kill myself when I start the new job in a week? I cough & cough & cough and still feel congested. Headaches and soreness… Bench time? Maybe tomorrow. Bed time now.

I thought I was going to skate through this miserable winter without getting sick. WRONG! At least m not infecting my new co-workers.

My current employer wasn't too happy to hear the news this morning, but when they heard where I was going & what I was doing they agreed it was "the job for me". Unfortunately, a nice head cold is starting to brew….and I physically feel terrible. I'm getting a headache reading this while I'm typing. Hopefully I'll get it out of my system before my start date.

With panel Lines Better or Worse?
FASTBACK340 replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The one area that stands out after the wash are the headlight brows. There's an un-accented seam that should be washed also. Anywhere there's a panel seam it should be addressed to some level of wash. Otherwise the before & after pictures speak for themselves. Beautiful paint & overall build. Nice job! -
Dark Blue….Grey Interior….Graphite Wheels…. That sounds nice! Sweet & subtle combo.

I feel overwhelmed by the opportunity to work with integrity again. The dealership grind started to suck the life out of my soul…..

OUCH!!! If you recall, last summer Amy & I went to a car show where they unveiled a GTO that was restored for a fallen soldier. His name was Major Jeffery Calero and he was a member of the Long Island GTO club. This is the shop that donated the restoration of his car for the family. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/08/27/deer-park-car-shop-honors-fallen-queens-soldier-by-restoring-his-classic/ While I appreciate the humor in the fact that I'm working in an environment that has been exploited for ratings, I'd feel uncomfortable not supporting the fact the owner is a class act. And yes, I thought about the reality show comparison (I can't even watch Graveyard Carz. And it's ALL Mopars!) this is a professional operation. No burn-out's in the parking lot, no shop-drama, it's a family and I'm happy to join them. @ss Monkey Garage is fun to watch though….

FASTBACK340 replied to Ramfins59's topic in Model Cars
Wow! What a nice job you did on the `59 !!!!!! I'm sorry I haven't posted sooner, but I've been distracted this week and got nothing done. The ole `Boat looks really nice!!!!! Great job Rich!! Looking forward to seeing both you & the model next month at NNL East. -
After 22 yrs. of working with Infiniti for Nissan I'm calling it quits….. No more hustle-hustle…. no more cut-throat tactics…. no more, dare I admit it, ripping off customers. March 17th. I start what will hopefully be the final chapter of my life career working on cars. I started with Porsche when I was 19, then moved up to luxury imports. Now I'm hoping to ride this out to retirement. Actually, this WILL be like early retirement!

Are rally drivers the best in the world?
FASTBACK340 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When rally drivers get it right, it's spectacular! When rally drivers get it wrong, it's usually spectacular too, but for the wrong reasons. It takes a certain (mind)set to drive on the edge like that. Don't know about the drivers being the best, but they definitely take the highest risk. -
Detail Master Ignition Wire
FASTBACK340 replied to Quick GMC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's the thicker wire from their web site….. http://www.detailmaster.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=39f62f693311b669ddbe689a5b433e14&Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=detailmaster&Category_Code=DM-RCIW -
Detail Master Ignition Wire
FASTBACK340 replied to Quick GMC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I could be mistaken, but I think it's been sub-divided even further into Race Car ignition wiring. ACCELL or MSD wires are 8-9MM, which is over 5/16". That's pretty thick. Stock wires can be as thin as 5MM. That's about the scale of the DM standard ignition wire. Then the detail wire is just about the size of hair….
