Freightliner FLC
Biggu replied to Jürgen M.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I am and I do ……. Interested and care ….. The oil distributor tank you designed had over 260 pieces plus the ones I added , it is hard to believe how many parts are involved to build a well detailed model. Very interesting -

Actuality in all reality, thinking hard on that I think I only tore two off. One was when they had the flaps mounted to the dump box way back in the day and we were butt oiling gravel and I got too close to the pile due to inexperience and the second time was when we were hauling shot rock and a big chunk of rock fell between the rock pile and the rear tire. When I pulled ahead slowly so the rocks wouldn’t fall against a brake chamber it, instead pulled the dang flap off. 🙄Then it was a trip back to the barn to fix it 😘 -

Link-Belt HC-218 Truck Crane

This operational stuff is just awesome and helps this layman like me understand even more the complexities of your build. I am glad for that information as I was wondering if, for the extra boom extensions would a low bed tractor trailer be in the mix. Now , ……….“ I know the rest of the story “ Thanks Tom -

That is fantastic information and amazing math and physics. I had no idea. And 12 pounds before a failure is mind blowing. Thanks for that information. I have a whole new respect and admiration for these units now. Just amazing -

This is a great tutorial on these booms. As a layman, they look a bit flimsy, but lift massive weights and an incredible amount of small pieces that are never seen but are essential to the operation. This is extremely interesting build and a great learning tool for those of us who know little about them. The quality of the build work is stunningly accurate and precise as well, a joy to watch. I’m really enjoying this one , Tom . -

Perfect bends on the flap rods. Did you do that free hand? Or a jig? They look great. -
Thanks, Carl, it was a fun build too.... took me back to some good old work days.... thanks for checking in...

Randy …… your engineering and execution with such finesse, and precision is more than admirable, you work this model like a surgeon. It is incredibly impressive. Hands like a surgeon, eyes like eagle and steady as a rock. So much talent on this forum. -

Wow, Steve … that is true modelling in its purest form. Awesome work. I have to keep reminding myself this is 1/32 not 1/25. Big difference. You have amazing talents. -
Thanks Ron , you are too generous. This means a lot coming from you with your unique builds and from a guy who also worked with these trucks, you know exactly what to look for and I am glad I hit most of the correct details. I am looking forward to your next build. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
