The door graphics look great Tom! Nice to find inspiration in the obscure. It's funny how a conversation goes from detailing models, to neck ties in steak houses, and then back to models!

Not to hi-jack, but Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse in Scottsdale, Arizona did something similar when I was last there 12 yrs. ago. My Father-in-law gave me a cheap tie to wear into the restaurant. As you walked in, the waitress was cutting your tie off as you were seated. It was a goofy tradition as they'd staple the tie to a ceiling beam as your sitting down. I also stapled my cousins NYC Police PBA card to a doorway. It was "that kind of place…" and it was fun. They had personal memorabilia all over the place. Remains of neck ties hung from the rafters like icicles and every flat surface had a business card, student ID, or sticker on it. Too bad the Steak wasn't that good….. Everyone is posting some really good tips. Thanks!

YES! YES! You my friend are my HERO for "doing the right thing…." and assisting a busy person find a safe, LEGAL parking spot! That's a great story! The closest I've come to retaliation on a rude neighbor was one that would block my driveway too. The last time we had an issue was when she parked far enough out that I could get the corner of my Buick's bumper against the right front wheel of her Toyota. All it took was a gentle push to suddenly leave her car sideways blocking 3/4 of the street, and I got to work on time. Thankfully that family moved. Hopefully somewhere with more parking….

Those are so desirable today! Really nice build of a really sweet car. I had a neighbor whom had one "all done up…" and it looked and sounded sweeeet! Great color and the wheels are a given. Another one I have in the stash that should be a build. Nice job!

Front Engine Dragster: The Old Master

Wes forwarded you the proof sheets? Wow, that's great! Talk about accurate reference materials…. Looking forward to seeing more on this. -

No, but I've seen King and Arch Enemy! Interesting how similar some band names sound, and I'm willing to bet that they're miles apart.

OK… I've had a little excitement this week that's taken me away from the workbench. I promise, my Mistress is safe & sound. And no, I didn't step on this one too!!!! This afternoon and tomorrow we get back on track. Updates coming…...

I feel like I hit the lottery!

Close….. Think just before the test ride. Yeah, I'll be building in 1:1 the way I do in scale….. a dream come true. I've talked about this facility in the past and once everything is set, I'll post the TV commercial they air locally.

I can't get into details as yet, but a job situation presented itself to me last week that I'm going to act on. No more cut-throat tactics and hustle-hustle get it done immediately so you can get the next one in mentality that prevails in the flat-rate world. I interviewed this afternoon, talked tasks , money, and Monday I get my start date. Yes, I'll still be pulling engines and working on cars, but in a different environment. No more dealership rat-race gerbil wheel…... This is sooooooooo friggen cool, I'm busting to share. Wait until you see this. I have to wait until Monday to talk about it. This is a gear-head dream come true!

Getting rid of tv programming tired of reality tv
FASTBACK340 replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Aside from the automotive programming, there's a few we watch regularly. American Pickers is interesting, as are Mythbusters. We enjoy watching some of the home improvement shows, especially the shows Mike Holmes is on. And my guilty pleasure is SciFy channel for some of the unexplainable programming they love to make you think about. But the reality is in a few days we start pre-season baseball and there goes MY vote in what we watch for the next 7 months…. My wife loves her Mets. -
Getting rid of tv programming tired of reality tv
FASTBACK340 replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yeah, TV has deteriorated to the point that it scares me to think that there are actually people watching this stuff! I see the ad's for the programs and me & my wife just look at each other in disbelief. But there are a few gems as far as "car" shows in my opinion. Graveyard Cars MUST be DVR'ed or I'll never watch it. It came on last night and I changed the channel. While it's vastly improved from last season, there's still too much scripted filler. But the cars ARE killer…. Reality Rides is another one of those nut-n-bolt shows with un-attractive people showing how they DO IT. No yelling… just info-tainment for a true gear head. It'll probably get cancelled…. Chasing Classic Cars is OK once you get past Wayne looking bored to tears buying & selling cars that cost more than my house, there's some neat cars he tracks down. But he's becoming a little too "Hollywood" lately. Top Gear. Nothing to add…. just love it to death. BTW: The BBC version, not that lame `mericanized show. The NEW Overhauling is better, but way too much product placement and advertising. I know that's what makes it happen, but oooh-faa! Stop selling me Armor-all!!! It's GARBAGE!!! Wheeler-Dealers: Mike is annoying, Ed has skills. He kills himself replacing frames and rebuilding rust-buckets for $400 profit. Waiting for the day Ed pummels Mike into next week for working him like a slave…. Fun show, neat subject matter (NO Camaro/Mustang parade here!) What's in the Barn. Dale & his son are very likable, knowledgeable enthusiasts. Plus the stuff he finds…. wow. All Girls Garage: OK, before I get flamed well-done I watch it for Jessi. No, she's not hot or any other locker-room mentality here. She's actually a good instructor. Ever watch her WELD!?! She's talented, regardless of her gender (although she is a cute welder….) Americarna: Last nights episode was great. Interviews with Don Purdomme, John Force, etc…. Legendary Motorcars is returning. Peter Klume in another awkward person in front of the camera (not as bad as Chip Foose or Barry Meguire…) but it was a good show. More hands-on nut-n-bolts and no stupid drama. Now the bad…. Fast & Loud? Bottle rocket: got your attention, you watched, and said to yourself "thats it"? Counting Cars: Your kidding, right? Did they really sell an ugly green lace/metal flake Dune Buggy for like 20K? Wasn't even a nice dune buggy, never mind the nightmare paint job…. Phantomworks: Please cancel this guy…. he's got the personality of a prison guard. And his work is so…. YAWN! What was I saying? Fifth Gear: Really? Oh, that's right. Top Gear is already taken. And done so much better…. Yeah, ya gotta weed it all out. There's a few keepers. And a few stinkers….. -
Hey, thats pretty nice! Looking forward to more.

Nice paint Dan! I love this build, as it's way cool. Color looks excellent on that body. Looking forward to updates.

Yeah, I knew this was going to happen with the detailing, but I am having fun. If a handful of people can gain something from what I'm doing, that's great. This build has become a little bit passionate for me. I'm even thinking of ripping the interior apart and doing it REALLY nice as the chassis & engine are detailed much more. At the rate I'm going I should definitely have it done for NNL East. Thanks for the compliments and encouragement. BTW: At NNL East I'm parking next to Rich's `59…..

Revell Customer Service
FASTBACK340 replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not a rant, but a minor problem with Revell. While raiding parts from my new Hemi Dart kit I noticed no Drag wheels. I had the stock hub covers, but not the Keystones. Or the Hemi's valve covers. An entire second sheet of chrome was deleted from my kit. I used the on-line request form & explained that the chrome sheet was missing, the one containing the Keystone drag rims and gave the part numbers of the rims. Today I received 2 front Keystone rims and the 2 rear inner chrome wheel halves. Aside from the fact it took 3 weeks (which is NOT a problem, I can wait….) it wasn't what I had requested. Think I'll stand a better chance of trying to call? Or should I inventory the kit and request every single piece by part number via the on-line service? I think I trusted my optimism that it would be read and they'd understand an entire sheet of parts was missing. Not throwing stones, just want to have a complete kit. Thanks for any advice. -

That interior looks good Rich….. nice work! -
This is so original. Using the Rolls is genius! It's like using a Super bird for an El Camino conversion! The license plates for the interior is insane…. you hand cut HOW many? And the spider web radiator insert, and the interior, and the weathering…. Looking forward to seeing more. Great work.

While the injectors look great, what's the deal with the wheels on the Mustang? They look terrific too!
