  1. Yes, I agree Bill. But it's just as dangerous when you can change lanes UNDER an Escalade! There's video of this thing actually being driven.......bravely I might add.
  2. Dan, I have a `67 Wagon too, but I think it's an old R & R kit. That is going to be awesome! What made you chose the `67 shade of Turquoise? I own a `68 Plymouth that's the lighter `68 version of that color, L1. Love seeing this being laid out, great start so far. And that Lindberg slant 6 is a gem. Nice project, I'm watching!
  3. But yet, I absolutely love this contraption.......
  4. An AAR version would be the next logical kit release. As much as I'd like the S&M car, this would make more sense. Or maybe after a drag car.....
  5. In a weird, perverted way I kind of like the car from the wheels up: two-tone drop top is never a bad deal. Nice colors. But....But.... then there's the REST of it.
  6. I just find it amusing that "back in the day...." , roughly the 70's, if your car was called a Rat, it was a definite slam against it. Funny how it's morphed.
  7. When I was younger and couldn't afford a "finished" car it had primer. And the car, in general.... was "ratty". As in rusty spots, dents, and mis-matched painted panels. I had no money. I made it functional and safe. Today to deliberately build an un-safe, rat-trap collection of hacked together junk is questionable. Finding an old car with a nice vintage patina is one thing, but to re-produce patina is odd. Let alone build them like a cross between a Weird-o model and a Leggo contraption. Granted, to each their own, but it is an unusual fade. The last thing I want to own is a car in primer these days. I worked hard to evolve in the hobby. *************** Sorry, just my unsolicited observation on the subject of "Rat Rods", a term real enthusiasts of survivor Rods hate. Don't like `em or hate `em. Just don't understand the attraction.
  8. Too bad I had to work..... Oh well, next year! Thanks for posting the pictures.
  9. Tim, it almost sounds like your down playing the possibility of Revell doing the S & M car..... When can we expect it?
  10. BTW: The gauntlet has been thrown down for the first ambitious conversion of this highly anticipated kit!!!! http://www.forebodiesonly.com/forum/showthread.php?7469-1970-4-door-cuda-!-!
  11. Don't get me started on vintage Basses I've owned. I had a `76 Fender Precision Bass I bought new just out of High School. Paid $235 (!!!!) for it new, traded it in for $400 6 yrs. later & thought I scored. That Bass is worth close to $2,500 today. Black with a Maple neck, USA made. Don't ask what the Travis Bean aluminum neck Bass I owned in the 80's is worth today.....that I sold cheap.
  12. Mr. Davis, PLEASE don't leave us hanging too long! We all see too many epic builds fade away (a certain brass wrecker comes to mind.... *wink* *wink*) and almost get forgotten (I also remember CoyoteHybrids awesome `64 Dodge with the scratch-build engine...) but there's people, like myself, that will politely remind the builder that we're watching. And paying attention. I took me 2 months to install the headliner in my 1:1 Barracuda because it was a PIA and I wanted to do it myself. Take a deep breath, and have at it when your ready. You'll get it. ** Although, with the newly tooled Revell `Cuda kit just around the corner, I may understand your casual pace..... **
  13. My Bad: Tim, thanks a million for suppling a fist-hand look at this great new kit. I had the test shot in my hands @ NNL East and some of it looked a little off. The pictures you posted are VERY encouraging. Please, build on!
  14. I can't wait until Revell pops out THE most famous Pro Stock version of this kit. And if they don't.....
  15. I found a half-built MPC Charger III and an un-built MPC Ramchargers Dune Buggy at a thrift store years ago. Bought both for $20. Flipped them to help finance my original Hemi under Glass kit I paid through the nose for. It all balances out I guess.....
  16. I started a post on getting back to building and it morphed into Russian Gaz's.....? A little ADD are we? FWIW: Starting on the bench tonight. (BTW: Sorry to steer this back on-topic)
  17. I saw that dragster YEARS ago on a site and always thought what a great replica build it would make. Thanks for the additional info as what I had seen was just a sub-title with the pic.
  18. I'm squeezing in a few minutes here before I go to work myself. No time for the models, although the weather has begun to turn &^%$%^&..... maybe I start dusting off the bench this week. Welcome back to the small scale. I myself have been playing with the big stuff too & going broke doing it. But boy, is it FUN!
  19. Wow.... what a nice day today was. I was working in the garage in just a T-shirt & Jeans. Camry fixed, toolbox moved, stuff scrapped or put away. Nice day....
  20. Wow.... where to start? The `31 is flat-out awesome!!! Your scratch building and fabrication are really well done. The on-the-ground stance is just right, and the weathered details are perfect. NICE job!!! As for the Turtle pond that morphed into a home-renovation, I'm in that boat too.... I see your talented as a DIY'er yourself too. While there was no &^%$%^& way I was putting a roof and siding on my house, everything else is fair game. You got skillz there Pal....
  21. I'm a dealer technician for Infiniti w/ Master certification in not only ASE, but Nissan and Infiniti too. I've been working for Nissan now for over 20 yrs. Before that I spent 10 yrs. w/ Porsche/Audi. And to be brutally honest I hate my job with a passion, but it's decent money. Well-to-do clientele are a royal PIA to keep happy.....
  22. Sure your not sleep-walking up to the refridgerator?
  23. <sigh....> I know, I know. Somewhere it's happy hour! Enjoy your summer Ray! As for up here, it's about 12 degrees above normal, thank you very much, as I need to replace the master cylinder in my Camry today.... 70 degree weather sure beats what they're predicting for Sunday: a high of maybe 50. But at least I got my garage workbench built before the temperature crashes.
  24. For the past month I've been trying to get the workbench unearthed. But the weather has been so cooperative I'm finding it hard to stay indoors. After having new siding, roof, and drains installed I've been overhauling the 1:1 workbench/garage. My head hurts from all the inspiration and ideas you guys are giving me.... I gotta get going.
