  1. The only Craigslist transaction I had was last year when I bought my Camry wagon. It's a well-traveled second car we needed, and the seller reassured me it was start-stop-steer-heat transportation, all I needed. The seller met me in a supermarket parking lot as he didn't want strangers coming to his house! I told him if he was wasting my time they were going to find his body in that parking lot. I met him, left my car & friend with him & took it for a road test, handed him the money, and he pulled his 10 speed out of the back of the Camry and pedaled off to his dwelling. Strange people indeed. Crafty...but strange.
  2. Ok...Ok... I'm picking it apart. Granted, it is a new kit, but it's just not accurate to call it a `68 as it doesn't even have fresh air heat!
  3. BTW: Look at the non-fresh air 36 horse fan shroud....
  4. `68 had the larger 2-yr only tail lights before they grew in `70. Those are pre-68 tail lights. Those are also pre-68 European bumpers. That kit looks more like a European `67 with the wrong doors. No way that's factory-correct Beetle, and I welcome proof otherwise. Like I said, it was years ago, but I was really into these things. I still say it's a Hodge-Podge mix....
  5. I see this getting locked in a few posts. I agree with Harry. This just goes to show how nobody has a clue as to what a Rat Rod is, but yet everyone will defend it by changing the rules. How about we start calling primered muscle cars High School Hot Rods. After all, that was MY memories. Maybe I should go scrape all the shiny paint off my car and hit it with Krylon rattle can primer just like we did "back in the day" years ago? That's the nostalgia we all crave, right? Is THAT the next "Big Trend" ?
  6. I drive a `99 Maxima with 125K on the clock. That car is safer than most of the junk on the road, Rod or otherwise. A car that is poorly maintained is one thing. Deliberately building a "contraption" such as what has been described is like attending Julliard on a music scholarship and then becoming a rapper.... Why? Worn w/Patina is one thing, but building a deliberate "Frankenstien" now takes automotive expression into the Donk or Monster Trunk cartoon realm. More vehicles I wouldn't want to share the road with. Imagine having one of those drive over your car because he couldn't see you?
  7. Wow... I go to shows and people buy those NASCAR kits to burn & keep warm. He wants to sell them for an average of $14 ea.?!?!?! I didn't see an single kit listed I'd want, except for maybe the Wynns Charger mentioned in the first ad.
  8. Here I am feeling good about myself as I just added 2 additional outlets and 3 new light fixtures in my garage this weekend! That's not a garage... thats....thats.... Thats ^%$#$%^ awesome.
  9. Waking up to 20 degree weather and having to go outside and seal some gaps around our new A/C unit and install the garage door seals so I don't freeze out there. Provided I don't freeze installing them.....
  10. I'm glad to see this project still has legs. Keep us posted Jeff!
  11. Ooooohhhh! I WANT! I WANT ! I need a set for a previously mentioned build I have planned. PERFECT timing!
  12. Pictures of the door handles too. `67 was a one-year only too for doors. I built a `67 Cal Look back in the 80's....
  13. From what I've seen, that doesn't look like a `68 to me either. There's subtle differences in the engine covers shapes as there's up to `66, `67 is a one-year only, then `68 & up. This appears to have the `67 deck lid & european bumpers, pre-65 front fender turn signals, and who knows what else mixed in. I know.... I'm being too critical. What I'd like is a good look at it. Could you post some pictures of the body? I used to eat, sleep, breathe these things 30 years ago....
  14. Oooh that's going to be a NICE canvas! Beautiful Tim.
  15. I'll NEVER pay a breeder for a companion!
  16. BTW: I work for Infiniti. I have a few more different kits I think..... But if this is what he's looking for he has first crack at it.
  17. I'd rather "do the right thing" as I'm a firm believer in maintaining my Good Karma.
  18. Watch this people, I'm going to blow James' mind. You casually mentioned looking for specific kits on e-Bay. You mention there's 94,000+ kits, but you want the single run Aoshima Q-45 w/ LHD parts. I HAVE IT: PM me if this is what your looking for.....
  19. Don't know if you were referring to my yellow T-bucket, but it has a fine mesh screen in the radiator shell. I don't remember where I got it though.....
  20. Norm Veber (Replicas & Minatures) and Don Holthaus: If either of these Gentlemen have an item for sale you'd like to own, just pay. Without a doubt you will never be disappointed. And this isn't last-weeks opinion. Like Robert said, going on 20+ years..... Just ordered all the chrome & lenses for one of my resin `68 Barracuda's in my stash. A few years ago at NNL East someone was selling nice resin re-pops of the `68 Promo body for some ridiculous price like $20 each. I bought the remaining three he had. Time to dig out the MCW Turquoise and find those drag radials I bought last winter......
  21. I think that's the entire point: Deep Pockets People refer to e-Bay as "evil" when that rare OOP kits sells for what someone is willing to pay for it. I wanted an original issue AMT Hurst Hemi under Glass kit soooooo bad I had headaches. I stepped up, paid my money, and put it safely away. Spent a lot of money, but it's what I wanted. I'd still be hunting down parts for the Barracuda if it wasn't for e-Bay. My bench seat came from Washington state, some rare & hard to find trim, and countless other odds-n-ends I found while sitting comfortably in my recliner. Evil? Hardly...... e-Bay is my friend. :-)
  22. Sorry gang, my holiday excitement meter is flatlining..... Does absolutely nothing for me. I'd rather buy my Wife a gift or flowers randomly instead of coporate-fueled buy frenzies. My local Sears Hardware had X-mas decorations up last month..... That's nothing more than greed, NOT the "holiday" spirit. And my Wife isn't too crazy about this time of year either. Sorry, we just don't BUY into it.....
  23. I had a Mopar guy tell me I had the incorrect grain on my door panels for a `68 (he was right, they're from a `69) but I still felt compelled to tell him NOT to look under the hood. The 6 Bbl. would give him a stroke! Mopar guys can be a huge PIA.... and yes, I'm one too. Just not that obsessed. I deleted the A/C and converted it to a 4 spd. And it's an original 340-S. Makes the numbers-matching guys twitch.
  24. I knew there was a non-argent color! Red.... Thanks for filling in the blank for me.
