  1. Thanks guys! I have a few yards chores to do as it's going to be in the 50's today, but the rest of the weekend I'm in the hobby room. Especially since they are predicting drenching rain all day tomorrow. My to-do list for this winter: `68 Barracuda shelf build `62 Lancer street machine `70 Barracuda And maybe a Chevy or VW just to mix thinks up…..
  2. Two builds….. pathetic. One was pre-painted, the second never really finished. Gotta try harder this year.
  3. Those painted & polished BRM's look incredible, but $336 !?!?! HOLY %$#@ !!!!!! Funny thing is I bought all 4 Porsche rims back in `82 for a $100 from someone with a bad "habit" back in the day…. Now I'd have to be his dealer to afford a scale set!
  4. Nice job and great color choice! Never would have thought of cutting up that Buick like that!
  5. Take THAT Juha!!!! Incredible workmanship…. too bad he wasn't recognized sooner.
  6. Boy, X-mas was GOOD for you this year! If I bought 4 Modelhaus pieces (plus tires….) in one shot my Wife would want to talk to me! But seriously, nice subjects you have there. The Caddy looks like a neat piece to do a Pro-Touring
  7. In another thread I have I'm building a shelf replica of my car. Here's the chrome for a `68 Barracuda. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=82697
  8. FWIW: A small block get's lost in that wide E body engine compartment.
  9. That is a nice kit. I built one a few years ago and it went together without any drama and turned out nice. I love the color combo on your build.
  10. FWIW: Popped open my `Cuda kit last night. Nice chrome… same half-bent decal sheet, but otherwise it's pretty nice..
  11. Great color combo. I'm loving all these Barracudas being built! I just got mine…. Not sure what color the first one will be. Maybe FM3 ….
  12. Aside from me getting my MCM today also, I found a package containing my Slingster kit. Tonight after dinner I get to paw through the Slingster and the new `70 Hemi Cuda that I had to wait until X-mas for…..
  13. What a great shot! The back of your Fury looks really nice Dan. REALLY nice !!!!
  14. This is going to be a curbside. And as for the 1:1, thank you for the compliment. We made some sacrifices over the course of a few years, and if it wasn't for my Wife and her support, we wouldn't have it. She really is a Car Gal deep down inside. Growing up her Father always had a yard full of MG's & Healy's in various states of repair. She understands, and I'm very grateful for it. Now that I've officially turned this into a bit more than a "quickie" I may as well get cracking….. It's actually going pretty smooth. It's all fun right now. Thanks for the comments and encouragement gang!
  15. This one is practice.....
  16. Oh…and BTW: I sanded off all the door handles and wipers since the Lindberg pieces from the Dodge 330 are a direct swap scale-wise. Yeah, quick build…..
  17. <Grrrr!!!!!> Yeah, quick build my asphalt! Here's this mornings bout of insanity….. This grille is killing me. Now we opened up the directional lenses and we'll separate the edging and install a thin boarder around the inner gills, which is supposed to be chromed anyway. Looking at the kit pieces compared to the actual thing is maddening! Back to the bench later. Time-out to feed the Mother-in-Law some of my absolutely SLAMMING home-made Lasagna and old family recipe meatballs.….
  18. Number 9 is The Fast and The Furious from 1954. This is the first time I'm hearing of an old film with this title! Does it continue after 1966?
  19. OK…a little got done today. I removed the vent windows from the donor `Cuda, and decided to do some scratch building. I've officially crossed over into "project" territory with this brain storm….. My biggest peeve with the horrible second generation Barracudas are the grilles. Absolutely horribly scaled and depicted. The front header panel has the trim molded in. Then you snap in the grill with that HORRIBLY thick inserts and now you have a scale grill trim grow from 3/4" to 3"…. and the headlights are NOT a scale 7". Solution? Make new headlight shells. I grabbed some .010 Evergreen and am going to fill in the inside openings so I now have a scale grille shell trim. And once it's all in, I'll trim off the boarder on the stripped grill, make new headlight bezels, and install some proper headlight. I found every piece I need to replicate my car (as a shelf model) except for a pistol grip shifter, which was custom cast for me anyhow, so that's next. More to follow…..
  20. While rummaging around for my Evergreen sheets, I found this sandwiched in between them. It's from a show in 2005 up in Conn. Way cool, huh?
  21. I spent 9 days in San Diego a few years ago. By day 3 I swear the weather forecaster was a cardboard cutout with a tape-loop: Sunny & 78. Perfect day to be alive in San Diego….
  22. My dearly departed friend Dave Dickash once had his running Dremel drop from his workbench. It came THAT CLOSE to ruining more than his shorts, if you know what I mean! I'm sorry to hear of your mishap Al, but on the upside you reminded me of someone I miss….. great guy, helluva modeler.
  23. I know Entex (???) did a large scale 914 with these wheels. I don't recall ever seeing them in 1/25 either. Just throwing it out there…..
  24. While gathering parts for my Barracuda build, I was thinking about another neat car I owned. Back in the `80's I owned a period correct Cal Look Beetle. It was a Porsche India Red `67 sedan on a `68 IRS pan, disc brakes, 1835cc, twin Webers, etc…. I had acquired a set of Porsche 914 alloys and was wondering if they are available in 1/25. Any help would be appreciated!
  25. OK, with the Holiday baking killing my weekend, I have a small update. Tonight we swapped out the aluminum hub caps for a set from Scale Equipment LTD. They look much better since they have the Plymouth emblem in the center. With a black wash they look really nice…. I also made the window "glass" templates….. And I started cutting and fitting the `70 bench seat. The upholstery pattern still has to be modified. It was a bit too wide. And finally, I just had to test fit the Modelhaus trim. Perfect…. I have a short day tomorrow, and I'm off Tues. & Wed. Should get some momentum now…...
